Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 680: Chapter 679: World Collapse

Lin Yun and Qing Zhu were feeling each other out in Divine Celestial City, while the battle outside its walls had already reached its end.

The Grand Commander of the Demon Palace was showing no mercy to the Divine Palace Warriors and three Commanders who refused to surrender. Since they had yet to yield, he had no intention of sparing their lives.

Over a thousand Divine Palace Warriors had been slaughtered to the last. Of the three Commanders, the other two had also been slain, leaving the Grand Commander of the Divine Palace as the sole survivor.

His body was covered in countless wounds. Two longswords were buried deep in his abdomen and chest. Gazing upon his fallen Divine Palace Warriors and Commanders, the Grand Commander let out a wild, desolate laugh.

”Haha! A war that has lasted for so many years... who would have thought it would end like this for my Divine Palace? Haha! I am too ashamed to face the ancestors of the Divine Palace...”

He roared with laughter. Then, without a moment’s hesitation, he plunged the half-broken longsword in his hand directly into his heart.

With his heart pierced, the Grand Commander spat out a mouthful of blood. In the end, the Grand Commander of the Divine Palace had met his end by his own hand.

Perhaps it was because all the Divine Palace Warriors were dead, or perhaps because he felt he had brought shame upon his title as Grand Commander. Whatever the reason, the Grand Commander of the Divine Palace died before the eyes of all.

With the death of the Grand Commander of the Divine Palace, the war between the Divine Palace and the Demon Palace, which had lasted for an untold number of years, was finally brought to a close. The final result was the utter defeat of the Divine Palace at the hands of the Demon Palace.

However, just as the Grand Commander’s body began to fall, before the members of the Demon Palace had a chance to celebrate, a soul-shaking dragon’s roar echoed from the heavens.

The sound seemed to descend from the highest heavens, yet it also felt as if it was whispering right in their ears. No matter where they were, everyone in this world heard that dragon’s roar.

Sitting in the courtyard, Lin Yun’s eyes locked onto the sky the moment he heard the dragon’s roar. Beside him, Qing Zhu spoke softly, ”It’s been decided, Lin Yun. We are not of this world, after all. It’s time to leave.”

Hearing her words, Lin Yun turned to look at Qing Zhu. At that moment, Qing Zhu’s body began to turn transparent, as if she were about to vanish into thin air. It wasn’t just her; Lin Yun’s own body was also slowly fading away.

Little Ape, Black-striped Tiger, the Monk and Daoist, Xi Zijin, Song Tianyang, Wei Yunhang—all of their bodies were becoming transparent.

Watching the slowly fading forms of Xi Zijin and the others, the Grand Commander of the Demon Palace knew that these people who had descended from the heavens were about to depart. The Demon Palace had defeated the Divine Palace, and so the visitors’ time here was over.

The ten Commanders of the Demon Palace were reluctant to see Lin Yun and his companions leave. After all, without their help, how could the Demon Palace possibly have defeated the Divine Palace in just half a year?

”Brother Lin Yun, whether we ever meet again, remember this: you will forever be a great benefactor to the Demon Palace!” Though he could no longer see Lin Yun’s form, the Grand Commander of the Demon Palace still shouted with all his might.

The voice of a Celestial Spirit Realm Martial Artist, infused with Elemental Power, could travel a great distance. As he was fading away, Lin Yun heard the Grand Commander’s shout.

A smile touched Lin Yun’s lips. ’Even though I’m not from this world,’ he thought, ’I’ll never forget the memories I’ve made here.’

Lin Yun and his companions vanished completely. And it wasn’t just them. In two other worlds, Luo Feng’s group and Qingfeng Saint’s group also disappeared at the very same moment.

In their two worlds, the war between the Divine Palace and Demon Palace had not yet been decided, so Luo Feng and the others were baffled by their own sudden departure.

A wave of dizziness washed over him. When Lin Yun opened his eyes again, he found himself in what seemed to be a void. It was pitch-black all around, and before him stood a massive hall, a thousand meters tall.

As Lin Yun came to his senses, Little Ape, Black-striped Tiger, the Monk and Daoist, Xi Zijin, and the others appeared beside him one by one. However, Qing Zhu and her people were gone.

The companions looked at each other and smiled. ’This must be where the ruin’s inheritance and treasures are,’ they thought. ’And the secrets of this place should finally be revealed here as well.’

At first, all their gazes were fixed on the massive hall. After a moment, however, it was Xi Zijin who first noticed that beneath their feet lay the three imprisoned worlds.

Everyone looked down in unison. At that moment, it was as if Lin Yun and his friends were standing on top of the three worlds, even though they were as insignificant as grains of sand in comparison.

A smile touched their lips as they looked down upon the three imprisoned Spaces, but it didn’t last long. Soon, their expressions changed drastically.

Before their very eyes, the three Spaces began to collapse. Witnessing this, Lin Yun’s expression changed completely. He knew the consequences of a Space collapsing—not a single person living within those worlds would survive.

Just as Lin Yun and his friends were watching, high above Divine Celestial City, the members of the Demon Palace had yet to process their sudden disappearance when the ground of the entire Space began to tremble.

The violent tremors left the Grand Commander and his men completely bewildered. Before their eyes, Divine Celestial City itself dissolved into nothingness amid the shaking.

The ground was ripped apart as if by an unseen force, creating enormous, bottomless fissures that sent a shiver of terror through the Grand Commander and his men.

As the ground shook, cracks also appeared in the sky. Mysterious energy formed into beams of light that rained down. Anyone touched by these beams was instantly vaporized, leaving not even a corpse behind.

The Grand Commander had never witnessed such a scene. He had no idea what was happening, only that the nearly ten thousand Demon Palace Warriors who had been surrounding him a moment ago had vanished without a trace.

Divine Celestial City was gone. Demon City was gone. The fissures in the ground widened, like the gaping maws of sky-swallowing beasts, devouring the cities and everyone in them, pulling them down into the bottomless depths.

Some who flew into the sky to escape the fissures were simply erased by the beams of light from above.

Watching everything unfold, the Grand Commander’s face was a mask of pure terror. There were no screams, because any Demon Palace Warrior touched by the light was annihilated before they even had a chance to cry out.
