His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1980: Chapter 568: Concealment

After hanging up the phone, Qin Mu kept wondering if Yang Qin’s call was just out of simple gratitude?

——

Yang Qin was still in the office building. She had just finished her work, or more accurately, she had spent the entire morning looking for work to keep herself busy until the end of the day, but in the end, she still couldn’t resist making the call.

In fact, from the call last night, she understood that Mu Yichen did not want her to call again, but she found it hard to control herself; that man almost lost his life for her.

Just ask, even for a close boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, would a man really do that for his girlfriend?

There’s a saying between couples that when disaster strikes, you fend for yourself; is it any different between lovers?

Yet her boss, who shares no romantic feelings with her, risked his life to save her just because she is his secretary.

If he weren’t married, Yang Qin thought, she would offer herself, expecting nothing in return.

But he is married, so she just wants to thank him, hopes he won’t work too hard before recovering from his injuries, and that he can rest as much as possible.

However, she said nothing; Qin Mu hung up her call.

She sensed hostility in Qin Mu’s voice; honestly, she didn’t care much about Qin Mu’s opinion since she was merely Mu Yichen’s secretary.

But...

She’s afraid Mu Yichen might be unhappy, so she’s nervous, conflicted, and unsure what to do next.

Only work—no, it’s time to eat. She frustratedly tidied up her desk and went downstairs for lunch.

”Yang Qin!”

Zhao Huai saw her in the restaurant. Yang Qin, looking disheveled, turned her head at the call and saw Zhao Huai seated alone at a table, so she went over to join him: ”Why are you alone?”

”Old Qin has something to do today, and Mr. Mu didn’t come to work. I’m all alone, but how come you’ve been at the company so long and haven’t made any friends?”

Zhao Huai chuckled, noticing her troubled expression.

”What friends? I’ll be going back in a few months.”

Tensing internally while saying this, Yang Qin gave a light smile, feeling a touch of reluctance.

Reluctance?

She lowered her gaze, hands entwined, momentarily unable to understand her own emotions.

”Even with that, it’s quick to fly back from home nowadays, and it’s not inconvenient, you can still make friends. Being alone all the time, don’t you feel lonely?”

Zhao Huai asked her.

”Lonely? I’ve lived like this since childhood, I’m used to it!”

Yang Qin chuckled bitterly.

”Wow! You really seem like someone!”

Zhao Huai laughed again and mentioned.

Yang Qin raised her eyes curiously: ”Like someone?”

”Yeah! Want to know who?”

Zhao Huai looked mysterious, with a hint of doubt in his eyes.

Yang Qin looked at him curiously, waiting for him to continue.

”Qin Mu! She’s like that too, grew up abroad, doesn’t actively make friends, unless others drag her out. Of course, I only heard this from Mr. Mu.”

As Zhao Huai talked, he raised his eyebrows, regretting he couldn’t be involved, though he missed the chance.

Listening to him, Yang Qin felt something she’d never felt before.

”I mean no disrespect, please don’t misunderstand, just saying you two have similar temperaments.”

Zhao Huai moved his hand slightly, fearing she might misinterpret his meaning.

Yang Qin smiled: ”She’s a mayor’s daughter, a young mistress, how could I be like her?”

”Saying that, Qin Mu would be upset if she heard. She’s not one to look down on ordinary people, and frankly speaking, she’s endured hardships no less than yours.”

Zhao Huai always smiled kindly.

Yang Qin looked at him, puzzled.

”Shall I tell you about her?”

Zhao Huai asked her warmly.

Yang Qin’s eyes moved slightly, then she nodded.

She wanted to know everything about Qin Mu, from childhood to adulthood.

”When she was not quite eight years old, her mother passed away. You might have seen some gossip in the news online, although not much, every piece from their family is quite revealing. Her father later married another woman, and after the New Year, she was sent to Paris. Abandonment is a word that can be used on her.”

Zhao Huai spoke as he poured tea into their cups.

Yang Qin quietly listened. They talked for over two hours, had lunch, and drank tea while conversing, with Zhao Huai speaking the most.
