His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1721: Chapter 481: The Beginning and the End (26)_4

Qin Mu didn’t reply to him, just gave him a look that said ”I’m not a child”, then turned around, grabbed her coat from the entrance, and walked out.

Suddenly, the house was left with just the two men. This wasn’t the first time they found themselves staring at each other this way.

”I’ve heard that while I was gone, you two frequently argued because of me. Mu Yichen, if I wanted to take Qin Mu away, do you think I would have waited until now? Do you think if I wanted her, I would have let her go to Rongcheng for a fashion show? Let you two get married? I can tell you, I did once plan to hide her away, so she couldn’t return to Rongcheng. I did once think about keeping her in Paris for the rest of her life. Every thought you might have imagined, I’ve had them all.”

Jian Yan let out a cold laugh as he kept his gaze fixed on Mu Yichen’s arrogant expression, yet he rarely offered such an obstinate explanation.

The more Jian Yan spoke, the worse Mu Yichen’s expression became, and the more uncomfortable he felt.

However, he remained silent, still listening, because during this cold war between him and Qin Mu, he indeed slowly expressed his emotions.

”But those are all past matters. She has always respected me, treated me as a mentor, as a senior. If I were you, I would never tell Qin Mu that her mentor fell in love with her. I would keep it from her, letting her live her life carefree, rather than burdening her with confusion on how to interact with her mentor.”

Jian Yan said as he looked at Mu Yichen, lighting another cigarette after finishing one.

Jian Yan felt it was necessary to have a good talk with Mu Yichen about this matter. Qin Mu, who used to be particularly carefree, had nothing to hide between them, said whatever was on her mind, but now, she didn’t even dare to get angry at him.

Maybe it’s because he has become a father, or maybe he truly knows it’s time to let go. He thinks he should remind Mu Yichen of some things.

It felt like an eternity, their relationship turned from a harmonious master-disciple bond to a point of not being able to see each other, like wandering in a foggy forest, today, finally reaching the path to light.

Or perhaps! It’s right to talk it out!

”But she’s an adult, she’s not a porcelain doll that will shatter with a single kick. This world is naturally cruel, I choose to let her face her problems!”

Mu Yichen leaned coldly against the sofa, speaking every word from his heart, though they were ruthless.

”That is indeed your style, which is why over the years you two together frequently end up in cold wars, misunderstandings, separations. You might say these are common issues between married couples, but to me, it’s extremely childish.”

When Jian Yan spoke to Mu Yichen, there was a sense of helplessness, though he still managed a slight smile.

”Is that so? So, what do you think your disappearance this time is about? Something a rational adult would do? I actually think I’m even less mature than you.”

Mu Yichen would never admit to being childish, and he also believed that humans are inherently somewhat childish.

It was just that the emotions of the moment were beyond their control.

”I won’t argue with you on that, but how could you bear to make her so sad? Think about how she once clearly loved you but didn’t dare to love, finally getting together with you, shouldn’t you treat her better?”

Jian Yan didn’t deny his childishness either, but he still wanted to have this conversation with Mu Yichen.

Mu Yichen fell silent this time, remaining indifferent.

Their past as a couple, wasn’t something anyone else should tell him about; it was what Mu Yichen hated most when others talked about it.

Was he not good to Qin Mu?

He wanted to be infinitely good to her!

But...

Sometimes, some emotions were truly beyond his control at the time.

And wasn’t it normal for couples to bicker?

”As for my affairs, don’t worry about it. Are you really not planning to give Xiao Wei a proper status?”

Mu Yichen took a fierce drag on his cigarette, controlled his temper, and changed the subject.

”My affair with Xiao Wei isn’t urgent right now!”

Jian Yan fell silent for a moment before saying this sentence.

He hadn’t thought about marriage, even now, he became a father, he didn’t feel he should marry just for that reason.

He would be responsible for the child and would treat Xiao Wei well; from now on, they would live together under one roof, and that’s all.

”Do you have any wine?”

Jian Yan suddenly looked inside and asked.

”Yes!”

Since Qin Mu was going to say goodbye to Xiao Wei, they couldn’t join her, so they decided to have a few drinks together, putting all the unspeakable words into the wine.

——

”But what we said today, I still hope you don’t tell Qin Mu. Mu Yichen, this much, you should be able to do, right?”

Jian Yan instructed Mu Yichen before leaving.

”No need for your reminders on this!”

Mu Yichen returned with the same words Jian Yan spoke when he first walked in.

Jian Yan nodded, then leaned over to extinguish the cigarette: ”All the conflicts between us, let them be wiped out today, right here!”

Mu Yichen didn’t speak, just nodded, standing up to see Jian Yan out.

”By the way, the matters in Rongcheng...”

”Don’t worry, when I get back, I’ll resolve it immediately!”

Mu Yichen lifted his eyes to gaze at him, responding seriously!
