Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 946, Storming the Palace

Translator: Silavin

Among the smashed clay sculptures, there were four in total.

Therefore, four Monsters took form. With a single strike, they instantly killed four of the five.

One person was fortunate enough to escape disaster.

However, when he saw that all his companions beside him had been instantly killed by the suddenly appearing Monsters, he was scared witless.

“S-save me!” He wailed and immediately ran toward the palace exit.

Not only him, the others were also startled, nearly forgetting what they should do.

Who could have imagined that originally everyone thought this palace full of clay sculptures posed no danger? Even after smashing them, no Monsters appeared. Yet just when everyone let their guard down, Monsters emerged from them after all?

Moreover, these Monsters were extremely powerful. Those four Frontliners just now were all Players specialized in Defence. Combined with countless Buffs covering them, their Defence had already reached its peak.

Even so, they were still killed in one hit.

Did this not prove that the Monsters’ Attack completely exceeded their Defence?

This was a battle that could not be fought at all!

If the Frontliners could not withstand it, how could the Backliners possibly have room to Deal Damage?

For a moment, everyone was dumbfounded.

Not until that Frontliner rushed out of the palace did Mikami Saburo react first. He immediately released his Skill, using his Earth Wall to form a barrier at the palace gate, trying his hardest to prevent the Monsters inside from coming out.

“What do we do now!? This wave of Monsters’ have ridiculously high Attack. Our people won’t be able to withstand it at all!” Seifu Murasaki was greatly alarmed. A storm swirled in her hands as she prepared to release Skills at any moment to attack the Monsters and create time for herself to escape.

While reinforcing his own Earth Wall to block the Monsters, Mikami Saburo said coldly. “What else can we do? We’ve already come this far. We can only find a way to eliminate the Monsters one by one! These clay sculptures were fine originally. Why did you insist on having them smash them!? If it weren’t for your reckless command, how could such terrifying Monsters have been released?!”

“Are you trying to pin this on me!?” Seifu Murasaki’s voice immediately turned shrill, furious beyond measure. “I did this to eliminate all possible dangers, didn’t I? When I ordered them to attack the clay sculptures, you didn’t speak up. Now that something’s gone wrong, you want to pin everything on me!? Heh! How laughable! Your ability to be wise after the fact truly fits the consistent style of the Mikami Clan.”

Mikami Saburo immediately became displeased and said loudly. “What’s wrong with our Mikami Clan? At least we’re better than your Seifu Clan’s self-righteousness! To think your Seifu Clan has selected you as its leader. How blind. In terms of qualifications and strength, what capability and qualification do you have to hold that position?”

Seeing that Mikami Saburo and Seifu Murasaki were about to break into a major argument, Nichirin Takeshi angrily warned. “Enough! At a time like this, you still have the mood to quarrel? What we should be doing now is thinking of ways to deal with these Monsters! With so many of us, dealing with four Monsters shouldn’t be a major problem. If it really doesn’t work, I’ll hold the frontline in a moment while you focus on Dealing Damage. Since this palace is so unusual and guarded by powerful Monsters, this must definitely be the very centre of the Earth Tripartite. As long as we clear these Monsters, we can find the Ancient Gods!”

Nichirin Takeshi’s words made Mikami Saburo and Seifu Murasaki stop arguing.

The two glared at each other angrily, then turned their heads away, refusing to speak to one another.

Nichirin Takeshi originally wanted to summon his Armoured Ankylosaurus, ride it, and engage the Monsters in close combat.

However, just as he summoned his Mount, his ears suddenly twitched as he sensed something.

Not just him, quite a few people present heard no sound of Monsters pursuing or attacking Mikami Saburo’s Earth Wall.

It seemed the Monsters inside the palace had no intention of killing their way out.

However, successive sounds did come from within the palace. No one knew what those four Monsters were doing.

Everyone soon understood, just like Nichirin Takeshi, what was happening inside the palace at this moment.

Because the sounds coming from within were almost identical to those made when those Players attacked the clay sculptures earlier!

In other words, the four Monsters that had appeared were attacking the other clay sculptures, trying to release more Monsters!

The four Monsters already gave everyone a tremendous headache.

If even more Monsters were released, who among those present could resist?

Even Nichirin Takeshi would probably struggle to withstand the siege of so many Monsters, right?

At that point, this entire group would inevitably be wiped out.

With the existence of the golden city wall blocking all path of retreat, even if they fled, they would not be able to escape far.

After understanding all this, Nichirin Takeshi immediately shouted. “Quick! Open the palace gate! We must stop them!”

Mikami Saburo naturally understood this as well.

He immediately cancelled his Skill. The Earth Wall that had just formed dissolved, revealing the palace gate.

At this moment, everyone could see clay fragments scattered all over the palace floor.

At least seven Monsters named Golden Asura Guards had already appeared in what seemed to be their Soul Form and were currently helping an eighth Monster break free.

These seven Golden Asura Guards had extremely high Attack Power. With just two or three spear thrusts each, they could shatter a clay sculpture.

In an instant, the eighth clay sculpture was broken.

From the shattered clay sculpture, a Soul flew up, and the eighth Golden Asura Guard emerged from within.

In such a short one or two minutes, the number of Monsters had actually doubled!?

If left unchecked, they would appear at an even faster rate!

Nichirin Takeshi definitely did not want to wait until all five hundred Golden Asura Guards in the palace appeared before engaging them.

Seeing that the eight Golden Asura Guards had no intention of dealing with them but continued attacking the ninth clay sculpture, Nichirin Takeshi dared not slack off in the slightest. He charged in riding his Armoured Ankylosaurus and clashed with the eight Golden Asura Guards.

Behind him, without needing his orders, countless Buffs showered down upon him.

At the same time, various Attack Skills also followed his charge, raining down on the Golden Asura Guards, trying to eliminate these Monsters as quickly as possible and reduce the time Nichirin Takeshi had to endure.

Under the threat of death, everyone cooperated fully, not daring to slow down in the slightest.
