His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1879: Chapter 540: Passing By Each Other (Part 4)

For some reason, she suddenly felt anxious about her belly, wondering why it hadn’t grown bigger yet. She was a bit impatient to give birth.

She wanted to return to work as soon as possible after having the baby, to avoid any trouble.

Later, Qiao Yi, worried that Xi Meng might get too tired staying at the hospital for too long, also went there. By then, Xi Meng was already with Yang Qin outside the operating room.

When Yang Qin saw Qiao Yi coming over, she felt even more guilty. She didn’t know how to thank the couple. Anxiously waiting for news about her grandmother, she couldn’t say much and just nodded at Qiao Yi.

”Don’t mind me!”

Qiao Yi gently reminded her and then walked over to Xi Meng, asking, ”Are you feeling okay?”

”Of course I’m fine!”

Xi Meng knew Qiao Yi was worried about her, so she softly reassured him.

Qiao Yi glanced at Xi Meng again, his eyes seeming to say: Even if you’re okay, I still worry.

Yang Qin was leaning by the door of the operating room, nervously sighing countless times, and she lost count of how many times she looked up at the lit indicator light.

Her parents hadn’t divorced, but they seemed to live separate lives without interfering with each other. Her mother was in Rong City, but the phone couldn’t get through, and as for her father...

Yang Qin finally gave up seeking anyone, just enduring and praying, hoping that the only family member who cared about her would survive, giving her more sunshine and hope.

Seeing her so tense, Xi Meng and Qiao Yi didn’t step forward to comfort her; sometimes verbal consolation was just a waste of energy for the anxious person. They chose to silently accompany her instead.

Fortunately, her grandmother’s surgery was successful. However, due to her grandmother’s age, the dean said recovery would be very slow. During this period, they would need to take care carefully, and if there was any problem, they should call the doctor immediately.

Before leaving, Xi Meng took Yang Qin’s hand and said, ”If you need anything, just call. Although we don’t work in the same office area, we’ve become good colleagues.”

Yang Qin nodded, ”Thank you for your hard work today. I’m very grateful, but I’ll thank you properly another day. Since you’re pregnant, you should go back early. I’ll contact you if there’s anything.”

”Okay!”

Xi Meng nodded, and then Qiao Yi led her away.

After they left, Yang Qin went to the intensive care unit. For the first time in her life, she saw her grandmother so fragile, teetering between life and death. She didn’t know what to do, tears involuntarily falling, as a sudden loneliness surrounded her, making her crouch against the wall, holding herself tightly.

On the way back, Xi Meng asked Qiao Yi, ”Do you think the boss has been acting strange?”

”Hmm? Mu Yichen acting strange?”

Qiao Yi was driving seriously, a bit puzzled by Xi Meng’s question.

”He never used to be so concerned about others’ affairs, even asking me to help Yang Qin find the dean to personally operate on her grandmother—such details.”

Xi Meng expressed her confusion.

Qiao Yi was still seriously driving. Regarding this, he didn’t quite understand either, but they were all colleagues, and Yang Qin’s situation was rather special.

”I’m not worried about Yang Qin’s situation. I’m more concerned about that girl Qin Mu. Do you think she might stay in Paris and not come back?”

Qiao Yi frowned, asking as he drove.

”According to Yang Qin, the boss and Qin Mu met in London, but it was like they were strangers—they didn’t say a word and went their separate ways. Sigh! It seems their relationship always encounters some roadblocks.”

Xi Meng said.

”Sigh! Our poor Brother Chen!”

Qiao Yi shook his head, unable to stop sighing.

Xi Meng glanced at Qiao Yi, rare to see him sigh for his brother. In her heart, she hoped Qin Mu would return soon and live well with Mu Yichen, to prevent anything unnecessary from happening.

”Since this Yang Qin is someone you brought back, I think it’s necessary for you to keep an eye on her!”

Xi Meng suddenly suggested.

Qiao Yi curiously glanced at his wife in the rearview mirror, wondering if this woman had lost her mind since getting pregnant, actually asking him to pay attention to another woman.

”I’m afraid that what the boss is doing might give her unrealistic ideas.”

Xi Meng looked at him and said.

Qiao Yi...

He had completely forgotten such an important point and immediately nodded, ”Understood!”

——

”You ran off to Paris without telling me a word, are you trying to force your father and me to leave your sister’s place?”

”Mom, I...”

”What? How did I instruct you before I left? How did you promise me? Book the earliest flight back now, don’t force me to fly to Paris to drag you home!”

Feng Fanghua reproached her emotionally in the video.

”Mom, I’m really going...”

”I’m hanging up! Your father and I have decided to return immediately. Your grandfather is alone at home now, and while you and your husband can be heartless, leaving your grandfather unattended, your father and I can’t be so unfilial. If I don’t see you when I get back, you might as well not return home ever again!”

”Mom...”

Qin Mu couldn’t get a complete sentence out before Feng Fanghua cut off the video call!

On the night before leaving, Mu Yichen hesitated between Paris and the journey back home, while Qin Mu received Feng Fanghua’s ultimatum.
