His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2000: Chapter 573: Chen Ge Is So Bad (2)

Xiang Hang greeted her politely.

”Mm!”

Qin Mu answered softly and handed him a cup of coffee.

Xiang Hang took the coffee, leaned against the car again and looked ahead, drinking as if nothing had happened.

Qin Mu also leaned against the car, looking ahead like him, but she didn’t rush to drink the steaming hot coffee.

In October, this coffee felt especially warm, but she really wasn’t in the mood now.

”You went to give Zhang Hongyun trouble?”

Qin Mu turned her head to look at him and asked.

Her voice was unhurried, but after Xiang Hang heard it, he lowered his head, guessed that Wang Li had told her, and sighed helplessly. ”Yeah.”

”Because she came after me, you sent people to smash up her place?”

”You’re not happy about it?”

Xiang Hang asked her.

”Not happy? I’m very happy about it.”

Qin Mu shot back, her eyes flickering as she suddenly laughed.

Xiang Hang...

Xiang Hang also laughed after a moment, then looked forward again, cupping the coffee with both hands and taking small sips.

”But try not to do this kind of thing in the future. If she really hurts me, it won’t be too late for you to go after her then.”

”She keeps coming to bother you like this. After this lesson, she won’t dare to come to you so easily again.”

Xiang Hang said to her. That was his intention too.

”I hope so. But you scared Wang Li badly.”

Qin Mu couldn’t help reminding him.

”What can I do? I’m your bodyguard. I have the responsibility to do things for you.”

Xiang Hang said to her, also irritated. Last night he’d eaten at Wang Li’s place and hadn’t expected Wang Li to overhear him on the phone.

”From now on, whatever you plan to do, talk it over with me first, okay?”

Qin Mu thought for a moment and asked gently.

Xiang Hang considered it and nodded. ”Okay.”

Qin Mu lifted the cup and took a light sip; that small mouthful sliding down warmed her all over.

Across the street, business at the jewelry store seemed pretty good. It looked like they were running some kind of promotion. Qin Mu couldn’t see what was written on the signboard at the door, but she saw people going in one after another.

Qin Mu hadn’t expected Hangzi to go that far, but even if he did, she felt it was no big deal. That woman had been living far too freely in Rongcheng; it was about time she got a warning.

It was just that now that Hangzi had a girlfriend, he had to be able to pull himself out of this kind of thing in the future.

Wang Li was busy greeting customers, occasionally glancing outside. After Qin Mu went in and gave her a nod, Wang Li instantly let out a breath of relief and then focused on her customers again.

At noon Qin Mu had lunch with the two of them. Hangzi ignored Wang Li the whole time, eating with his head down, and Qin Mu, sitting between them, felt a bit awkward.

Seeing that Hangzi was ignoring her, Wang Li just blurted out, ”You’re mad because I went to Qin Mu to talk to you? But we’re dating now. Is it wrong for me to worry about my own boyfriend?”

”I wasn’t going to say this, but if you can’t accept it, we might as well break up.”

Hangzi suddenly said flatly, not even looking at Wang Li.

Wang Li froze right away. She hadn’t expected that after she finally worked up the nerve to be in a relationship, this man would bring up breaking up so easily.

Qin Mu looked at him in disbelief as well, also unable to accept it. Why suddenly talk about breaking up?

”What I used to do was much more frightening than what I do now. Now I’m Mrs. Mu’s bodyguard. Aside from protecting her, I haven’t personally laid a hand on anyone. If you expect me to do nothing at all, then you really are asking too much.”

Hangzi explained why he wanted to break up.

Wang Li’s eyes were already blurred. Her hands were tightly clutching the pair of chopsticks she hadn’t used yet, teeth clenched, not even willing to let her breathing give too much away.

”If you two really break up over this, then what am I supposed to do?”

Qin Mu looked at the two of them, offhand yet utterly straightforward, and asked word by word.

”It has nothing to do with you. I’m the one who shouldn’t have had those thoughts I shouldn’t have.”

”Thoughts you shouldn’t have?”

Wang Li turned her head, meeting Hangzi’s indifferent face, questioning him.

”Yeah. I shouldn’t have been greedy enough to think someone like me could also have a warm home, the kind of home ordinary people get to have.”

Xiang Hang looked at her too.

Did Wang Li suit his taste? Yes.

But he knew even better that Wang Li couldn’t accept his work. And even if she managed to accept it for now, they would still have conflicts later. He didn’t want Wang Li to spend her days on edge, waiting for him to come home because of his job, and he didn’t want the day to come when what she saw was his mangled, bloody corpse.

Qin Mu drew in a breath, but couldn’t bring herself to let it go.

She didn’t wonder whether she’d been wrong to match them up in the first place. What she was thinking about was how she should do this so the two of them wouldn’t end up breaking up.
