His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1874: Chapter 539: One More Car at Home

After Qin Mu accepted Xiao Wei and Jian Yan’s suggestion, she developed a plan. This way, the family of three could happily travel together, and her debt to Jian Yan could only be repaid through years of diligent work.

Her greatest wish is for Jian Yan to be healthy and live happily, and for Jian Yan and Xiao Wei’s child to grow up quickly, so she can gracefully retire.

Indeed, she has a certain premonition that in the future, this child will inevitably inherit the family business.

”Mumu?”

The old man saw Qin Mu lost in thought and softly called her.

”Hmm? Oh!”

Qin Mu was startled and, after coming to her senses, realized she had forgotten the topic with her grandfather, so she brushed over it vaguely.

The old man sighed helplessly, ”When are you leaving?”

”The flight is at ten thirty!”

Qin Mu glanced at her watch and answered him.

The old man nodded, ”Let the family’s driver take you to the airport later. If you need anything, go upstairs and check, okay?”

After listening to the old man’s words, Qin Mu nodded, grateful that her grandfather was always thinking about her.

However, once upstairs, the quiet bedroom made her stick to the wall, unwilling to go inside.

There wasn’t much she needed to bring; Paris had everything one could want; anything she wanted couldn’t be taken along.

Grandpa said he had been sleeping on the sofa recently; suddenly, she seemed to understand his reason.

Because the bedroom is too quiet!

Quiet enough that once someone enters, it feels desolate.

Qin Mu lowered her head and leaned against the wall for a while, then though she picked up two pieces of sleepwear, stuffed them into a black backpack, and went downstairs with it.

On the way to the airport, the rain began to lighten.

”Young madam, when will you be back?”

Arriving at the airport, Qin Mu was carrying one bag and had another on her back, ready to get out of the car, when the driver turned and asked her.

”I’ll definitely be back when Huanhuan starts school!”

Qin Mu replied with a smile, and then bid him farewell.

The driver suddenly felt a bit pained, feeling sorry for their young master, always tormented by longing, while their young madam seemed not to care at all.

He thought, luckily his daughter-in-law is family-oriented; otherwise, he wouldn’t feel settled working outside.

Watching Qin Mu leave, he drove back to the Mu Family, noticing Qin Mu’s old car still parked at home when he stopped the car.

——

Mu Yichen arrived home after dark, idly parked the car in the garage, and then saw the car Qin Mu had bought when she first came to Rongcheng. His brow furrowed unconsciously; after getting out of the car, he stood behind Qin Mu’s car and turned around; finally, he put his hands on his hips and looked at the car’s rear. If he remembered correctly, Qin Mu’s car should have always been parked at the studio; she said it had become a communal car for the studio, but...

Has she returned?

Mu Yichen instinctively looked towards the house, then, somehow, felt a pang inside.

The old man was playing chess with the butler, waiting for dinner, and Mu Yichen slowly walked inside, as if afraid of disturbing the quiet inside the house.

Qin Mu’s return would make the house quiet too, as she has never been a very lively person.

However, after pondering for half a day about his expression and the words he had prepared for meeting Qin Mu, he returned to the living room, only to find no trace of her.

The old man sensed someone had returned, lifted his eyes, and saw Mu Yichen, ”Back early, huh!”

”Young master, you’re back. Why don’t you help the old man finish this game? I’ve got some other errands to run.”

Mu Yichen said nothing, only slightly nodding. After the butler left, he sat down where the butler had been, looking down at the chessboard.

But his heart was not in the game at all.

The old man glanced at his grandson’s demeanor, recalling Qin Mu’s car at home, wondering if the boy had put the car in the garage. He hadn’t done that in years, usually parking as close as possible to the entrance.

Mu Yichen held back from asking anything; he couldn’t make sense of it, her car being here, yet she not?

Or was she upstairs changing clothes?

Mu Yichen restrained his urge and continued with the chess game alongside the old man, who soon chuckled after making a couple of moves.

”You can really hold it in, huh, young man!”

The old man remarked, even as he stared at the chessboard.

Mu Yichen squeezed the piece in his hand, without lifting his gaze, appearing deeply focused.

The old man seeing him uninquiring, said no more, intent on winning the game, thinking, you can keep holding on, but let’s see how long you’ll last.

At dinner time, Mu Yichen followed the old man into the dining room and sat down, but the seat beside him remained vacant for a long time, and neither the aunt nor his grandfather seemed to intend to call Qin Mu upstairs. Mu Yichen’s heart sank, and his brow knitted tightly.
