Warhammer Divine Throne

”Ugh!” About twenty minutes later, the Kingdom Knight named Tolan had reached the end of his strength, struggling under the fierce blows of Becker’s warhammer.

The White Wolf Knights, who follow the faith of Yurik, often share a characteristic: the longer they fight, the stronger they become. Initially, Tolan was able to match Becker evenly, but as time went by, the Kingdom Knight, clad in plate armor and using a sword and shield, began to fall behind.

The sturdy warhammer struck the shield with force, distorting the Kakasong Duchy’s emblem of red and blue, depicting a longsword, into a deformed shape. Becker, covered in sweat, shouted, ”Great, great, come on, Brittania guy, aren’t you supposed to be strong?”

”Knight from beyond the mountains! Do not underestimate our strength! For the Lady!” The Kingdom Knight exerted himself suddenly, thrusting his shield forward to push Becker back.

”Huff~ huff~” Tolan panted heavily, standing aside, greedily inhaling the fresh air of early spring. Such intense combat made him extremely tired, and he took this opportunity to recover his strength.

White Wolf Knight Becker was also drenched in sweat, his beard and sideburns wet from perspiration. The high-intensity combat rapidly drained his energy, too. ”Brittania knight, you’re impressive, having held on this long, but I will defeat you in Yurik’s name!”

”I am the one fighting for the Lady and the King, for Brittania!” Tolan shouted angrily, raising his shield to charge forward again.

On the high platform, Laine sat beside Mogiana. For some reason, this Lake God Witch seemed to cling to him. He had no chance to speak a word with Francois as Mogiana pulled him to sit with her directly.

Mogiana has the same iris fragrance as the Lake Fairy, which invigorates the spirit. Sitting next to Mogiana, Laine furrowed his brow: ”This Kingdom Knight named Tolan is still no match for Becker; he is likely to lose.”

A trace of displeasure flashed in the Lake God Witch’s emerald eyes, directed not at Laine but at Tolan. She stated bluntly, ”Tolan is already an elite high-tier Kingdom Knight, proficient in mounted combat and using a cavalry lance, but his swordsmanship is mediocre and clearly no match for this White Wolf Knight. Yurik’s knights are indeed formidable.”

”The White Wolf Knight Order, along with the Griffin Knight Order and the Holy Grail Knight Order, are called the Three Great Knight Orders of the Old World. In the Northern Empire, having a child who becomes a White Wolf Knight is regarded as the highest honor,” Laine said blandly and spoke no more.

Mogiana nodded, her chilly voice finally showing some seriousness. ”This time, it will broaden the horizons of our Kingdom knights. The strength of the Imperial Knights beyond the mountains is no longer inferior to ours.”

As the two talked, the outcome was decided. Tolan’s shield was knocked away, and the exhausted knight had lost the strength to fight on; he had to signal his surrender.

”Hahahahaha!” The young White Wolf Knight was also very tired, breathing heavily, but still laughed heartily before speaking in broken sentences, ”Praise...White Wolf...Yurik.”

Tolan’s face alternated between red and pale. He truly did not want to admit defeat, but knowing the Lady taught knights to be honest, he understood if he continued to bluff, he would likely be humiliated again. So, he silently retreated.

Richard’s expression turned even uglier, or rather, all of Brittania’s Great Nobles bore displeased looks. They cast blameful eyes at the retreating Kingdom Knight, aware that things had become very troubling.

Among the gathered Great Nobles, there were still many Legendary Tier powerhouses, with about thirty percent of the Kingdom’s Great Nobility present. However, the issue lied with Imperial Envoy Boris’s demand for a young person’s duel.

Judging from the appearance, the White Wolf Knight before them appeared no older than twenty-five or six, definitely not yet thirty. Since Boris had demanded a duel among young people, naturally, older knights were at a disadvantage.

Francois’s face also looked very unpleasant. His son, Julius, had not come today.

Though the King ordered all counts and nobles of count rank or higher to participate, Francois directly ignored the King’s command. Julius was busy instructing his sister, Surya, on the tournament rules and various small techniques crucial for her tournament journey. The Duke arranged for his children to stay at home, while he alone attended.

”Damn, the Imperials came prepared,” Francois murmured to Lorne beside him, his Grand Duke’s face full of caution and contemplation. ”This Prince-Elector’s initial demand for dismounted combat was to weaken our strength, followed by choosing contestants among young people as another stratagem. He clearly came prepared, but we cannot refuse. Fighting on foot is indeed a skill knights must master, and young knights are the future of the Kingdom.”

”People from beyond the mountains are always so aggressive,” Lorne remarked seriously. ”Then, we can only let Laine...”

”No!” Francois adamantly rejected the suggestion: ”To send Laine up now? Don’t forget, the opponent is just an ordinary White Wolf Knight. Are we Brittania going to pit the Lady’s Divine Chosen Champion against him? Perhaps this is Boris Prince-Elector’s plan; even if Laine can defeat this Becker, the White Wolf Knight, how does that matter? We’ve already lost!”
