His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1851: Chapter 531: Separate Rooms? Heh! (Second Update)

”Xi Meng has encountered some health issues. I’ll be late picking you up, wait for me!”

Qin Mu’s heart skipped a beat, unable to appreciate the tension in his promise, already anxious for Xi Meng: ”How is she?”

”She’s undergoing tests in the hospital; I’ll inform you once I have the results!”

Mu Yichen told her, looking down at his feet.

”Okay! I’ll wait for your news!”

Qin Mu agreed, hanging up the phone while nervously forgetting herself.

”What happened? Why are you so nervous?”

Qin Mingzhu looked at her pale face and instinctively asked.

”Xi Meng is in the hospital!”

Qin Mu said softly, thinking for a moment before continuing, ”I have to go to the hospital!”

”Hey! It’s about to rain!”

Qin Mingzhu saw her heading out regardless and reflexively reminded her but didn’t dare to stop her.

”It’s okay! You go back! Don’t go out tonight!”

Qin Mu turned her head back slightly and then kept walking away.

”Oh!”

Qin Mingzhu responded, and after Qin Mu left, she felt a bit lost, but knowing Xi Meng’s good relationship with Qin Mu, she could only let her go.

——

”The pregnant woman and the baby are fine, but her condition is declining; she shouldn’t work for a while!”

In the hospital, after examining Xi Meng, the doctor informed Qiao Yi.

Qiao Yi, letting go of his anxious stance, seemed as if he had just climbed out of hell, both crying and laughing.

Mu Yichen stood beside him, watching Qiao Yi go inside; he then turned and walked out, calling Qin Mu while walking. At that moment, Qin Mu was already in a taxi as it started to rain lightly outside.

Qin Mu answered Mu Yichen’s call quickly for the first time in a while: ”Hello? Have the results come out?”

”Everything’s fine! I’m heading to the Qin Family to pick you up!”

Mu Yichen’s voice was steady, telling her as his car left the hospital area.

”I’m already on my way to the hospital!”

Only then did Qin Mu realize her foolishness and quickly report to him.

”Your current location!”

Mu Yichen asked her, his eyebrows slightly furrowed yet maintaining a deep tone.

Qin Mu glanced outside and reflexively reported her position.

Ten minutes later, they stopped there. Qin Mu gave the driver a hundred yuan without asking for change, and the driver also handed her the umbrella from the car.

Afraid that Mu Yichen would want to get out to pick her up, Qin Mu took the umbrella and got out herself.

The moment Mu Yichen parked, he saw her with an umbrella coming out of the car, halting his motion to exit, simply watching her run from across the street.

The last time she ran to him this way seemed to have been a long time ago.

Qin Mu timidly opened the car door, got in, and shook off the water from the umbrella vigorously. Mu Yichen started the car, she closed the door, then turned to glance at him: ”Why did Xi Meng suddenly feel unwell?”

”She went to the workshop today. Would you believe if I said she saw workers moving things and wanted to help?”

Mu Yichen told Qin Mu, recalling the scene, though it was just a minor assist, seemed harmless at the time, but when she returned to the company...

Mu Yichen sighed helplessly, while Qin Mu also felt somewhat defeated.

Pregnant women shouldn’t be fragile, but one mustn’t be careless; it’s better to be fragile than to be reckless, even in the slightest.

”Spent the whole day with Qin Mingzhu?”

Later, the rain intensified outside, and the car became unusually quiet, prompting Mu Yichen to chat with her again.

”Yes!”

Qin Mu nodded slightly.

Her simple response made Mu Yichen stop any further conversation, resigning to play the role of a driver.

That night, the old man wanted to drink again, but considering his current health state, Mu Yichen had to stop him, with Qin Mu not indulging him either. After all, at their age, some things can’t be joked about.

”With those four gone, the house suddenly got so quiet!”

The old man remarked, eating dinner, his brows raised, appearing a bit lost.

Qin Mu glanced at him: ”After dinner, I’ll accompany you for a game of chess!”

”That’d be great! It’s been a while since we’ve sparred!”

The old man instantly perked up at Qin Mu’s suggestion.

Mu Yichen continued to eat quietly, feeling entirely invisible.

They’re playing chess; what’s he supposed to do?

That night, the rain outside grew increasingly heavy, as if poured from above using a hose, while Qin Mu and the old man focused more intensely on their chess game.

The living room was air-conditioned, exceptionally quiet; even the sound of the chess pieces landing could be heard distinctly.

Mu Yichen sat nearby, holding a pillow while watching TV, flipping through several channels, until the old man complained about the noise and asked him to lower the volume.

After about half an hour, they finally finished a game, Mu Yichen’s dark eyes glanced over, holding back his breath, waiting for the old man’s ”that’s all for today,” but then...

”Let’s play another one, I made a mistake a moment ago, won’t repeat that foolish error this time!”

The old man frowned, beginning to reset the chessboard.

Seeing the old man so earnest, Qin Mu continued to accompany him.

Mu Yichen hugged the pillow tightly, his distinct fingers squeezing the remote, about to go crazy.

Even lying down with Qin Mu in bed, he’d prefer her not to accompany others.

And it’s already ten, how many games do the grandpa and granddaughter plan to play?

Only until almost eleven did the old man stand up, twisting his waist tiredly, then saying: ”Let’s call it a day. Continue tomorrow!”

Qin Mu still sat on the couch, leaned back, smiling gently: ”Grandpa, you lost two games today!”

”Ahem! Not in good form today, try again tomorrow!”

The old man thought, with only the three of them at home, they’d have to play chess every night otherwise it’d get dull.

”Alright! If Grandpa loses again tomorrow, I’ll ask for some of your treasures!”

Qin Mu eagerly suggested.

”Hmph! Like there’s always a third time? We’ll see! I’ve taken a liking to something lately; if you lose tomorrow, you buy it for me!”

The old man said, recalling an old item he saw in an antique shop recently, holding onto it for a long time but hesitated to buy; this seemed like a good chance.

”Alright!” Qin Mu agreed readily.

Once Grandpa returned to his room, Qin Mu finally looked diagonally across where Mu Yichen was staring at her with a rather gloomy look, as if there was something dirty on her face?

”Is there something on my face?”

Qin Mu asked hesitantly.

Mu Yichen dropped the pillow, shut off the TV, stood up: ”It’s time for bed!”

Qin Mu watched him walk ahead without following, softly saying: ”Mu Yichen, let’s sleep in separate rooms!”

Mu Yichen froze where he stood, silent.

Qin Mu got up, casually walked past him.

Mu Yichen still stood there, watching her light-footed figure up the stairs, wondering what she’d said.

Separate rooms? Sleep?

Her tone seemed neither a question nor a discussion, though soft, yet it seemed decided.

Qin Mu entered her room, then searched for her clothes, intending to go to Huanhuan’s room.

Just at the moment of departure, she was blocked at the door by Mu Yichen.

Qin Mu had comfortable pajamas draped over her arm, looking up at Mu Yichen’s stern demeanor.

”Did you just speak to me?”
