Chapter 495: Chapter 212, Life is Currency, Use It Wisely

The yellow-green poisonous fog is something even a Holy Grail Knight cannot withstand for long, yet Laine appears unfazed. The Divine Chosen Champion immerses himself in the fog filled with corruption and poison, clutching the Goddess of Revenge with both hands as he charges directly at the Wound Master.

After a fierce battle, he finally carved a bloody path out of the Chaos Chosen Warriors surrounding him to reach this place.

”Ah, the sweet fragrance!” The Great Nurgle Demon takes a deep breath of the yellow-green poison mist; to it, the sweet and sticky fragrance in the air lifts its spirits, alleviating some of the pain on its body.

It simply cannot believe that Laine isn’t affected by the poisonous fog. Besides the Father’s children, no living creature can withstand the corrosive fog for long.

He’s merely holding on out of sheer willpower.

The Wound Master raises the Great Sword in its hand, its movement slightly sluggish—the burning pain from the wound inflicted by the White Wolf Prince-Elector Saint Sword on its wrist makes the injury hard to heal.

The enormous Great Sword sweeps across, and Laine immediately ducks, plunging himself and his Spiritual Masterwork Power Armor into the mire of a corroded wasteland, the filthy, stinking water flooding his mouth and nose, making him want to retch.

”Ha, weak, mortals, the world will ultimately, perish, your resistance, is futile.” The Wound Master laughs hysterically with its swollen face. It pulls out a chain and swings it in the air, the skull at the end smashing heavily onto Laine’s back, causing the Divine Chosen Champion to cough up a mouthful of blood as he crumples to the ground.

The Wound Master spins the chain in the air and strikes down towards Laine on the ground again.

”Smack!” This time, the skull hits nothing but dirty water, splashing it around.

Laine flips over and stands up, clutching the Goddess of Revenge tightly. The flames on the sword burn ever stronger, the blade moving with its master through the poisonous fog, slicing towards the hand holding the chain.

”Ugh, ahh! Ahhhhh!” The Wound Master hastily releases its grip, as the Goddess of Revenge has already severed two of its fingers, twisting the face of the Great Nurgle Demon into an agonized expression: ”Mortal!”

”For the Lady!” Laine presses the advantage, thrusting the Goddess of Revenge deep into the Wound Master’s chest.

”Ahhh!” The Great Nurgle Demon retreats continuously, its Great Sword dropping to the ground. The Great Demon uses its intact right hand to grab the Laine hanging on its chest and forcefully slams him to the ground.

Laine grips his sword, rolling several times on the ground, feeling his internal organs bleeding.

Fury and calmness simultaneously occupy Laine’s mind. On one hand, it’s the madness brought by the battle; it’s hard for a human to not lose some reason in the face of such a dreadful being. Laine knows that to win, he must defeat the Great Demon before him; it’s a duel of madness.

At the same time, he remains calm, holding his sword before his chest. Laine deeply understands that in a head-on struggle, he cannot defeat the Chaos Great Demon.

However, he possesses a unique advantage—he is a Grey Knight, utterly unafraid of the lethal poisonous mist, nor fearful of fighting in such a corrupted environment. The Great Nurgle Demon is already scarred after the siege by the Holy Grail Knights and Prince-Elector Boris.

He still has a chance to seize victory.

Iron boots trudging in the mud pit, the muck in his boots causing Laine’s footing to slip. Beyond the poisonous fog, the Holy Grail Knights fight valiantly; Boris roars as he tears apart a Chaos Demon, shouting to Laine, ”Laine, we can’t approach the poisonous fog!”

”No worries! Cover me!” Laine turns his head; the Wound Master has already regained its composure, roaring as it charges at Laine on its sturdy legs, ”Another one, seeking death, human.”

Laine swings the Holy Sword, the Goddess of Revenge blazing with white flame colliding with the Great Sword of the Great Nurgle Demon. With a furious shout, Laine astonishingly repels the Wound Master’s Great Sword with the Goddess of Revenge.

”Dark Power shall fall, and we shall advance towards light in our mission.” Laine recites in the High Gothic Language, stepping forward, drawing a long wound on the Wound Master, with the white purifying flame burning on the Chaos Great Demon’s wound.

”Evil Ulcer Missile!” Despite its immense pain, the Wound Master is even more enraged, opening its massive fist to shoot a three-meter-wide green energy ball, catching Laine off guard, engulfing his figure in the explosion’s light and dense smoke.

”No!” Some Holy Grail Knights witnessing this couldn’t help but shout.

”The Lady’s Champion doesn’t fall that easily, brothers, press on! Protect Laine!” Duke Lorne of Connet shouts instead, as he shatters the sturdy armor of a Chaos Chosen Warrior with Gelonni’s Sword in his hand.

The Wound Master approaches the smoking crater: ”Dead?”

”We shall tolerate no unclean existence; in light and flame, we shall unite as one!”

”Spiritual~Storm!”

Lightning as thick as branches shoots from the crater, striking the Great Nurgle Demon. This lightning penetrates the decayed skin of the Great Nurgle Demon, evaporating the pus oozing from its body, scorching its rotten and murky innards, bursting open its festering wounds, its slick intestines charred black by the electricity.
