Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 909, Too Many Divine Seats, Not Enough People

Translator: Silavin

Seeing the Devouring Dragon King depart, Lu Fan breathed a sigh of relief.

He genuinely feared that the Devouring Dragon King might still be affected by this battle and would insist on grabbing him and Jin Zhan to properly vent.

After the Devouring Dragon King left, only Lu Fan and Jin Zhan remained here.

Lu Fan looked at the Ancient God Essence in his hand. Indeed, it was identical to the one from the Abyssal Ancient God.

However, last time when he had seen an Ancient God Essence, he had no idea how to properly make use of it.

Now, it was different. He had obtained a Divine Seat and simultaneously gained the knowledge about Ancient Gods that came with it.

Now, even without Ouyang Bai Ge’s assistance, he could use this Ancient God Essence to strip away the Darkness Ancient God’s Divine Seat.

With the Darkness Ancient God’s defeat, its consciousness had completely vanished, waiting for the next era to begin before it could awaken.

During this process, Lu Fan could completely obliterate its consciousness at any time and transfer the Divine Seat to someone else.

Jin Zhan also drew closer at this moment. Being extremely intelligent, he immediately guessed what this thing was.

“This is the Ancient God Essence you mentioned to me before?” Jin Zhan was extremely surprised. “I never imagined that such a powerful Ancient God would essentially be such a tiny stone.”

“Still, although this stone is small, I can sense great terrifying power sealed within it. If these shackles were broken, it would be enough to cause the destruction of the entire world… Ancient Gods… what truly terrifying beings…” Jin Zhan could not help but sigh again. “I think naming them Ancient Gods is extremely appropriate. They are the Gods of the old. Any one of them could cause a catastrophic disaster. Humanity, or any other living beings, even those above Level 120 who can be called Divine Beings, are still insignificant before them. Only they can truly be called Gods.”

Lu Fan smiled and said, “Brother Jin, you don’t need to regard them so highly. Fully awakened Ancient Gods are indeed undefeatable. Only they themselves can slay one another. If they truly awakened, Humanity’s chances of victory would be less than one percent.”

“But, there’s still time before they completely awaken and begin the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy. As long as they haven’t fully awakened, we have ways to deal with them. This Ancient God is proof of this!” Saying this, Lu Fan raised the Ancient God Essence in his hand and continued. “This is just the beginning. Next, we’ll try to find other unawakened Ancient Gods, kill them one by one, and seize their Divine Seats.”

“If we can resolve the Ancient God problem before the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy begins, our world can survive for another era. Perhaps, we would never need to initiate the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy once and for all.”

“Even if we can’t resolve everything, when the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy begins, the more Divine Seats we New Gods possess, the greater our chances of victory in the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy. At that time, the Ancient Gods Struggle For Supremacy will be a battle between us New Gods and the Old Gods.”

Jin Zhan nodded.

Originally, seeing the Darkness Ancient God’s strength had filled him with despair.

One must understand, what they had just faced was merely an incompletely awakened Ancient God, and moreover, one that was relatively weak amongst the Ancient Gods.

Yet the result was that only Lu Fan could exchange a few moves with it.

He, supposedly Dragon Country’s strongest, did not even have the qualifications to charge forward.

If not for Lu Fan, he could already imagine what would happen to this world.

Now, Lu Fan’s words undoubtedly brought him hope. Humanity was not completely without any chance!

“Wait.” Jin Zhan suddenly realised something and said to Lu Fan, “You said ‘we New Gods’? You’re giving this Divine Seat to me?”

“That’s only natural. Otherwise, why would the two of us come to Feather Country together?”

Jin Zhan frowned and said, “I’d considered this possibility, but I still think the reason you brought me was to help you with some odd jobs. At the same time, I believe that a rare and precious Divine Seat shouldn’t be inherited by me first, but by my Grandfather. Because whether in terms of strength or experience, he’s above me. If Divine Seats are limited in number, having him possess a Divine Seat would be more useful than me having one.”

Lu Fan laughed heartily and said. “Brother Jin, be confident in yourself. I brought you here specifically to let you inherit the Divine Seat directly. I’ve never met Elder Jin, but I’ve heard of him and naturally know how formidable he is.”

“There are 36 Divine Seats in total. I reckon the Divine Seats I can obtain won’t be limited to just one or two. Honestly, never mind Elder Jin, I even want to seize Divine Seats for several of my friends.”

“What we really should worry about isn’t too many people and not enough Divine Seats. Rather, it should be that we have too many Divine Seats and not enough people! I think that as Dragon Country’s Supreme Commander, one Divine Seat is still necessary for you.”

“Rest assured, as we find more and more Ancient Gods later, there’ll be more and more Divine Seats waiting for us to collect. Elder Jin will definitely have his own. What’s more, since you came with me, you can’t return empty-handed. The optimal candidate for this Darkness Ancient God’s Divine Seat is naturally still you.”

Jin Zhan only thought briefly before nodding and saying, “En, what you say makes sense.”

“That works out as well. After I obtain the Divine Seat, I’ll be able to help you even better.”

“Haha!” Lu Fan laughed loudly. “How straightforward of you! Talking with you, Brother Jin, is easy. I thought I’d have to go back and forth with you for a while over this Divine Seat matter. Now, it seems you’re even easier to talk to than I imagined.”

Jin Zhan smiled and said, “This is also a habit developed over many years in the military. No dithering, no pretence. Just make your decision and stick to it. When necessary, as long as it achieves victory, even if it means sacrificing myself or my closest people, I must make that decision instantly. So as long as I am aware that inheriting the Divine Seat is the best choice, I’ll naturally comply.”

Lu Fan nodded and said, “Then since that’s the case, let’s begin. I’ll strip this Divine Seat away and transfer it to you. During this process, you’ll engage in a great battle with the Darkness Ancient God’s original consciousness. You most likely won’t be its match. But don’t worry. I’ll appear in the World of Consciousness to help you defeat it. You just need to ensure your own consciousness is safe, make sure it can’t kill you.”
