Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 940, Below One Person, Above Ten Thousand!

For a moment, Nichirin Takeshi was speechless.

Because what Seifu Murasaki said was not wrong. Ancient Gods and the power they possess was truly special. Like the Fallen Corpse Ancient God in Dragon Country, it could manipulate corpses, making them exert their strength from when alive to attack other Players.

Not just Players, even Monsters could become targets for them to control.

The reason Dragon Country’s Far North had so many Monsters continuously charging from the Forbidden Area, nearly breaking through the Far North defence line and wreaking havoc on Dragon Country, lay precisely because of this strange ability.

That Ancient God had accumulated who knows how many puppets, which was why it could create such a magnificent siege at the Far North.

Therefore, leaving several corpses here truly was not a good idea.

Even if these corpses came back to life, they would not cause too much problem with everyone here.

But eliminating them now was better than having them become a hidden danger later.

Nichirin Takeshi’s expression darkened. He said nothing more, waved his hand, and continued leading the group forward.

With this casualty as an experience, everyone’s forward progress became more cautious.

Whenever Asura Priests appeared, all those not Pure Tank Frontliners would consciously retreat, while Assassin Type Players would push forward to assassinate those Asura Priests, preventing their High Damage Skills from injuring the group.

The Monsters in the Earth Tripartite naturally were not limited to just Asura Priests and Asura Guards.

Later, entities appeared riding golden wooden horses that could slide rapidly along the ground.

These wooden horses appeared immobile but their sliding speed was no slower than real mounts.

These were Monsters called Asura Heavy Cavalry, whose Level was even higher than the Asura Priests.

Although their Attacks were not as high as the Asura Priests, when charging on their wooden horses, they truly were not that easy to deal with.

Even heavy-armoured Frontliners found it difficult to resist against them, being knocked about in disarray, unable to hold the frontline.

After the frontline was scattered, these Asura Heavy Cavalry killed into the backline, attacking Mages, Priests, and Archers. For a moment no one could resist, instantly causing significant casualties.

Later, Seifu Murasaki and Mikami Saburo, two powerful Backliners, took action before everyone could barely stabilise their footing and surround and kill the Asura Heavy Cavalry.

This time, over a dozen Backliners died tragically.

Continuing forward, the Asura Priests, Asura Guards, and Asura Heavy Cavalry began forming a reasonable team composition.

Clearly these Monsters had considerable intelligence and actually understood how to utilise their advantages to form a battle formation.

Asura Heavy Cavalry charged at the front. Once they broke through a gap in the opponent’s frontline, Asura Guards would follow through, killing into the enemy formation to slaughter the backline.

While everyone was too busy dealing with Asura Heavy Cavalry and Asura Guards, the Asura Priests could wantonly Deal Damage from behind, battering the Frontliners who cried out in anguish.

One could say that after these three Monster types appeared with reasonable composition, the people gathered here immediately fell into bitter fighting, one after another.

Each encounter with Monsters was a tough battle, and casualties were inevitable.

As for the death toll, it continuously increased.

Soon, everyone faced heavy obstruction and had been walking through the Earth Tripartite for a full three days.

In three days, the team’s numbers plummeted from around three hundred to barely two hundred. This was a reduction of one-third!

Amongst the various Hidden Clans that came here, all had personnel casualties.

Moreover, in these three days, every time everyone advanced, they encountered obstruction from the same Monsters.

This left everyone utterly exhausted, with rapid consumption of Healing Potions and other supplies.

Amongst everyone, the only ones still relatively relaxed were probably Lu Fan, Jin Zhan and the others.

There was no helping it. The five here had rather special Professions, with basically none being true Frontliners.

Even Tao Xiaoman, who had a well rounded Profession, was not a Pure Tank. She could use her Water Therapy and Water Prison to play as a Supporter, legitimately staying at the backline rather than charging forward to ‘feed’ the Monsters.

As for the others, they had either Mage Type Professions or, like Lu Fan, clearly Support Type Professions, so they did not need to push to the front.

Jian Ying, whose Profession Characteristics were extremely unique, could also position herself as an Archer Type Profession, controlling flying swords while staying in the backline to Deal Damage.

Amongst the five, virtually none had truly exerted themselves.

Each battle, it appeared the five were busier than anyone, desperately casting Skills, and after each battle they all sat on the ground panting with exhaustion.

The result? The five only used small Skills, and nine out of ten Skills were thrown wide, playing minimal role in battle.

There was no helping it. These Asura Guards and other Monsters were enemies in Cherry Blossom Country’s eyes.

But in Lu Fan and the others’ eyes, they were allies helping eliminate their enemies for them! ‘The enemy of my enemy is my friend’ how could they bear to hurt their ‘friends’?

Lu Fan even wanted to throw some Support Skills to the Asura Guards and heal them up.

In three days, while casually acting, watching people die tragically… they continued forth

On the fourth day, after a simple resupply, everyone continued.

Walking at the front, Mikami Saburo saw the people following behind no longer had the fighting spirit they’d had upon arrival, and proactively turned back to address everyone. “Everyone, don’t be so downcast.”

“The path to seeking greater strength has never been easy. During this period, people have died, people have been injured. This is all very normal. I have just looked at the Map. We’ve already passed through the Earth Tripartite’s outer perimeter. Going further forward, we should arrive at the ruins of the Imperial City.”

“Within the Imperial City area, any location could be the Ancient God’s hiding place. So going forward, we’re already halfway to success. Next, we just need to find the Ancient Gods.”

Seeing everyone still lacking fighting spirit, Mikami Saburo frowned and continued. “Don’t forget, we came here to seek power, to seek eternal life, to seek being below one person but above ten thousand!”

“How could this goal be so easy to achieve? Everyone present, to reach our current Level, who hasn’t bitterly Levelled Up for over twenty years!? Levelling up for twenty years just to reach Fourth Profession Change.”

“But now, we only need to search this Earth Tripartite for less than twenty days to gain even more powerful strength than before, plus the opportunity for eternal life! Isn’t this deal worthwhile?”

“We’ve already come this far. There’s no turning back. Everyone, steel yourselves. The Ancient Gods are just ahead!”
