”What do you know?”

Seeing Gu Xi with an enlightened expression, Kro curiously asked.

For the first time, he felt that following Gu Xi without passive telepathy was indeed inconvenient.

”About the Golden Pillar.”

Gu Xi couldn’t just say that he suspected the last person who represented the humans and occupied the Golden Pillar was likely a big shot from the Ancestor City who initiated Creation.

At this time, the Undead under Gu Xi’s command also brought a large barrel of water.

Gu Xi didn’t say much but simply turned to ask, ”Klu Brothers, how should we handle this water?”

”Pour it into the cup, you just need to stand by the cup and watch.”

Kro explained the use of the cup.

Gu Xi curiously had the Undead pour the water into the cup.

At this moment, Gu Xi was also curious about what kind of images were recorded inside the cup, and why it linked Kro with the recent Giant Dragon incidents, thinking about the reason for the constant attacks during this period.

As soon as he leaned over to look inside the cup, he couldn’t help but mutter.

Holy shit!

Gu Xi’s eyes widened as he watched the images inside.

Is this something he could see now?

This was clearly the scene of this world at the beginning of creation.

The Golden Pillar that Gu Xi saw when he arrived was indeed poured out bit by bit using pure gold.

And the scene before him was the time of the Ancient Hundred Races, where the people brought the discovered gold to the Golden Pillar and used some means to pour it into the pillar.

Gu Xi noticed a detail in this image.

The Hundred Races’ people could quickly move near the Golden Pillar as soon as they found the gold.

At this moment, Gu Xi also understood Kro’s idea.

”Do you think the enemies who attacked us before were hiding within the ten thousand miles range of the Golden Pillar?

Did they use some means from the Golden Pillar to deploy freely all over the world?

But there’s something unreasonable here.

You see, the number of attackers varied greatly before.

Thousands, nearing tens of thousands, when many, and only a dozen when few.

This plainly doesn’t make sense.”

Actually, Gu Xi and Kro guessed most of it right; those enemies were precisely deployed to Kro’s side using the residual power of the Golden Pillar.

Only that these enemies didn’t actually live within ten thousand miles of the Golden Pillar.

Most were descendants of the Ancient Hundred Races, living near the control nodes of the Golden Pillar.

Due to the Ancient Hundred Races’ involvement in constructing the Golden Pillar, even if they weren’t there, they could still communicate and teleport using the Golden Pillar’s capabilities.

Their mercenary system and rankings were even established through the Golden Pillar, and they strengthened their races by completing tasks for more rewards.

The reason they attacked Kro was because when Kro met Gu Xi, he inadvertently unearthed an item affecting the Golden Pillar, and the pillar issued a task demanding Kro’s elimination.

Then, as the mercenaries sent to kill Kro fell one by one to Gu Xi’s hand.

The task from the Golden Pillar didn’t end; instead, the difficulty kept increasing from losing many mercenaries.

Each mercenary organization wiped out led to a new one quickly taking over.

These organizations took either the grand legion route or the elite assassination route.

This led to varying quantities and strengths of people hunting Kro.

Moreover, they didn’t come all at once but batch by batch.

Some didn’t even know the source of the initial task; they just knew they had to kill Kro.

Actually, Kro being targeted this time was definitely an undeserved calamity.

He unearthed something related to the Ancient Hundred Races just as Gu Xi descended.

The foundation of Creation and that object activated each other, catching the Golden Pillar’s attention.

Though sitting on the Golden Pillar was the last creation’s big shot.

But he merely seized the Golden Pillar, not personally constructing it.

So the pillar retains a trace of instinct to actively purge those who might destroy or trouble it.

That object is now in Gu Xi’s Yalidu City.

If the Golden Pillar were to observe, it’d discover Kro’s archaeological direction avoids the Ancient Hundred Races.

The object isn’t on Kro anymore, possibly canceling the task.

But the Golden Pillar didn’t recheck, and Gu Xi protected Kro while repeatedly killing the mercenary organizations charging in.

Leading to the current situation.

Of course, none of these are reasons Gu Xi and Kro could know.

All they know is where the enemies come from and why they precisely appear within one or two kilometers of Kro.

”Enough thinking, what are you planning to do next?

Seems like someone has marked you; I can’t protect you forever.

Maybe pack up your stuff, I’ll send you to a larger city nearby?”

”No need...” Kro initially wanted to say he was strong enough, but he swallowed the words.

This period’s situation stayed in Kro’s heart.

Being attacked sporadically, clearly not normal.

With Gu Xi’s protection, it’s hard to see much.

But what if Gu Xi stopped protecting him?

What would he do?

Directly find a large city to hide?

That guarantees safety, but what about his archaeological career?

Thinking of this, Kro raised his head, ”Brother Gu, how many days can you protect me?”

”Three days.”

Upon hearing this, Kro felt like a countdown to death was starting.

He swallowed hard, hesitated, then gritted his teeth.

”Brother Gu, in these three days, I don’t plan to continue archaeology, can you take me somewhere?”

Gu Xi didn’t answer but glanced at his main quest.

The main quest was still to protect Kro’s excavation and hadn’t changed due to Kro’s words.

Looks like where they’re heading is also archaeology-related.

”Sure, but you might have to wait; I have a small task to finish. You can take this chance to pack up, and once I handle this, we can go.”

Though Kro didn’t know what Gu Xi’s task was, since Gu Xi agreed, Kro naturally wouldn’t ask further.

He jumped down from the city wall again, preparing to pack up from his previous excavation site.

Meanwhile, some Undead under Gu Xi aided by sending the large, water-filled cup down the city wall, to Kro.
