Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 660: Chapter 659: Repelled Again

The sheer frenzy of the Demon Palace Warriors struck fear into their opponents’ hearts once more. The Divine Palace Warriors, who had thought themselves cornered, now realized that fighting these madmen was the real suicide.

Though outnumbered, the Demon Palace Warriors were fearless in the face of wounds and death. The Divine Palace Warriors had never experienced a battle like this.

Truthfully, when two armies clash, the commanders are the most critical factor. Like general, like soldier. They watched as Lin Yun, facing an encirclement of several hundred Divine Palace Warriors, not only showed no fear but slaughtered them until they scrambled away in terror. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

With a man like that leading the Demon Palace’s strongest squad, how could their fighting prowess possibly be weak?

Fighting the Second and Third Commanders and hundreds of Divine Palace Warriors all by himself, Lin Yun’s body became covered in wounds. But the pile of Divine Palace Warrior corpses grew just as quickly.

The expressions on the faces of the Second and Third Commanders were incredibly grim. They seemed completely powerless against Lin Yun. Even with so many men, they couldn’t manage to kill him.

”AHAHAHA...!” Lin Yun laughed aloud as his Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear pierced through a Divine Palace Warrior’s heart. By now, the Divine Palace Warriors who had been besieging him had all stopped their assault.

Following the lead of those surrounding Lin Yun, the Divine Palace Warriors fighting the other Demon Palace members also began to fall back. Gradually, the two forces, which had been locked in a chaotic melee, separated as the Divine Palace forces pulled back.

Lin Yun was drenched in blood, a mix of his own and his enemies’. It wasn’t just him; the rest of the Demon Palace Warriors, along with Little Ape and the Black-striped Tiger, were in the same state.

Gathering behind Lin Yun, the Demon Palace Warriors each wore a bloodthirsty grin as they stared down the numerous Divine Palace Warriors opposite them.

It was an absurd scene. The Demon Palace was now down to a few dozen people, while the Divine Palace still had several thousand. And yet, it was this small group that stared at the thousands of Divine Palace Warriors with eyes brimming with defiance.

Contemptuous smiles played on their lips. Blood dripped continuously from the Spirit Soldiers in their hands, and their eyes, filled with Battle Intent, glared at the Divine Palace ranks.

In contrast, the Divine Palace Warriors all hung their heads, not daring to meet the gazes of their Demon Palace counterparts. It was as if they were facing devils, utterly devoid of the courage to fight.

The Second Commander, of course, saw that his warriors had lost all will to fight. He glanced at the thousands of Divine Palace Warriors around them, then exchanged a look with the Third Commander.

With a look of deep reluctance on his face, the Third Commander muttered to the Second Commander, ”Second Commander, we must retreat...”

Hearing the Third Commander’s words, the Second Commander’s face grew as dark as a thundercloud. Finally, his voice devoid of strength, he said, ”Retreat.”

Once again, Lin Yun and his men had repelled the Divine Palace’s assault. This time, the few dozen Demon Palace Warriors had terrified the thousands of Divine Palace soldiers to their very core.

”Count the casualties. Collect the Spirit Soldiers and the bodies,” Lin Yun said to the Demon Palace Warriors once more.

After a quick headcount, they found that of the eighty-five who remained after the first battle, only sixty were now left. Another twenty-five had fallen.

Their bodies were gathered, and Lin Yun collected all the fallen’s Spirit Soldiers into his Space Ring. The squad, which had started with one hundred men, was now down to sixty.

However, the sixty who survived had changed immensely. A palpable, murderous aura now emanated from them naturally. At the same time, each person had grown more grim and steady.

One didn’t even need to get close; a single glance into their eyes was enough to know that they were true warriors, men who had fought battles of life and death.

Compared to the average Demon Palace Warrior, these sixty men were like demons clawed up from Hell itself. Though few in number, there was no doubt they could flatten any obstacle in their path.

The sixty survivors were all injured, with new wounds laid over old. Lin Yun distributed Healing Medicine to them. No one spoke; they each quietly found a clean spot, sat down cross-legged, and began to tend to their injuries.

After two fierce battles, Lin Yun also gave a Healing Elixir to both Little Ape and the Black-striped Tiger. He took one himself before sitting down cross-legged to heal.

In every fight, Lin Yun was the enemy’s primary target. Over the two battles, he had killed the Ninth and Eighth Commanders, but his own injuries were growing more severe.

To prepare for the battles to come, Lin Yun began to heal as well. This was a war of attrition; the Divine Palace was certain to attack again. Therefore, Lin Yun and his men were already prepared to defend to the death.

They had now repelled two consecutive charges from the Divine Palace, and the sky was slowly darkening. For an entire day, Lin Yun had led one hundred of the Demon Palace’s strongest warriors and held off an army of ten thousand from the Divine Palace, preventing them from advancing a single step. It was an impossible feat. Had they not witnessed it firsthand, no one would have believed that one hundred men could stop two assaults from an army of ten thousand.

「Night fell.」

The Grand Commander and his forces were also ready to attack. In the city’s central plaza, more than ten thousand Demon Palace Warriors had assembled. The Grand Commander, eight other Demon Palace Commanders, the Monk and Daoist, and Xi Zijin were all present.

Looking at the seven Demon Palace Commanders behind him, the Grand Commander said in a grim voice, ”We must not betray the trust Lin Yun has placed in us. He is holding back the other main Divine Palace force. We must annihilate their troops outside the city as quickly as possible.”

At the Grand Commander’s words, the other seven Demon Palace Commanders all nodded in firm agreement.

Three of these seven Demon Palace Commanders had arrived later. When they first heard that Lin Yun had taken only one hundred Demon Palace Warriors to block a main Divine Palace force of ten thousand, all three had thought he was insane.

Even though Lin Yun had taken the Demon Palace’s most powerful squad, one hundred men against ten thousand was, by any measure, a joke.

However, Lin Yun had proven them all wrong with his actions. For an entire day, that Divine Palace division had not advanced a single step. Lin Yun truly had held back an army of ten thousand with only one hundred men.

Though they weren’t there to witness it, the seven Demon Palace Commanders could easily imagine how brutal the fighting must have been for Lin Yun and his men.

The Divine Palace would surely be throwing everything they had at Lin Yun’s position. ’How much pressure must they be under, facing an army one hundred times their size, to hold back that charge?’

Looking down at the ten-thousand-plus Demon Palace Warriors, this was the entire main force of the Demon Palace. They even outnumbered the Divine Palace army outside the city.
