Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 656: Chapter 655: Soaring Morale

A hundred Demon Palace Warriors, facing an encirclement of over ten thousand Divine Palace Warriors, did not flee in disarray as one might expect. On the contrary, though few in number, every Demon Palace Warrior was like a blood-soaked Asura, the Spirit Soldier in their hands radiating a thick, murderous aura.

Facing the combined attack of four Divine Palace Commanders alone, Lin Yun wielded the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear. Purple Flame enveloped the weapon. By this point in the great battle, all four Divine Palace Commanders had realized just how formidable Lin Yun’s Combat Power was.

Lin Yun was currently at Celestial Spirit Realm Perfection Cultivation, while the four Divine Palace Commanders were all at the Limit of the Celestial Spirit Realm. However, facing all four Commanders, Lin Yun had not fallen into the slightest disadvantage. In fact, the Ninth Commander had already been severely wounded by him.

His abdomen had been run clean through by the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear. Blood flowed endlessly from the wound. As the Ninth Commander looked at Lin Yun, his eyes held terror and a faint trace of fear.

Hundreds of Divine Palace members surrounded Lin Yun tightly. Standing within their encirclement, Lin Yun’s figure was ramrod straight. His green robes billowed without a wind, giving him a heroic and imposing air.

”Lin Yun, are you trying to stop us from meeting up with the Qing Zhu Commander?” the Second Commander demanded, his voice cold as he stared at Lin Yun.

In response to the Second Commander’s shout, Lin Yun’s expression remained calm. He neither confirmed nor denied it, saying nothing at all.

”Hmph. With just these hundred men, do you really think you can stop my Divine Palace army?” The Second Commander had already guessed Lin Yun’s intentions and snorted coldly.

Although they had guessed Lin Yun’s intent, the Second Commander and the others found it utterly absurd. Daring to block their ten thousand men with a mere hundred was a blatant provocation.

”Divine Palace Warriors, hear my command! Whoever slays Lin Yun will be promoted to Divine Palace Commander! Kill him!” The murderous intent pouring from the Second Commander had reached its peak as he roared at his subordinates.

The reward for killing Lin Yun was a promotion to Divine Palace Commander. Spurred on by such a high prize, the Divine Palace Warriors charged toward Lin Yun as if injected with chicken blood.

Facing the charging Divine Palace Warriors, Lin Yun showed not a hint of fear. He met them head-on, Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear in hand.

He thrust his spear into a Divine Palace Warrior charging him from the front. But just then, another Divine Palace Warrior behind him landed a punch on the center of his back.

Taking the full force of the Divine Palace Warrior’s blow, Lin Yun spun around and struck out with his palm. A Purple Mist Seal dozens of yards wide came crashing down, slamming several Divine Palace Warriors viciously to the ground.

Dust and smoke billowed up. The number of Divine Palace Warriors swarming Lin Yun grew from a hundred at the start to several hundred now. Furthermore, the Second Commander and the other three Commanders all launched their attacks on Lin Yun as well.

Everyone knows the principle of ”to catch bandits, first catch the king.” Thus, the four Commanders gave Lin Yun their special attention. With Lin Yun drawing the vast majority of the firepower, the pressure on the other Demon Palace Warriors was greatly reduced.

He killed more and more people, but for every Divine Palace Warrior Lin Yun struck down, another would immediately take their place.

With an army of over ten thousand Divine Palace Warriors, the numbers were simply too great. The Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear in his hand was long since dyed red with blood. Against the crimson, its white shaft looked all the more terrifying.

”Dual Dragon World Destruction,” he growled. Two Dragon Shadows burst from the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear. Now three hundred meters long, the twin Dragon Shadows instantly plunged into the midst of the Divine Palace Warriors and began to wreak havoc.

With a single Dual Dragon World Destruction, Lin Yun killed several dozen men. But there was no time for him to rest. Against an army of this size, killing a few dozen Divine Palace Warriors had no real effect.

Even more Divine Palace Warriors charged at Lin Yun. By this point in the battle, numerous wounds had appeared on his body, but he did not choose to retreat. ’This is only the first battle,’ Lin Yun knew. ’If I can’t even stop the Divine Palace’s first assault, then my plan is a failure.’

He thrust his spear through a Divine Palace Warrior’s throat and, without pausing, charged directly toward the Eighth and Ninth Commanders not far ahead.

The Ninth Commander had just been severely wounded by Lin Yun. Seeing him charge over, a flicker of instinctual fear appeared in the Ninth Commander’s eyes.

His eyes sharp and calm, Lin Yun stared at the Eighth and Ninth Commanders and thrust his spear. Faced with Lin Yun’s attack, the Eighth Commander, who stood in front of the Ninth, dodged to the side almost without thinking, narrowly avoiding the blow.

However, after dodging the attack, the Eighth Commander realized Lin Yun had no intention of dealing with him at all. Lin Yun’s target was the Ninth Commander behind him.

His speed not decreasing in the slightest, he unleashed the Red Flame Spear Technique. A thick inferno of Flame wrapped around the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear. Already severely wounded, the Ninth Commander had no way to dodge Lin Yun’s strike.

As he watched in horror, the tip of Lin Yun’s spear, just as expected, plunged brutally into his throat. In that instant, the Ninth Commander felt only a coldness in his throat, as if the wind were blowing into it, accompanied by the warmth of flowing blood.

”Lin Yun...” Looking at Lin Yun, the Ninth Commander spoke with great difficulty. The mocking expression on his face was long gone, replaced by thick, undiluted terror.

The sharp spear tip was embedded in the Ninth Commander’s throat. Then, with a sudden pull, Lin Yun easily lopped off the Ninth Commander’s entire head.

The body tumbled down onto the mountainside below the battlefield. Lin Yun, holding the Ninth Commander’s head, swept his gaze across the Divine Palace Warriors surrounding him.

Staring at the head in Lin Yun’s hand, hundreds, even thousands, of Divine Palace Warriors forgot to attack, standing frozen where they were. The Second Commander and the other two remaining Commanders also revealed expressions of terror.

It was not only the Divine Palace Warriors who witnessed Lin Yun slay the Ninth Commander; many of the Demon Palace Warriors saw it as well.

The head in Lin Yun’s hand bolstered the confidence of the hundred Demon Palace Warriors. Though few in number, an unparalleled killing intent now erupted from them.

It was like an illusion. These mere one hundred Demon Palace Warriors, judging from their aura alone, seemed even more imposing than the Divine Palace’s army of ten thousand.

Each one was already soaked in blood, their Spirit Soldiers appearing all the sharper and colder for it.

Looking at the three Commanders, Lin Yun crushed the Ninth Commander’s head with a single squeeze. He then spoke to them in a cold voice, ”As long as I am here today, none of you will be meeting up with Qing Zhu.”

Lin Yun’s voice was calm, yet it was as if he were stating a simple fact: as long as these hundred Demon Palace Warriors stood guard here, the Divine Palace army would not pass.

After a moment of silence, a flash of fury appeared in the Second Commander’s eyes. He stared at Lin Yun and roared, ”Lin Yun, don’t be so arrogant! I refuse to believe that your pathetic hundred men can actually stop my army of ten thousand Divine Palace Warriors!”

With that, the Second Commander was the first to charge Lin Yun. The Third Commander, Eighth Commander, and several hundred Divine Palace Warriors followed close behind.

Seeing this, Lin Yun roared back in kind, ”Kill!”
