Warhammer Divine Throne

Inside the asylum, the followers of Shalya are reveling.

Outside the asylum, the Wind of Chaos begins to sweep across this once prosperous land.

As the Wind of Chaos grows more violent, Nurgle’s Domain starts to emerge, and hordes of Nurgle Demons, under the terrifying will of the Evil God, are descending into the Prime Material World.

First come the swarms of Nurgle Spirits, these small creatures with bloated bodies and large mouths emit a charming green light, akin to elves in the night. Yet they are anything but adorable, for their arrival heralds the spread of toxins and disease.

Then comes the hordes of Chaos Warriors, hundreds upon hundreds entering the battlefield at the Evil God’s call. These Nurgle Chaos Warriors wield weapons that are rusted and riddled with holes, and their green armor is full of corroded gaps. More horrifying is that their bodies, like their weapons and armor, are diseased, with bloated limbs covered in lumps and boils, and their round bellies torn open, exposing thick grease and intestines outside their bodies.

Following the Chaos Warriors appear groups of Chaos Demons, most possessing corpulent bodies and decayed flesh. The Chaos Army is gradually entering the battlefield, and some units are already approaching the asylum.

”Oh my god, what is that?” The appearance of a large mass of Chaos Demons and Chaos Warriors has caught the attention of the fleeing serfs, who stare blankly at this dreadful army.

”Help... help!”

”Oh god, the end is upon us!”

”My Lady, save me!”

The serfs disperse in flight, fleeing in endless panic, those who flee too slowly are cut down on the spot. Wherever the decayed legion passes, all fields turn to swamps, all grains become muck, all creatures are shrouded in disease, and black flies circle this green-armored army, marching through the dark plains.

The numbers of this Chaos Army continue to grow, and once the number surpasses three hundred, the first of Nurgle’s Chosen Warriors appears.

(Emphasizing that it’s not the Divine Chosen Champion)

This is a gigantic humanoid entity standing over 2.4 meters tall, with an incredibly bloated form and a foul stench. A round helmet fully encases its enormous head from front to back, with only a few small holes in the front seemingly for viewing the outside world. The creature resembles a sphere bristling with spikes, adorned with various hooks and iron rods. Its skin, hidden beneath the armor, melts at the slightest touch. Under Nurgle’s painful love and blessings, they must wrap themselves with ropes and thick plate armor to prevent their innards from spilling out.

They have long lost the sensation of pain, and refer to the Evil God endearingly as a kindly fat grandpa, who generously embraces all, leading them like a compassionate father guiding his beloved children.

Thus, as the beloved children, the Chosen Warriors are more than willing to fight relentlessly for their benevolent father.

Behind this Chosen Warrior, more Chosen Warriors appear, with turbid slime oozing from their armor.

Inside the asylum, the Merciful Goddess Church’s Archbishop turns pale upon hearing the serfs’ report of their escape, the middle-aged woman murmuring to herself: ”I should have realized, I should have realized long ago.”

”Why, when the asylum developed a special medication for malaria, would it immediately catch fire and burn to the ground? I should have realized it long ago.” The Merciful Goddess Archbishop’s body wavers, as she realizes she should have understood all this earlier.

The fire was no accident; instead, the Evil God simply refuses to allow the appearance of special medication!

She should have realized, but the entire Merciful Goddess Church was lost in the joy of epoch-making discoveries and the treatment of chronic diseases. She and the church’s priests simply did not think about this matter carefully!

The guard beside her rushes forward to support her: ”Archbishop, what should we do now??”

”...Evacuate, transfer the wounded and the asylum patients, Jon, send someone to the Kulona Palace to report! Request His Majesty Richard to deploy troops for assistance, Remon, take this, head to the Holy Grail Cathedral, and request Her Highness Mogiana to lead the Holy Grail Knights for aid!” the Archbishop immediately orders, producing two silver emblems one after another, each featuring a white dove in the center.

These are the Holy Emblems of the Merciful Goddess Shalya.

”Yes!” A Temple Guard immediately rides off on horseback.

”Also, quickly bring the scroll of parchment... what?” the Archbishop exclaims, picking up the rotting parchment scroll.

The text and images on the paper have vanished.

”Archbishop, it’s fine, we’ve memorized the formula, let’s hurry, Archbishop! Or we’ll be surrounded!” a Temple Guard urgently says.

”...Go, retreat, retreat, protect the patients, retreat!” the Archbishop decides on the retreat, gazing sorrowfully at the asylum outside the city. Great effort was spent by the Merciful Goddess Church to establish this place.

The Merciful Goddess Church has never been particularly wealthy, as they always expend significant effort to aid the poor and the sick. However, the massive numbers and needs of the poor make this task increasingly difficult, with the best physicians often controlled by powerful churches like the Justice Church or the Saintess Order or serving in the court. The Merciful Goddess Church often can only treat minor symptoms, with the church’s physicians always operating under excessively demanding and resource-scarce conditions.

Nonetheless, the church often receives generous support and backing from Great Nobles, as they don’t wish for epidemics to run rampant among their subjects. Noblewomen enjoy expressing their benevolence through this means, in return, they can socialize in the Merciful Goddess Church in their finest attire, and on their birthdays, a Priest of Shalya may appear to bless them.
