Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 661: Chapter 660: Forceful Attack

The Demon Palace Warriors gathered in the square now outnumbered the Divine Palace Warriors led by Qing Zhu outside the city.

Being able to use superior numbers to encircle and annihilate the Divine Palace contingent outside the city was all thanks to Lin Yun and his men holding back the other Divine Palace force.

Taking a deep breath, the Grand Commander shouted, ”Warriors of the Demon Palace! Tonight, our mission is not defense, but offense! How long has it been since we last held a numerical advantage in our battles against the Divine Palace? But tonight, we outnumber their warriors by three thousand! And do not forget—this golden opportunity was created for us by Commander Lin Yun and our one hundred strongest warriors. So tonight, I have only one demand for you: annihilate every last Divine Palace Warrior outside the city!”

Hearing the Grand Commander’s shout, the Battle Intent of every Demon Palace Warrior surged. They knew, of course, that Lin Yun had taken only one hundred Demon Palace Warriors to intercept the Divine Palace army.

They also knew that the reason that Divine Palace contingent had yet to arrive was precisely because Lin Yun and his men were holding them back.

Their hearts filled with nothing but reverence for Lin Yun and that squad of the Demon Palace’s hundred strongest. At the same time, the Demon Palace Warriors swore an oath in their hearts: no matter what, they had to crush the Divine Palace tonight and not let the efforts of Lin Yun and the others be in vain.

”Demon Palace Warriors, move out! For Commander Lin Yun and the strongest warriors of the Demon Palace who are holding back their army, slaughter the Divine Palace tonight!” the Grand Commander roared.

Upon hearing the Grand Commander’s order, over ten thousand Demon Palace Warriors roared in unison, ”Kill!”

One could see that many of the Demon Palace Warriors’ eyes were already bloodshot before the battle had even begun. This time, their Battle Intent soared to the heavens, all because of Lin Yun and that squad of the Demon Palace’s strongest.

It was they who were on the front lines, holding back another Divine Palace grand army despite being outnumbered a hundred to one.

They were fighting the hardest battle, leaving the simplest one for these Demon Palace Warriors. For their sake, if for nothing else, they had to return with a great victory tonight.

Over ten thousand Demon Palace Warriors flew out of the city like a great, dark tide, heading for the Divine Palace encampment outside the city walls. Tonight, they would slaughter everyone from the Divine Palace.

Leading this main force of the Demon Palace, Xi Zijin had reverted to her old self after Lin Yun’s departure. She rarely spoke, her entire being radiating an aura that warned strangers to keep their distance.

Without a word, her expression cold, she flew toward the Divine Palace encampment. Even the Monk and Daoist at her side had grown uncharacteristically serious.

The Demon Palace’s main force had set out. Meanwhile, in the main tent of the Divine Palace, the contingent led by the Second Commander had still not arrived, and Qing Zhu realized something was wrong.

After summoning the Grand Commander and the others and dispatching several Divine Palace scouts, Qing Zhu finally learned that the Second Commander’s force had been intercepted by Lin Yun.

However, when asked how many men Lin Yun had with him, even Qing Zhu was stunned. ’Only a hundred men?’

It wasn’t just Qing Zhu; everyone who heard the news at first thought it was impossible. Think about it—who would take a hundred men to intercept ten thousand? It was utterly preposterous.

Yet, after repeated confirmations, Qing Zhu and the others had no choice but to believe it. Lin Yun really had brought only a hundred men, and he had already successfully repelled two charges from the Second Commander’s forces.

At that moment, Qing Zhu, the five Divine Palace Commanders, Wei Yunhang, and Song Tianyang were all seated in the main tent. Looking at the assembled group, a cold smile appeared on Qing Zhu’s face as they spoke in an equally icy tone.

”A hundred men can hold back ten thousand? Do you have any idea what that implies? Are our Divine Palace Warriors a herd of pigs? Even ten thousand pigs could have stampeded their way through by now!”

For the first time, Qing Zhu had lost their usual composure. And it was true—a hundred men holding back ten thousand. How could Qing Zhu not be furious? It was simply unthinkable.

Hearing Qing Zhu’s cold shout, everyone, including the Grand Commander of the Divine Palace, dared not make a sound. It was indeed..............

”Send someone to inform the Second Commander. I don’t care what methods he uses, he must rendezvous with me here by dawn tomorrow. If he can’t even break through a hundred-man blockade, he can bring me his head,” Qing Zhu ordered coldly when no one spoke.

Hearing Qing Zhu’s order, one of the five Divine Palace Commanders nodded respectfully in affirmation. He then quickly exited the Main Hall and dispatched several Divine Palace Warriors to relay the message to the Second Commander.

Just as the commander had gone out, a Divine Palace Warrior rushed into the main tent and said nervously to Qing Zhu, ”Commander Qing Zhu, the Demon Palace is attacking..........”

”Hmph. How many of them have come?” Qing Zhu asked with a cold snort.

”A rough estimate puts them at over ten thousand. Their numbers should be greater than ours,” the Divine Palace Warrior replied.

Hearing this, the expression on Qing Zhu’s face grew even colder. At this point, Qing Zhu naturally understood Lin Yun’s purpose in holding back the Second Commander’s forces: it was to buy time for the Demon Palace to devour the Divine Palace army here in one fell swoop.

”Lin Yun, let’s just see who can hold out longer—you or me,” Qing Zhu said in an icy tone, a cold smirk playing on their lips.

At this point, everything truly depended on Lin Yun and his men. If they could hold out long enough for the Demon Palace to crush Qing Zhu’s Divine Palace contingent, then this battle would completely reverse the positions of the Demon Palace and the Divine Palace.

But if Lin Yun and his men couldn’t hold on, allowing the Second Commander to provide timely reinforcements, then the Demon Palace’s main force would likely be devoured by Qing Zhu in a counter-attack. If that happened, all hope for the Demon Palace would be lost.

Therefore, in Qing Zhu’s view, as long as their side could hold on and have the Second Commander break through Lin Yun’s blockade at all costs, the Demon Palace would already be as good as defeated.

”Let’s go. Time to welcome our guests from the Demon Palace,” they said to those present. Qing Zhu then led over ten thousand Divine Palace Warriors out of the Divine Palace encampment, waiting for the Demon Palace outside the camp.

Before long, the two armies met outside the Divine Palace encampment. In terms of numbers, the Demon Palace’s side was indeed slightly larger. Moreover, the Demon Palace had eight Commanders, while the Divine Palace had only five.

”Lin Yun is holding back the Second Commander, and you all want to devour my army in one go. But I’m curious to see who will last longer—me, or Lin Yun,” Qing Zhu said to the Demon Palace forces with a cold laugh.

Hearing Qing Zhu’s words, Xi Zijin said to the Grand Commander, ”The three of us will handle the Divine Palace’s Descended. Grand Commander, focus all your efforts on killing the Divine Palace’s men.”

Hearing Xi Zijin’s words, the Grand Commander nodded. Lin Yun had said before that they shouldn’t get too caught up with Qing Zhu’s trio. If they wanted to run, let them. As long as this Divine Palace army was crushed, it would count as a great victory.
