Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 913, A Profitable Deal

The two of them nodded, then found a flat area to land on the ground, simultaneously recalling all their Pets.

Here, the ground had been shattered to pieces from the earlier battle. Moreover, where the Darkness Ancient God had appeared, there was now a massive crater extending a hundred thousand metres into the Earth’s depths.

If anyone who did not know what had happened saw this scene, they would surely assume this was some kind of special zone.

Come to think of it, this place had originally been Feather Country’s Forbidden Area, the Dark Land.

Now that the Darkness Ancient God was gone, the Dark Land no longer existed.

There would likely soon be Players coming to explore and see what exactly had happened here.

These people would mostly return empty-handed though.

Lu Fan waved his hand, opening the Abyssal Space and releasing Andrei from within.

Andrei landed on his backside on the ground with a *thud*.

“Ow… my arse…” Andrei rubbed his posterior, grimacing as he stood up from the ground. Seeing that both Lu Fan and Jin Zhan were fine, his face immediately brightened with joy.

“Brothers, you’re both alright? It looks like you won the battle against the Ancient God?”

Lu Fan smiled and said, “We were lucky this Ancient God hadn’t fully awakened. So, we won. But… the battle was too intense and caused some damage to Feather Country. For that, I’m truly sorry.”

“Impact?” Andrei looked around, taking in the shattered earth and the massive crater leading deep underground not far away. He immediately drew in a sharp breath.

“Heavens, where is this? Don’t tell me this is the original Dark Land!”

It was perfectly natural that Andrei could not believe this was the Dark Land.

After all, originally this place had been pitch black everywhere, but now the darkness had receded, leaving only pallid whiteness. It looked completely different from the Dark Land in every way.

However, the Coordinates on the Map showed that Andrei was indeed within the original Dark Land Map.

It was just that the Map no longer displayed this as the Dark Land, but rather as “Ancient God’s Former Nest.”

Moreover, in the space a hundred thousand metres underground, quite a bit of the Darkness Ancient God Power still remained.

This power would affect some of the Monsters entering this area, making them more savage and vicious.

Perhaps before long, this place might even become a Levelling Area.

But regardless, just the name ‘Ancient God’s Former Nest’ alone was enough to prove that Lu Fan and Jin Zhan had come here not for any other purpose, but truly to eliminate the Ancient God and help Feather Country resolve a massive danger.

“This is indeed the Dark Land, but from now on, it will be renamed Ancient God’s Former Nest,” Lu Fan said. “We’ve already killed the Ancient God here. Your Feather Country won’t need to worry about this Ancient God appearing in the future and causing casualties amongst your citizens.”

“But… although we did our best during the battle to prevent the people of Sandy Breeze City from being affected, the aftermath of the battle was too great. We couldn’t control everything completely. So Sandy Breeze City suffered damage. Quite a few city walls and buildings were destroyed, and there were likely some casualties as well. On this point, we couldn’t completely avoid it. I apologise.”

Andrei was quite reasonable though, waving his large hand dismissively. “This is nothing!”

“Although I didn’t witness your battle with the Ancient God, I can tell from the situation here just how dangerous it was. Under such circumstances, it’s perfectly normal for nearby cities to be affected by the battle’s aftermath. The fact that Sandy Breeze City is mostly preserved and did not suffer major casualties is already quite good. Our Feather Country will handle the aftermath. We’ll repair the city walls, and those who died or were injured will receive compensation and benefits. In any case, to resolve such a troublesome Ancient God at such a small cost is already a boon. This was an extremely profitable deal!”

Seeing Andrei so understanding and making such assurances, Lu Fan and Jin Zhan felt relieved.

This way, they could return to Dragon Country with peace of mind, without needing to concern themselves with Sandy Breeze City’s affairs.

The elimination of Feather Country’s Ancient God could be done quietly. Their somewhat unreasonable behaviour in coming to Feather Country wouldn’t need to be exposed publicly, thus avoiding unnecessary trouble.

With the Ancient God eliminated, Andrei was naturally delighted.

Previously, he had witnessed just how terrifying the Darkness Ancient God was. It had been lurking a hundred thousand metres beneath Feather Country. Who knew what kind of Monster that heart would eventually become!?

Later, on the way back with Lu Fan and Jin Zhan, Lu Fan briefly explained the course of the battle to Andrei.

When he learnt that this Ancient God actually had a Fourth Stage, Andrei was utterly shocked beyond measure.

He had also fought Bosses with different Stages before, but at most they had only Two Stages.

Moreover, each time a Boss changed Form, its strength would surge dramatically. The difference was almost equivalent to gaining 20 Levels out of nowhere!

The Ancient God was already so terrifying, yet Lu Fan and Jin Zhan had separately battled all Four Forms of this existence. One could imagine how dangerous the battle had been!

For such a hard-won victory, Andrei naturally wanted to celebrate.

As for Lu Fan and Jin Zhan needing to leave, he understood perfectly well.

So this celebration would also serve as a farewell for the two of them.

…

The three of them returned to Sandy Breeze City in a low-key manner and briefly assessed the city’s condition.

Sandy Breeze City had indeed suffered some losses from the battle’s aftermath, but entirely within acceptable limits.

Now that the Darkness Ancient God had been eliminated, the Transport Array could be used again.

Thus, Andrei led Lu Fan and Jin Zhan through the Transport Array back to the original city.

However, after travelling all this way, when the three arrived at the hotel where Lu Fan and Jin Zhan had been accommodated, a subordinate from the Kodiak Family had already been waiting there for quite some time.

This subordinate immediately came forward and reported. “Young Master, something’s happened. The Patriarch… was attacked.”

“What!?” Upon hearing this, Andrei was greatly alarmed and had no time to celebrate with Lu Fan and Jin Zhan.

He had someone take Jin Zhan and Lu Fan to rest in the hotel, while he himself rushed back to the Kodiak Family to deal with the matter of his Father being attacked.

It was not until evening that Andrei returned to the hotel.

Lu Fan and Jin Zhan, in their room, enquired about what had happened to the Kodiak Family and why he had left so hastily earlier.

Andrei scratched his hair in frustration and said, “Ugh, it’s just some power struggles within Feather Country. To put it simply, Feather Country is being controlled by two major factions. The other faction doesn’t want to cooperate with Dragon Country to deal with the Ancient God matter, so they’ve decided to use forceful means to suppress those from the other faction. Of course, we from the Kodiak Family are amongst those they want to deal with.”
