His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1981: Chapter 568: Concealment (Part 2)

”Perhaps her experiences are very complex, but having a man like Mr. Mu by her side all the time, I think she’s quite lucky.”

”But no one can always be with her. When she was in high school, Yichen couldn’t always be by her side. At that time, it was her adolescence, and Yichen was cold and warm towards her...”

Zhao Huai tried to see some form of sympathy in Yang Qin’s eyes but didn’t see any. Zhao Huai furrowed his eyebrows. Initially, he thought Yang Qin was someone easy to read, but at this moment, he suddenly felt he didn’t understand his new colleague at all.

Is it that women who have lived in isolation since childhood have particularly hard and cold hearts?

”Yang Qin, what happened yesterday?”

Zhao Huai suddenly asked.

Because Qiao Yi told him that yesterday Qin Mu couldn’t find Mu Yichen, and later Mu Yichen said he wouldn’t be working today. Now, looking at Yang Qin, Zhao Huai suddenly felt that Yang Qin might know something.

Yang Qin raised her eyes to look at him, just remembering that the events of yesterday weren’t well-known, only Qin Mu knew about them.

However, Mu Yichen wouldn’t hide anything from Qin Mu, and surely he wouldn’t hide it from his brothers either. Sooner or later, they would find out.

”Yesterday, I was almost raped.”

Yang Qin said it herself.

Zhao Huai was stunned, staring at her, unable to speak.

”Mr. Mu saved me, and he got injured. I called him, and his wife said he got twelve stitches.”

Yang Qin explained everything that happened.

Actually, she received a call from the police station today. Those three men had confessed that they were indeed hired and ordered, but they didn’t know the name of that person, only that it was a young woman.

Yang Qin actually had someone in mind, but she just wasn’t sure.

But this person, she really only wanted to tell Mu Yichen about.

However, Mu Yichen hadn’t called her to ask about this matter today. Clearly, Mu Yichen wasn’t concerned.

Thinking that Mu Yichen wasn’t concerned about the case’s progress, she felt a bit aimless, but she just didn’t want to tell anyone else.

”Brother Chen was injured?”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Huai could no longer sit still. Without caring that Yang Qin was still there, he got up and started to leave, calling Qiao Yi and others on the way: ”Brother Chen is injured, hurry, let’s go together to check on him.”

Yang Qin was still sitting there, just couldn’t help but turn her head to look over.

To those people, Mu Yichen was so important? Their brotherly love was truly touching, and she had lived to thirty without someone she truly cared about. Yang Qin didn’t know if she felt heartache for Mu Yichen’s injury or for her own loneliness and helplessness.

Luckily, in the afternoon, only the old man was home with the couple. The couple both had a slight fever and were resting in their bedroom upstairs. The old man, having nothing to do, was watching military news, occasionally chatting with them briefly.

Jing Feng was on a mission and couldn’t arrive immediately, so he asked Qiao Yi and Zhao Huai to check on the Mu Family first, not to frighten the elders unnecessarily.

Qiao Yi rushed back from outside and went to the Mu Family with Zhao Huai, being ushered to sit on the couch under the old man’s gaze. A bit anxious but recalled Jing Feng’s words and thus kept their worries to themselves.

”Grandpa! Was Yichen okay when he came back home last night?”

Qiao Yi asked cautiously, because the nanny had gone upstairs to call Mu Yichen, and they didn’t dare to ask randomly, but their minds were filled with concern—twelve stitches, and they could already imagine Mu Yichen with a gaping hole in his head.

”Last night? The young couple didn’t come back last night at all! They just came back this morning.”

The old man’s eyebrows raised, feeling that these two young men came rather unexpectedly, looking closely at them, feeling they seemed a bit odd as well.

”Didn’t come back last night?”

Qiao Yi and Zhao Huai exchanged glances, bewildered.

”Hmph! You two acting all mysterious, what’s really going on?”

The old man squinted his eyes, a sharp look coming over him.

”Well, nothing much, just heard that...”

Qiao Yi was just about to speak when Zhao Huai suddenly put his arm around Qiao Yi’s shoulder and then gave the old man an awkward yet polite smile: ”There’s a big deal at the company waiting for him to make a decision, but he said he wouldn’t work today, so we came to check.”

”Yes! Yes! Yes! After all, it’s a billion-dollar deal!”

Qiao Yi replied through gritted teeth, thinking: Damn, almost let it slip! Could it be the old man doesn’t even know Mu Yichen was injured? Or did Zhao Huai get it wrong?

Qin Mu was drifting in and out of sleep in Mu Yichen’s arms until she heard a knock on the door. She finally couldn’t sleep anymore and got up, but Mu Yichen was still asleep.
