Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 97, Five Person Team, Four Beauties

Translator: Silavin

Lu Fan had thought that although Jian Ying was a woman of few words, she would at most respond to his invitation with a simple ‘okay’ or ‘get lost’. However, Jian Ying’s eyes showed obvious wariness, and she finally squeezed out two words through her teeth, “Pervert.”

“I…” Lu Fan was extremely embarrassed. He knew that he had not left a good impression on Jian Ying during their last meeting. So, Lu Fan hurriedly explained, “I think we had a bit of a misunderstanding the last time… Actually, I’m a very normal person, I swear to Heaven!”

After a pause, Lu Fan solemnly said, “Honestly, we want to run the Poison Spider Forest, which has the Highest Experience Point Reward, but we’re short one person. We need to find a teammate right now. I saw you also looking for a High Experience Dungeon Instance earlier, why don’t you join our team? I don’t know anyone else, and we’ve at least met once before, plus we’re neighbours. Forming a team would be beneficial, don’t you think?”

“Poison Spider Forest?” Jian Ying was clearly tempted when she heard the name of this Dungeon Instance.

She had seen the information about the Poison Spider Forest before and knew it was the Dungeon Instance in Dragon Capital University with the Highest Experience Point Reward. However, the requirement of at least five people had made her directly pass on it.

Thinking that Lu Fan was the top ranked student and would not drag her down, Jian Ying was genuinely hesitant about whether to team up with him to run the Poison Spider Forest.

Seeing Jian Ying was interested in running the Poison Spider Forest, Lu Fan added fuel to the fire. He continued to state, “Just join our team and give it a try. If you feel like it’s not working out, we can go our separate ways after clearing it. We are just going to run through a single Dungeon Instance, we won’t do anything else.”

Jian Ying thought for a moment, then nodded and agreed, “Okay.”

*Huuuu…* Lu Fan relaxed and smiled, “Alright then, come with me. My other two teammates are over there, I’ll introduce you.”

Jian Ying did not say anything and silently followed behind Lu Fan.

At this time, Qin Qiu had just put down her phone and saw Lu Fan returning. She smiled and said, “Lu Fan, I called Sister Han. She said she had just finished class and is on her way here. She should arrive in about ten minutes. How about you? Did you find us a new teammate?”

Lu Fan smiled and said, “Yeah, I found one just a few steps away. It’s someone we know.” Saying this, Lu Fan slightly moved aside, revealing Jian Ying behind him.

Seeing Jian Ying, Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman were simultaneously surprised, then happily exclaimed, “Lu Fan, you brought back the second ranked?”

Fearing that Jian Ying would continue to misunderstand that he was a ‘pervert’, which he was not, Lu Fan hurriedly solemnly stated, “What do you mean ‘brought back’? Watch your words! I’ve just met Jian Ying before, and saw that she was looking for a Dungeon Instance with a High Experience Point Reward like us, so I invited her to join our team!”

Tao Xiaoman warmly smiled and was very friendly with Jian Ying, disregarding the shock and resistance in the eyes of the ‘severely socially anxious’ Jian Ying. She linked arms with her and pulled her over to the girls’ side.

“Anyway, Lu Fan, you’ve done well!”

“I’ve heard that Sister Jian Ying is very strong. In North Cloud Province’s major exam, her score far exceeded the second place student there, and she’s been hailed as North Cloud Province’s top genius.”

“Ah. With Sister Jian Ying here, our Dungeon Instance clearing speed will definitely be very fast.”

Jian Ying was not used to interacting with people, and now, her distance from Tao Xiaoman and Qin Qiu had already breached her psychological defences.

But after hesitating for a moment, she did not show particular resistance – because Tao Xiaoman’s naturally friendly personality towards girls was hard to push away.

Lu Fan had been worried that Jian Ying’s strange personality might not fit into this team. However, it seemed the situation was not as bad as he thought.

Still, when Tao Xiaoman played with girls, her mouth was like a machine gun. She continued rattling off. Jian Ying, who rarely spoke, had to speak more often to respond to Tao Xiaoman.

Lu Fan was really afraid that Tao Xiaoman would annoy Jian Ying with her chatter, causing her to directly turn and leave. Fortunately, Jian Ying did not seem to be at the point of unbearable frustration.

[Perhaps this is what they call ‘the one thing that subdues another’?’

Jian Ying was ranked second for the new students at Dragon Capital University, making her quite famous. Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman were quite familiar with her.

Lu Fan also introduced Qin Qiu and Tao Xiaoman, allowing the three of them to get acquainted.

In no time at all, Han Ke indeed arrived at the Dungeon Hall. She smiled apologetically, saying she was late because she was attending a cooking class, and the teacher thought highly of her. Thus, the teacher provided extra tutoring after class, which delayed her for a bit.

Lu Fan and the others introduced Jian Ying to her. Upon learning that Jian Ying was their neighbour from Villa No. 2, Han Ke gave Lu Fan a meaningful look.

Lu Fan turned his head away, ignoring everything.

Thus, the five man team was now complete.

Lu Fan temporarily took the role of team leader, leading his team members to the service desk to find the Senior from earlier. He asked her to take them to the Poison Spider Forest Dungeon Instance.

It had to be said that in this team, apart from Lu Fan, all were beauties, each with their own characteristic and charm.

This caused quite a few envious glances at Lu Fan as the Senior led them towards the Dungeon Instance Portal.

The Portal for Advance Dungeon Instances was not in the main hall, but in a side hall. After all, Advance Dungeon Instances were not open to the public, and ordinary students did not have the qualifications to come to the side hall.

At the Transport Array, Lu Fan and the others swiped the points from their identity cards. Han Ke, as a student from the Lifestyle Faculty and admitted as an exception, temporarily had no points in her identity card.

Fortunately, for running Dungeon Instances, one could ‘treat’ others, so Han Ke’s points were covered by Lu Fan, who had more than enough points to spare.

While swiping points, Lu Fan also saw Jian Ying’s points.

Her points were also terrifyingly high, a full 8,000 plus.

Calculating from this, Jian Ying’s major exam score should be around 800,000. If not for Lu Fan, she would definitely have been the top ranked student with an absolute advantage.

Jian Ying’s strength was evident.

With all preparations complete, the five people finally passed through the Transport Array and arrived at the entrance of the Poison Spider Forest Dungeon Instance.

This was a dense forest, surrounded by trees several dozen metres tall, and the trees were very strange, with purple trunks and black leaves. On the leaves, there was a faint black mist slowly falling, like pollen.

It was clear that these trees must be some kind of poisonous plant, best not to make careless contact with.

In front of Lu Fan and the others, apart from the Transport Array back to Dragon Capital University, there was also a Dungeon Instance Entrance. It was not much different from a Secret Realm Entrance, which should be the entrance to the Poison Spider Forest Dungeon Instance.

“Is everyone ready? If you’re ready, let’s enter the Dungeon Instance.” Lu Fan turned back to ask, and everyone nodded, taking out their equipment.

Han Ke had no weapons or equipment, but she suddenly seemed to remember something and smiled, saying, “Wait a moment, I have something good to share with everyone.”

Saying this, Han Ke took out a plate of compressed biscuits from her Inventory, which looked appetising.

Han Ke distributed the compressed biscuits to everyone, with each person getting two pieces.

Lu Fan picked one up, looked at it, and was immediately shocked.

Marching Biscuit (Enchanted Food): After consumption, increases Experience gain by 20% Duration: 3 hours
This was an amazing item!

Everyone now wanted to Level Up quickly and aim for their Second Profession Change. With these biscuits, they could save a lot of time and effort.

Seeing everyone so delighted with the March Biscuits, Han Ke was quite proud, saying, “This is from a Crafting Recipe my teacher gave me. Under his guidance, I made these biscuits. Basically, each biscuit can increase Experience gain by 20%. I thought it would be very useful for you.”

“Useful? It’s more than useful, it’s incredibly helpful!” Lu Fan laughed and immediately ate one.

These biscuits were not only delicious but also very filling, perfect for bringing into the Wilderness.

Everyone ate their biscuits, gaining the Buff to increase Experience gain.

After eating her biscuit, Jian Ying’s eyes narrowed slightly, seemingly remembering the Pumpkin Steamed Cake she ate last time. She unusually took the initiative to approach Han Ke and asked, “Was the cake from last time made by you?”

Han Ke smiled and said, “You mean the Pumpkin Steamed Cake? Of course! If you liked it, I can make some more for you.”

Jian Ying was silent for three seconds, then a faint smile appeared on her usually cold, beautiful face. “Thank you.”

“Hehe, there’s nothing to thank me for. I’m a Cook. Cooking is my speciality. You’re our neighbour next door, you’re welcome to come over for meals anytime!” Han Ke was no less enthusiastic than Tao Xiaoman, quickly becoming familiar with Jian Ying.

Seeing that Jian Ying seemed to be fitting in quite well in the team, Lu Fan smiled and called out, “Let’s enter the Dungeon Instance first. When the time is right, we’ll go back for a meal.”

“Okay.” Everyone except Jian Ying was very enthusiastic.

They all walked into the Dungeon Instance Entrance and were transported to a new space.

The environment here was similar to the outside of the Dungeon Instance, with those strange poisonous trees everywhere, and a faint miasma permeating the air.

Around them, they could see some poisonous creatures, like snakes and centipedes, hiding under fallen leaves, making rustling sounds.

At the same time, everyone’s Mission Panel was updated.

Dungeon Instance – Poison Spider Forest (Terror)
Minimum Participants: 5

Recommended Level: 45

Clear Condition: Defeat Screeching Spider Mother 0/1

Description: The Poison Spider Forest is located in a vast valley, perpetually shrouded in poisonous mist. Poisonous creatures run rampant here, making it a place hardly accessible to Humans. Once, a doctor well versed in poison hired a team of mercenaries to protect him as he ventured deep into the forest to collect poisonous herbs. However, apart from encountering various poisonous creatures, strange things began to happen. Every so often, one of the mercenaries would disappear.

The doctor did not know what was happening, but the abundant harvest of poisonous herbs made him unwilling to leave. He continued to press deeper into the forest.

On the third day, a spider thread wrapped around the doctor’s neck. After several minutes of being dragged, the doctor was finally brought to the deepest part of the Poison Spider Forest. There, he saw a scene he would never forget in his life…

Note: This area is permeated with Poisonous Miasma. The deeper you go, the faster the poison accumulates. Please pay attention to your physical condition and prepare Antidote Potions.
