Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 673: Chapter 672: A Trial for You

Early the next morning, the Monk and Daoist led five thousand Demon Palace Warriors out of the city. With five thousand Demon Palace Warriors, plus the two of them, taking a Divine Palace city would not be difficult.

Of course, Lin Yun and Xi Zijin also left the city with the two of them. Leading the Demon Palace’s strongest battle team, Lin Yun intended to take a Divine Palace city with just eighty men.

After a few days of selection, the final number for the Strongest Battle Team was set at eighty people. Although it hadn’t reached its full capacity, Lin Yun had always believed in quality over quantity for the team.

The Grand Commander and others saw Lin Yun’s group off. Once outside the city, Lin Yun parted ways with the Monk and Daoist. He then led the Strongest Battle Team toward a Divine Palace city to the west.

Fighting alongside Lin Yun once again, the thirty veteran Warriors of the Strongest Battle Team were calm and unchanged. As for the fifty new recruits, they seemed somewhat excited.

After all, this was their first battle as Warriors of the Strongest Battle Team.

Lin Yun and Xi Zijin rode on the back of the Black-striped Tiger, while Little Ape lay sprawled on its head, fast asleep.

They didn’t force their pace, instead proceeding at a normal speed. A day later, the group arrived near the Divine Palace city.

When they were still fifty li from the Divine Palace city, Lin Yun ordered everyone to halt. He and Xi Zijin both leaped off the Black-striped Tiger’s back. Lin Yun looked at Xi Zijin first and said, ”You are not to make a move in this battle, and you must listen to my every command.”

Hearing this, Xi Zijin nodded. Just being able to go into battle with Lin Yun was enough to satisfy her, so she didn’t insist on these matters.

At Lin Yun’s side, Xi Zijin no longer had that icy demeanor. Although she still wasn’t very talkative, a sweet smile could often be seen on her face.

In this respect, she was like a completely different person from the Xi Zijin of the past.

Not only was he preventing Xi Zijin from acting, but Lin Yun himself had no plans to intervene. Compared to the battle where they ambushed the Second Commander, taking this city was a piece of cake.

Therefore, Lin Yun saw this battle as a trial—a chance to temper these new Warriors of the Strongest Battle Team with real combat experience.

He looked at the eighty Warriors of the Strongest Battle Team. Needless to say, the thirty who had experienced the bloody battle against the Divine Palace’s Second Commander were seasoned. But for the fifty new recruits, this would indeed be a brutal fight.

”There are a total of two thousand Divine Palace Warriors guarding the city, while there are only eighty of you. Don’t think the difference in numbers is too great. As Warriors of the Strongest Battle Team, you are expected to be able to fight one against ten. Therefore, I have only one requirement for you in this battle: take this city as quickly as possible,” Lin Yun said calmly, looking at the eighty men.

Hearing Lin Yun’s words, the group replied in unison. Immediately, Lin Yun gave the order to attack. Upon hearing his command, the eighty Warriors of the Strongest Battle Team flew toward the nearby Divine Palace city.

Watching their retreating figures, Xi Zijin asked, ”There are only eighty of them. Can they really conquer a city guarded by two thousand Divine Palace Warriors?”

Hearing this, Lin Yun just smiled faintly without answering. ’In my opinion, this battle is the perfect opportunity to train these new Warriors.’

The Divine Palace had two thousand Warriors, but this city had no Divine Palace Commander stationed there. In the last major battle, Lin Yun had killed four Divine Palace Commanders, including the Second Commander.

In addition, another Divine Palace Commander was killed during the battle against the Grand Commander’s forces. The Divine Palace now only had five Commanders left, and all of them were currently holed up in Divine Celestial City.

Eighty men facing two thousand Divine Palace Warriors—this, in Lin Yun’s view, was the most suitable trial. If the Strongest Battle Team couldn’t even win this fight, it would be truly inexcusable.

The eighty men flew rapidly toward the Divine Palace city. The Divine Palace Warriors patrolling the city walls spotted the Demon Palace Warriors approaching at high speed in the distance and began shouting alarms.

They made no attempt to conceal their approach. The eighty Warriors of the Strongest Battle Team had been ordered to take the city in the shortest time possible, so they chose a direct, frontal assault.

Seeing only a few dozen Demon Palace Warriors charging at them, the two thousand defending Divine Palace Warriors were momentarily stunned. However, facing an attack from the Demon Palace, they still flew swiftly into the sky to engage the enemy.

Neither side wasted words. The battle began the moment they met. The eighty members of the Strongest Battle Team faced two thousand Divine Palace Warriors, meaning each of them had to fend off an assault from dozens of enemies.

While Lin Yun’s team had launched their attack, the Monk and Daoist had also arrived at another Divine Palace city. Compared to Lin Yun’s group, the Monk and Daoist’s method was even more direct.

Arriving right outside the walls, the five thousand Demon Palace Warriors, led by the Monk and Daoist, swarmed toward the Divine Palace city.

The Demon Palace Warriors brought by the Monk and Daoist numbered more than double the Divine Palace’s forces, so there was basically no suspense in this battle.

The moment the two sides clashed, the Demon Palace Warriors’ Battle Intent surged. In contrast, the Divine Palace Warriors were all demoralized. It was no wonder; after suffering a crushing defeat, the Divine Palace Warriors had already lost their confidence.

Watching the battle unfold above the city, the Monk said smugly, ”With Lord Buddha on the move, how can this little Divine Palace trash be our opponents? I can take this city in one hour.”

Hearing the Monk’s arrogant words, the Daoist chuckled and teased from the side, ”It looks like you haven’t lifted a finger. Are you not planning to fight?”

”Who says Lord Buddha won’t fight? I was just giving the Divine Palace people a small chance,” the Monk retorted.

As he spoke, the Space Ring on the Monk’s hand flashed, and a Long Staff appeared in his grasp. With a great shout, the Monk charged toward the Divine Palace forces, bellowing as he went.

”Haha! Your Grandpa Buddha has arrived! Surrender now if you don’t want to die!”

Seeing the Monk’s antics, the Daoist also brandished his Duster and charged toward the Divine Palace Warriors.

The outcome on the Monk and Daoist’s side was already certain. Their numbers were far greater, and the morale of the two armies was completely mismatched. It was impossible for the Divine Palace to win. Furthermore, the Monk and Daoist’s own Combat Power was formidable, making victory an easy task.

Rushing into the fray, the Monk swung his Long Staff relentlessly. Though it looked like an ordinary staff, this Long Staff was actually a Top Level Celestial Spirit Soldier.

The Monk and his allies were fighting with ease. Meanwhile, back on Lin Yun’s side, the Strongest Battle Team had already engaged the Divine Palace Warriors. Looking at Xi Zijin, Lin Yun smiled and said, ”Let’s go. We’ll go take a look too.”

Hearing this, Xi Zijin nodded slightly. With Little Ape and the Black-striped Tiger in tow, Lin Yun’s group also arrived outside the city. Gazing at the battle before him, Lin Yun had no intention of interfering. This was the Strongest Battle Team’s fight, and he would not meddle.
