Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 923, Departing for Cherry Blossom Country

Translator: Silavin

Cherry Blossom Country was currently undergoing reconstruction.

If Lu Fan and Jin Zhan travelled there ostentatiously now, they would inevitably attract attention, and trouble would follow.

Therefore, they should handle it like their previous Feather Country visit. They should maintain as low a profile as possible.

Lu Fan asked Jin Zhan about his plan, whether they should assume false identities, directly crossing the now-nonexistent national border to Cherry Blossom Country and find these Ancient Gods.

Jin Zhan said Lu Fan’s plan was not feasible.

Because currently, the international situation was extremely tense.

Dragon Country’s negotiations with the other nations were at a standstill. Whether willing to cooperate with Dragon Country in finding Ancient Gods, or those believing Dragon Country harboured ulterior motives, both sides maintained their tough stance.

Elder Jin and Elder Han had repeatedly spoken at international conferences, still unable to break the deadlock. They were unable to convince the others that Dragon Country’s only goal was helping the world safely traverse this era, not world domination.

At this time, if someone discovered Jin Zhan and Lu Fan infiltrating Cherry Blossom Country, criticism would definitely arise.

Just like what happened in Feather Country. Though Lu Fan and Jin Zhan had acted carefully enough, leaving no evidence. Still, many could attribute Sandy Breeze City’s and the Dark Land’s mysterious disappearance along with several Major Feather Country Families’ annihilation to Dragon Country.

Though indeed true, these people had absolutely no proof!

Despite this, they would still pin the blame on Dragon Country, as their goal was to label Dragon Country as a villain and stop them in their tracks.

This way, those fence-sitting nations would decisively join their camp, and collectively oppose Dragon Country’s request.

At such a time, instead of uniting against the Ancient Gods, they would rather stab their own men behind their backs for some paltry benefits.

It was just unfortunate that these people existed in large numbers.

Therefore, eliminating the Ancient Gods must be done properly, leaving no grounds for criticism.

Lu Fan was somewhat perplexed by this.

With so many restrictions, how could they go to Cherry Blossom Country to find the Ancient Gods at the Earth Tripartite?

Jin Zhan smiled, saying. “I’ve already prepared everything.”

“I’ve learned that in a few days, Cherry Blossom Country will have joint exploration. This is organised by some of Cherry Blossom Country’s Hidden Clans. The location they are investigating, the Earth Tripartite.”

“These Hidden Clans constantly yearn for Cherry Blossom Country’s revival. So, they’re dispatching experts to the Earth Tripartite to see if there are opportunities there. They hope to cultivate several top-tier experts if possible.”

“If the Ancient Gods exist, they also wonder whether they can borrow their power to strengthen themselves.”

“Though these Clans have conspired in secret about this joint exploration, my spies still discovered it. They even learnt of their departure time and assembly location.”

“They come from different Hidden Clans, mutually unaware of each other’s existence. So, I believe we could disguise ourselves, pretending to be people dispatched by some Hidden Clan, then accompanying them to the Earth Tripartite to find the Ancient Gods.”

Hearing this, Lu Fan wondered, “What you’re saying makes sense. These Hidden Clans must be Cherry Blossom Country’s remaining backbone. They want to revive Cherry Blossom Country, want Ancient God Power to help themselves, and want to go to the Earth Tripartite. What a full stack!”

Jin Zhan laughed, asking. “What, planning to infiltrate then kill everyone there?”

Lu Fan smiled. “Nah. I don’t wish to kill more people. But they’re going to a place where Ancient Gods might exist. Shouldn’t they be prepared for negotiations to fail, and they get killed by the Ancient Gods? When that happens, these people’s deaths have nothing to do with me, no?”

Jin Zhan laughed even harder. “I knew you’d think that way.”

After a pause, Jin Zhan’s laughter subsided, his tone lowering. “Actually, my thoughts align with yours. You’re right. I’m Dragon Country’s Supreme Commander. There are just some things I cannot do. But I’m also a citizen of Dragon Country, where some things must be done.”

“Like killing these people. We will infiltrate their group. Nobody would know about my identity. And since I’m not Dragon Country’s Supreme Commander, killing all these people would be of no consequence, right?”

Lu Fan replied wryly. “Brother Jin, ever since returning from Feather Country, you’ve undergone a complete transformation.”

Jin Zhan smiled. “Indeed. To want to kill so many people… I have indeed changed. Still, isn’t this all thanks to you?”

“But I believe you’re right. My changes are towards a positive direction. After all, I’m still Dragon Country’s Supreme Commander. In the eyes of third parties, I can’t let them find any fault with me. Still, with my identity hidden, I would be able to kill without feeling restricted, which for once is truly liberating.”

“Previously, I often had misgivings about killing. Now, I’m able to do it without hesitation, which feels freeing.”

“En, people shouldn’t hold themselves back when they know right from wrong.” Lu Fan smiled. “Some people just seek death. It would be wrong not to grant them this right. Also, if hindered by status from acting openly, one can use another’s knife, right?”

Jin Zhan smiled. “Exactly. This time, I’ll properly do it with ‘another person’s’ knife.”

“Alright, the matter is settled. These next few days, return to Dragon Capital first. I’ve completed all preparations for going to Cherry Blossom Country. I’m just waiting for you to return.”

“After you return to Dragon Capital University, my subordinates will look for you and pass you some items. I’ll also use the Transport Array to return to Dragon Capital University, then we’ll ride our Mounts towards Cherry Blossom Country.”

After a pause, Jin Zhan added. “Right, one more thing. As I mentioned earlier, the progress in the international conferences is not that optimistic, so the two Elders are both occupied.”

“So, do you have any suitable candidates for those three Divine Seats?”

“This time, we might obtain three of them, so you need to consider who should receive them.”

Lu Fan pondered briefly, replying. “Alright, I’ll think it over. Let’s leave it at that. Once I return to Dragon Capital, we’ll discuss the details when we meet.”

“Alright.” After Jin Zhan finished speaking, the Communication Stone’s light dimmed and extinguished.

“Three Divine Seats…” Lu Fan smacked his lips, contemplating how best to allocate these three Divine Seats.
