Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 910, Becoming Stronger to Break Free from Mechanics

Translator: Silavin

“To engage in battle with that existence in the World of Consciousness…” Jin Zhan thought of the Darkness Ancient God’s previous four Stages, each more terrifying than the last, and could not help but show a hint of worry.

However, thinking again that Lu Fan would come to help him, as long as Lu Fan was there, there seemed to be nothing to fear.

Thus, he nodded and said, “Alright, I trust you.”

“Rest assured, I’m here.” Lu Fan smiled, holding the Ancient God Essence in his hand, about to act.

However, Jin Zhan said in surprise, “Speaking of which, don’t you need me to undergo my Profession Change at the same time to seize the Divine Seat? You mentioned before that you also seized your Ancient God Divine Seat during your Fourth Profession Change, right?”

Lu Fan smiled and said, “Who said seizing a Divine Seat requires you to proceed simultaneously with your Fourth Profession Change ceremony?”

“The reason I seized my Divine Seat during my Fourth Profession Change was because the Ancient God Essence’s power is very strong. To seize the Divine Seat requires a suitable medium. The necessary condition for becoming this medium is being at least in the Fourth Profession Change or above.”

“Brother Jin, you should also know that after your Fourth Profession Change, Players are vastly different from before, right? If we say that before one’s Fourth Profession Change, all of us are data-based Humans who could Level Up by killing Monsters and become stronger through equipment. In that case, after one’s Fourth Profession Change, we’re more like living, breathing people.”

“Simply grinding Monsters and gaining Experience Points can no longer allow us to continue Levelling Up. Rather, we need a deeper understanding of our Profession to Level Up and advance.”

“Some people only know how to kill and Level Up, causing them to get stuck at their Level 90s, unable to raise their Level for their entire lives. Sometimes I wonder whether as our Levels get higher and our strength grows stronger, the World Mechanics and Principles exert less constraint on us, while our influence on the World Mechanics grows greater.”

“I think this hypothesis has some basis to it, after all, when Players reach Level 120 and undergo their Fifth Profession Change, Humans can use Divine Power and seem to have higher Mechanics Level. This is also the reason Players can conversely influence World Mechanics.”

Saying this, Lu Fan suddenly laughed self-deprecatingly: “Heh, I’ve said a bit too much.”

Jin Zhan shook his head and said, “Actually, what you’re saying makes a great deal of sense. My Level is higher than yours. I already had my Fifth Profession Change, and I’m striving towards my Sixth Profession Change. I believe my understanding of Professions is somewhat higher than yours.”

“I’ve considered these things you’re talking about, and my thoughts coincide with yours. In my view, this world’s Professions and Levels truly are a kind of Mechanics-based restraint. If we’re strong enough, we’ll break through this restraint and become ‘purer beings’. At that time, we would have no concept of Levels, only absolute power. Power capable of influencing the entire world.”

Lu Fan said, “Wouldn’t that make us no different from Ancient Gods? Ancient Gods initially have their distinctions. The first Ancient God I killed, because it emerged too early, could be seen as only Level 110. Later, for Ancient Gods like the Fallen Corpse Ancient God, I couldn’t even determine what Level to evaluate it at.”

“Even those at Level 150, which surpasses most Divine Beings, pales in comparison to the power Ancient Gods possess. Their strength has already exceeded this world’s limits. That’s why I think the end of said power is the Ancient Gods; or rather, the level of power the Ancient Gods can possess.”

“Later, when I gradually learnt that all the World Principles were established by the God King, I felt my thinking must absolutely be correct. The God King established the Principles, and all of us live under its Principles. But as our strength grows increasingly stronger, we become more able to break through the Principles it established and obtain power approaching theirs. Perhaps, their power isn’t the end either. Above them, there might be even more powerful forces.”

Saying this, Lu Fan smiled. “Of course, talking about this is getting a bit too far ahead. In any case, based on my understanding of the Ancient Gods, as long as you’ve reached Level 90 and begun to somewhat transcend the World Principles, you can actually master their Ancient God Power and obtain their Divine Seat.”

“Naturally, restricted by your Attributes, the Ancient God Power you can control is limited. You can’t possibly gain power comparable to an Ancient God the moment you obtain their Divine Seat.”

“So after obtaining a Divine Seat, you’ll still need to Level Up, making your body even more powerful, so you can possess more of the Ancient God’s complete power and gain true qualifications to engage with the Ancient Gods.”

Jin Zhan nodded and said, “En, I understand. To fight against the Ancient Gods, I’ll find ways to raise my Level.”

Lu Fan said. “Alright then, let’s begin.”

“Let’s!” Jin Zhan didn’t hesitate and nodded firmly.

Lu Fan directly crushed the Ancient God Essence. The instant it was crushed, a surge of darkness erupted, enveloping both of them completely.

Jin Zhan only felt his consciousness vanish for a period of time, but exactly how long it had disappeared, he himself had absolutely no concept of it.

By the time he recovered consciousness, he found himself floating in a world filled entirely with chaos.

This world resembled the universe at its inception. It was empty of all things.

He could move according to his own thoughts, but his intuition told him that no matter where he drifted, he would not encounter any boundaries.

This place was like a chaotic world, devoid of any concept whatsoever.

However, his own Attributes remained, and he could even summon his Golden Crows.

In other words, this place was more like a battlefield. A battlefield at the establishment of the universe, determining who would ultimately be this universe’s Master.

Since it was a battlefield, there would certainly be an opponent.

Just as Jin Zhan had not completely grasped what was happening, a mass of darkness appeared in the distant chaos.

The darkness dispersed, and the Darkness Ancient God in its First Form appeared.

The Darkness Ancient God had already recovered its consciousness. After arriving here, it surveyed everything and immediately exclaimed in shock. “The Chaotic Battlefield!? You want to seize my Divine Seat!?”

The Darkness Ancient God immediately flew into a rage. “A mere Human dares to dream of slaying a God!? Come then! I’ll let you court death!”

With that, dark essence burst forth from its body, its terrifying pressure making even Jin Zhan’s heart sink.
