Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 662: Chapter 661: The Second Commander’s Resolution

Tens of thousands stood in the sky. Before the battle had even begun, the surrounding atmosphere grew extremely tense, as if the very air had frozen solid.

After a brief silence, the Grand Commander roared at the Demon Palace Warriors behind him, ”Demon Palace Warriors, kill!”

”Kill!” Sky-shaking battle cries erupted from the Demon Palace Warriors behind the Grand Commander. Immediately, more than ten thousand Demon Palace Warriors charged toward the Divine Palace.

Seeing this, the Grand Commander of the Divine Palace also bellowed, ”Kill...!”

In an instant, the entire expanse of Space was flooded with violent fluctuations of Elemental Power. The eight Commanders of the Demon Palace faced off against the five Commanders of the Divine Palace, and the Demon Palace Warriors clashed with the Divine Palace Warriors.

The only ones who hadn’t moved were six people. Qing Zhu and Xi Zijin’s group stood facing each other. Looking at Xi Zijin, a faint smile played on Qing Zhu’s face.

”Xi Zijin, are you worried about Lin Yun?” Qing Zhu asked with a light chuckle.

Hearing Qing Zhu’s words, Xi Zijin didn’t reply. Instead, the Elemental Power of her Celestial Spirit Realm Perfection cultivation soared into the sky. Seeing this, Qing Zhu showed no signs of anger and continued to chuckle. ”It’s time we settled this. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind killing you with my own hands.”

As her words fell, Qing Zhu also erupted with a terrifying Elemental Power, one that surpassed Xi Zijin’s—the Limit of the Celestial Spirit Realm.

This was the first time Qing Zhu had revealed her full Cultivation Realm. All this time, Lin Yun had been unable to accurately sense what level her Cultivation had reached.

After both Qing Zhu and Xi Zijin unleashed their Elemental Power, Song Tianyang, Wei Yunhang, the Monk, and the Daoist all unleashed their own.

Song Tianyang was at Celestial Spirit Realm Perfection, Wei Yunhang was at the Limit of the Celestial Spirit Realm, and as for the Monk and the Daoist, they were only at the Peak of the Celestial Spirit Realm.

They struck almost simultaneously. Xi Zijin faced Qing Zhu, the Monk faced Wei Yunhang, and the Daoist faced Song Tianyang.

In the very first exchange, it was obvious that Xi Zijin’s trio was at a disadvantage. Compared to Qing Zhu’s group, they were indeed somewhat lacking in strength.

But Xi Zijin’s trio was not to be underestimated, especially the Monk and the Daoist. It was impossible for the two of them to defeat Wei Yunhang and Song Tianyang, but it wouldn’t be so simple for Wei Yunhang’s pair to kill them either.

If you had to say what the Monk and Daoist were best at, besides swindling and cheating, it would probably be their knack for survival. Ever since Lin Yun first met them, their methods for staying alive had been endless.

The great battle was on the verge of exploding. Meanwhile, Lin Yun and his men remained on guard on the hillside. After being repelled for a second time, the Second Commander had not launched another attack. However, Lin Yun knew this didn’t mean the Second Commander had given up. On the contrary, his next charges would only be more ferocious and frequent.

Just moments ago, Lin Yun and his men had killed many scouts sent by Qing Zhu, but one had ultimately managed to get past. ’Qing Zhu’s orders must have reached the Second Commander by now.’

Just as Lin Yun had guessed, the person sent by Qing Zhu had found the Second Commander and his forces. Looking at the thousands of Divine Palace Warriors, each with their head hung in dejection, the scout’s expression also turned grim.

Upon seeing the Second Commander, this person relayed Qing Zhu’s orders to him, word for word.

”Second Commander, the Qing Zhu Commander orders you to rendezvous with her before dawn tomorrow, no matter the cost or method.”

Hearing this, the Second Commander’s face remained grim. ’It seems I was right,’ he thought. ’The Demon Palace’s main force has indeed engaged Qing Zhu and the others. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have issued such an order.’

’No matter the cost... that means even if half of these ten thousand Divine Palace Warriors fall here, we must break through Lin Yun’s blockade.’

He remained silent, his mind racing, trying to figure out how to break through Lin Yun’s defensive line. ’Even though we’ve charged twice... Lin Yun only started with a hundred warriors, and by now, he probably only has a few dozen left. But my Divine Palace Warriors...’

After two failed charges, the Divine Palace Warriors had lost all their Battle Intent. One look at them was enough to know they no longer had any confidence in fighting a bloody battle with Lin Yun and his men.

”Dammit! When did the Demon Palace get such a powerful combat unit...?” After a long moment of thought, the Second Commander cursed under his breath.

Hearing the Second Commander’s cold voice, a crazed glint flashed in the eyes of the Third Commander beside him. He looked at the Second Commander and spoke in a low voice.

After listening to the Third Commander, a look of disbelief appeared on the Second Commander’s face. He whispered to the Third Commander, ”What are you suggesting? Isn’t that just using our warriors’ lives as stepping stones?”

”Second Commander, we have no other choice. Commander Qing Zhu and the others can’t hold out for long. I estimate two days at most. If we can’t break through Lin Yun’s defensive line by then, Commander Qing Zhu and her forces will undoubtedly be defeated,” the Third Commander replied.

Hearing this, the Second Commander fell silent. A full quarter-hour passed before the look in his eyes hardened with resolve. ’Break through Lin Yun’s defense, no matter the cost.’ The Second Commander had now been driven to complete desperation.

He rose to his feet and shouted to the several thousand surviving Divine Palace Warriors. At his call, all the Divine Palace Warriors stood up.

Lin Yun and his men, who had been resting for nearly four hours, were now sitting on the corpse-strewn hillside. Lin Yun looked at the sixty surviving Demon Palace Warriors and asked a question.

”Do you regret fighting this battle with me?”

Hearing Lin Yun’s words, the sixty Demon Palace Warriors answered one by one.

”Commander Lin Yun, this is the most satisfying battle I’ve ever fought. I have no regrets!”

”That’s right, Commander Lin Yun! We have no regrets!”

Seeing the smiles on their faces, Lin Yun smiled faintly. ’Those who survive this great battle will surely undergo an earth-shattering transformation. Then, they will truly be worthy of the title of the Demon Palace’s strongest squad.’

”As long as you have no regrets. The Divine Palace’s next charge will only be more ferocious. Be prepared,” Lin Yun said calmly.

”Let them come! As long as we have a single breath left in us, we won’t let them pass!” the Demon Palace Warriors declared.

Although these surviving Demon Palace Warriors were all covered in wounds, with some injuries so deep that bone was visible...

...these wounds hadn’t brought them down. On the contrary, the injuries only made this elite squad appear even sharper, their killing intent more menacing.

As Lin Yun spoke, countless black dots appeared on the horizon. It didn’t take a genius to know they were from the Divine Palace. Seeing this, without even needing a word from Lin Yun, the Demon Palace Warriors each grabbed their Spirit Soldiers and rose to their feet. They stared at the approaching black dots, and a wild grin spread across every one of their faces.
