Chapter 652: Chapter 651: The Great War is Imminent

It was as if he were in a boundless darkness, the agonizing screams of those thrown into the three Spaces echoing in his ears.

He slowly opened his eyes with some effort. After a moment, his vision cleared and he looked around, realizing he was lying on the bed in his own room. As he sat up, Xi Zijin, seeing he was awake, walked over and asked with concern.

”How do you feel?”

Hearing Xi Zijin’s words, Lin Yun gently shook his head. He remembered struggling to step onto the central platform. After that, the world had started to spin rapidly, and then... those scenes had appeared before his eyes.

After a moment of contemplation, Lin Yun asked softly, ”How did I get back to my room?”

”You have the nerve to ask. Don’t you know you passed out in the underground Martial Arts Training Ground?” Xi Zijin replied.

According to Xi Zijin, Lin Yun had suddenly fainted right after successfully stepping onto the central platform. Since she couldn’t get onto the platform herself, she had to call for the Grand Commander. Only after the Grand Commander deactivated the Array was Xi Zijin able to bring Lin Yun back to his room.

Lin Yun was shocked to learn he had been unconscious for an entire day and night. At the same time, the images he had seen on the central platform were impossible to forget.

After chatting with Xi Zijin for a bit, Lin Yun said he wanted to rest. Seeing that he seemed to be all right, Xi Zijin told him to rest well and then left the room.

After Xi Zijin left, Lin Yun sat alone in his room. The visions from the central platform in the underground Martial Arts Training Ground felt so real, as if he had actually been there, and they filled his mind with countless questions.

Pondering in his room, Lin Yun wondered, ’Were these visions passed down from the ancestors of the Demon Palace? If so, what were they trying to tell me?’

Sitting on a chair in his room, Lin Yun mulled over the visions. ’This is probably related to these mysterious ruins,’ he guessed. ’And those people forcibly thrown into this world by the shadowy figures... they might have been the ancestors of the Demon Palace and the Divine Palace.’

Just as Lin Yun was lost in thought, the Grand Commander knocked on his door. After letting him in, the Grand Commander saw that Lin Yun seemed fine and was finally able to relax.

”Lin Yun, are you all right?” the Grand Commander asked, still a little worried.

”I’m fine.” Lin Yun nodded slightly. He didn’t tell the Grand Commander about the visions he had seen; after all, he didn’t understand what they meant himself.

After inquiring about his health, the Grand Commander’s expression grew grave. ”Lin Yun, there’s been movement from the Divine Palace.”

Hearing this, Lin Yun’s expression didn’t change. ’It’s been long enough,’ he thought. ’Qing Zhu was bound to make a move. The Divine Palace Warriors’ morale must have recovered by now.’

According to the Grand Commander, the Divine Palace Warriors had already left Divine Celestial City. In total, over ten thousand of them were marching toward Demon City.

”So the final battle is about to begin?” he said calmly. Then, Lin Yun gathered the Monk, the Daoist, and the others, and set off with the Grand Commander for the Demon Palace city closest to Divine Celestial City.

After a full day and night of travel, Lin Yun’s group arrived at the Demon Palace city closest to Divine Celestial City. Five Demon Palace Commanders were currently stationed there, guarding it.

The group went straight to the main hall in the city’s center. According to the five Demon Palace Commanders on guard, the Divine Palace Warriors were now a hundred li away.

For a Celestial Spirit Realm expert, a hundred li was no distance at all. If the Divine Palace launched a sudden attack, they could reach the city walls in a very short time.

Lin Yun asked if they had seen any sign of Qing Zhu. In response, the five Demon Palace Commanders reported that the Divine Palace seemed to be aiming for a decisive, head-on battle this time. Not only was Qing Zhu present, but so were the Divine Palace’s ”descended ones,” including Wei Yunhang and Song Tianyang.

’It’s been almost three months since we arrived in these ruins. Looks like it’s time for the final battle.’

Everyone agreed that while Lin Yun’s plans had allowed the Demon Palace to close the gap in overall strength, they would likely still be at a slight disadvantage in a direct confrontation with the Divine Palace.

The only advantage the Demon Palace currently held was arguably the hundred-strong unit of Demon Palace Warriors wielding Spirit Soldiers.

The Grand Commander had been assembling this extremely formidable fighting force. Though numbering less than a hundred, each member was a Demon Palace Warrior second in strength only to the Ten Commanders of the Demon Palace.

Coupled with the Spirit Soldiers they wielded, their combat power was extraordinary. This unit could absolutely take on five Divine Palace Warriors for every one of their own.

This was the only unit that gave the Demon Palace a clear advantage. If deployed correctly, they could catch the Divine Palace completely by surprise.

Based on what Lin Yun had learned while at the Divine Palace, Qing Zhu hadn’t given any Spirit Soldiers to his people. ’Perhaps Qing Zhu simply doesn’t have that many,’ he thought.

After all, not everyone was as rich as the Monk and the Daoist. Those two were practically dripping with wealth, like a pair of crass, new-money tycoons.

The Divine Palace had already amassed over ten thousand Warriors a hundred li outside the city. According to intelligence received by the Demon Palace, they hadn’t attacked yet because their forces hadn’t fully assembled.

Nearly ten thousand more Divine Palace Warriors were en route from two of their other cities.

Upon hearing this, Lin Yun decided the best defense was a good offense. They couldn’t let the two Divine Palace forces regroup.

Lin Yun’s plan was to take the offensive: he would lead the Demon Palace’s elite hundred-man squad to intercept the ten thousand reinforcing Divine Palace Warriors.

Meanwhile, the Monk, the Daoist, and Xi Zijin would lead the main Demon Palace army to annihilate the Divine Palace force waiting outside the city.

While Lin Yun held off the reinforcements, the Grand Commander’s forces could seize the opportunity to crush the Divine Palace Warriors led by Qing Zhu. The plan was to prevent the two armies from joining forces and to defeat them individually. This was Lin Yun’s strategy.

Hearing the plan, the Grand Commander said worriedly, ”Lin Yun, even though that hundred-man squad is formidable, facing ten thousand Divine Palace Warriors... I’m afraid that’s impossible.”

Hearing this, Lin Yun smiled faintly. ”Our goal isn’t to defeat that army. We just need to stall them. Once you’ve dealt with the Divine Palace force outside the city, we’ll naturally withdraw.”

All Lin Yun needed to do was stall the approaching Divine Palace army. He knew it was impossible for a hundred men to fight ten thousand, so he had no intention of clashing with them head-on.
