His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1893: Chapter 544: Taming Mrs. Mu (Part 3)

”Hmph! Don’t forget what you just promised me!”

Feng Fanghua’s sharp eyes glanced at her, and Qin Mu immediately nodded obediently: ”I remember! I remember!”

Eager for instant success gets you nowhere, Qin Mu thought and decided to put in more effort later.

If she couldn’t go out tonight, she would surely be able to tomorrow or the day after.

During dinner, the whole family gathered together. Qin Mu watched her son and daughter eat with such relish, especially Huanhuan, that she couldn’t help but comment: ”Huanhuan, you’ve gained a bit of weight recently!”

Huanhuan had just stuffed her mouth with a large piece of meat, and after hearing her mother’s words, within seconds, she looked pitiful as if she couldn’t swallow that bite, her eyelashes seemingly moist.

”Oh dear! What nonsense are you talking about? Kids grow during this phase. Huanhuan isn’t chubby; your mom’s just talking nonsense. Eat slowly!”

Seeing her granddaughter like that, Feng Fanghua’s heart ached, and she quickly comforted her in a low voice.

Huanhuan looked at her mom with wide eyes, then slowly finished the piece of meat and continued eating.

Qin Mu thought, she definitely had gotten chubbier, recently putting on at least three or five pounds. It had to be from her aunt’s house. But was this girl completely unaware? Or did she just not care about the weight gain?

”Indeed, she’s put on a little weight, but she’s so cute! When Qingxin was young, she was even chubbier than Huanhuan, and isn’t she as thin as a rail now?”

Mu Zihao looked at his granddaughter, and though she was a bit plump, she was undeniably adorable. This chubby little girl seemed destined for good fortune.

The old man didn’t say a word, quietly eating his meal. Occasionally, he’d glance at his grandson and find him casually yet earnestly eating dinner, prompting him to chuckle softly.

After dinner, Qin Mu didn’t return to her room but skillfully ushered Feng Fanghua into her room. Once Feng Fanghua was inside, Qin Mu shut the door and looked at her pathetically, calling out weakly: ”Mom!”

”Don’t even try! Acting pitiful won’t work on me. Let me make it clear, I called you back on purpose. In this family, I don’t allow anyone to make excuses not to come home for dinner.”

”But, every time Mu Yichen leaves after an argument with me, you never bother about it. Even if he stays out overnight, you don’t look for him.”

Qin Mu felt even more wronged, stepped forward to grab Feng Fanghua’s hand, and gently shook it: ”I promise, after these two days, starting on the fourth, I’ll be on a strict schedule. As long as you don’t agree, I won’t meet friends for meals or work overtime outside.”

Qin Mu said this while also raising her hand in promise.

Feng Fanghua was somewhat at a loss for words when she heard Qin Mu mention Mu Yichen being out, and now, with Qin Mu’s plea, she felt like perhaps she had been slightly harsh.

”Currently, whether it’s our studio or W, everyone’s working overtime. I’m the only one who came back. Mom, you know I just took over JY Headquarters. Would you be willing to let your daughter-in-law be seen as not taking JY seriously?”

Qin Mu’s voice grew softer and weaker, waiting pitifully for Feng Fanghua’s approval.

Feng Fanghua looked at her and realized that if Qin Mu wasn’t being coquettish, she could play the part well. She wondered if Mu Yichen could handle it; as a mother, her heart had softened.

”Just these few days. You said it yourself. In the future, don’t make random excuses for business trips or overtime! ”

Feng Fanghua thought for a moment, her tone softening as she spoke to her.

Qin Mu knew she wasn’t being unreasonable. Deep down, she knew she was already a pretty good daughter-in-law. Recently, she’d heard a friend’s daughter-in-law had hit her husband in a fit of anger, smashed everything at home, and then left. When her friend called, she wouldn’t answer, or if she did, it wasn’t pleasant. No way Qin Mu would ever push her to such extremes.

”Yes, yes! I’ll listen to you!”

Qin Mu didn’t expect Feng Fanghua to be so easygoing, gratefully nodding vigorously, then reaching up to hug Feng Fanghua’s shoulders.

”You need to understand, my strict demands are for the sake of our family. Neither of you has self-control, so I have to help you!”

Feng Fanghua sighed, then earnestly shared with her, sounding less stern than she had downstairs.

”Yes! I understand! I know you mean well, Mom!”

Qin Mu said, and towards the end, her voice grew increasingly softer. For some reason, she felt a tickle in her throat.
