Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1228: Chapter 1226: An Unexpected Discovery

”I really didn’t expect the malevolent energy accumulated over the years to be so overwhelming.”

As the alarm gradually subsided, Gu Xi spoke somewhat apologetically to the black-robed man.

He truly hadn’t anticipated causing such an incident.

The Bone-Devouring Swamp and Bone-devouring Mud placed in the sewer, after clearing out the blood pool beneath, ended up also clearing away the accumulated mud from over the years.

With a slight mishap, it unearthed some things from centuries ago.

It was a heart from hundreds of years ago, source unknown.

Soaked in blood for so many years, it had turned entirely black and was almost crystallized.

When it was dug out from the mud, the total amount of malevolent energy exceeded the level the black market could control, triggering the black market’s malevolent energy alarm.

This immediately caused a stir in the entire black market.

After all, such an alarm only goes off in the presence of very potent malevolent energy in the black market.

This really scared Gu Xi, and it wasn’t until the black market’s security came over and figured out the situation that they turned off the alarm and withdrew.

As for the heart filled with tremendous malevolent energy, Gu Xi naturally took it.

Although it’s still unclear where that heart came from, the potent malevolent energy on it was enough for Gu Xi to take it.

Meanwhile, the black-robed man now understood Gu Xi’s capability.

Although his level might not compare to necromancers in Qianfang City, Gu Xi was thorough in his work.

Even remnants from centuries ago were cleared away.

He was much more useful than those ordinary necromancers.

If this got out, many places in Qianfang City would probably line up to invite Gu Xi for help.

This wealth was sure for him to earn.

Thinking of this, the black-robed man felt a stir in his heart and said to Gu Xi, ”Guest, I have some matters to attend to; once you’re done here, just follow the path you came by back. I think the master has already dealt with the Thunderbird.

By then, you can take the Thunderbird away directly.”

Gu Xi glanced at the black-robed man without much thought.

After all, it was clear he was someone from the black market; he had no reason to stick by Gu Xi’s side all the time.

The reason he stayed was purely because Gu Xi had the ability to clear some on-site debris.

Now that the Bone Mountain in the backyard was cleared, and the blood pool was soon to be clean, it didn’t matter if the black-robed man wasn’t around.

So Gu Xi just nodded and responded.

”Rest assured, I know the way.”

The black-robed man gave Gu Xi a glance and quickly left, pulling out his contacts as he walked to summon people.

”Brother Li, I heard your backyard is haunted, right? Let me tell you, today a necromancer came here, first-class ability. If you need, I can introduce you.”

”Teacher Liu, the academy’s battleground hasn’t been cleaned for almost three years, right?

Yes, yes, with fewer necromancers, many things can’t be cleared.

I have a new necromancer here, first-class ability, and most importantly, very meticulous in work. I’ll introduce you soon.”

”Director Li, I remember what you said last time.

The necromancer in the city is simply useless.

Now a new necromancer has arrived at the black market, high level besides, and very thorough in work; most importantly, he is just passing through and will leave in a few days.

Sure, I’ll inquire for you.”

”Mr. Liu, yes, yes, it’s me.

Let me tell you...”

”Miss Li...”

”...”

Gu Xi didn’t realize; he had just turned around and his whereabouts were already being spread around.

At the moment, he was still focusing on dealing with the final parts of the blood pool.

Having discovered a heart earlier, Gu Xi thought there might be other valuable things under the blood pool.

So his attention remained there.

However, even after the blood pool was thoroughly cleaned, nothing else of value was found.

Instead, the Bone-Devouring Swamp gained significant benefits, directly upgrading to Level 15.

It’s known that the Bone-Devouring Swamp itself was a semi-solidified team, equivalent to the main force of the Bone-devouring Mud.

Usually, even during deployments, Gu Xi would only send out the Bone-devouring Mud, seldom using the Bone-Devouring Swamp.

Thus, while sizeable, the Bone-Devouring Swamp’s level was always at Level 13.

Gu Xi never expected that just letting it clear the blood pool this time would upgrade it by two levels.

If more opportunities like this arose, Gu Xi would definitely let the Bone-Devouring Swamp out again to boost its strength.

But unfortunately, this might be the only time, as Gu Xi wouldn’t stay long in Qianfang City and had limited chances to find such places to elevate his combat power.

Now that the Bone-Devouring Swamp has finished clearing the blood pool, it’s time to check on the Thunderbird’s situation.

If Gu Xi was right earlier, there should still be unhatched eggs inside the Thunderbird’s belly.

Those should still hold some vitality.

However, unhatched eggs are essentially lifeless objects, regardless of vitality.

Gu Xi could extract the eggs from the Thunderbird’s belly and transform them through some means into his flying mount.

This was indeed a huge gain from this trip to the black market.

This Qianfang City was truly a place of fortune for Gu Xi, and he would make sure to visit Qianfang City again in the future.

After storing away the Bone-Devouring Swamp, Gu Xi closed the Garrison Gate.

He looked up to see that the black-robed man hadn’t returned yet.

Not wanting to wait, Gu Xi began retracing his steps back.

There were no secretive rooms along the way, and Gu Xi soon returned to the Thunderbird processing slaughterhouse.

Upon entering, Gu Xi noticed an additional man was in the slaughterhouse.

He appeared to be in his early twenties, holding a pure gold large bow as tall as a person.

Upon Gu Xi’s entry, the man immediately turned to look at him.

Gu Xi observed that as the man stared, his eyes could automatically adjust focus.

Clearly, this was a high-level hunter.

He visibly relaxed upon seeing Gu Xi and nodded in acknowledgment; it was evident he had been informed by the butcher of Gu Xi’s purpose.

”Hello, please wait here a moment. Once all the Thunderbird feathers are plucked, I’ll be on my way.

Until then, please stay at least five meters away from me, alright?”

Although unsure of the man’s peculiarity, Gu Xi stepped back two steps.

At that moment, Gu Xi noticed the man’s pupils visibly contract.

Clearly, he was adjusting his focus again.
