Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 1220: Chapter 1218: Golden Treasure

”Is this the treasure you were talking about?”

After traveling for a day and night, Gu Xi finally brought Kro to the treasure of the Golden Tree Elf.

Seeing the situation here, Gu Xi was speechless.

This is called treasure?

Even calling it a treasury seemed inadequate to Gu Xi.

Gazing at the ocean-like quantity of gold, Gu Xi was at a loss for words.

To put it into perspective, the amount of gold here was equivalent to the amount in Lonely Mountain, giving you an idea of how Gu Xi felt at the moment.

”Yes.”

Kro, having seen it once before, wasn’t particularly surprised.

He jumped from the entrance and slid down a mound made of gold.

Gu Xi hesitated for a moment, then followed him down.

However, unlike Kro, Gu Xi was now in flying mode.

As he flew down, he observed the golden artifacts, pondering whether to discuss with Kro about transporting some gold back to Yalidov City.

The gold here didn’t seem fake, and it seemed a waste to let it all sit here.

If he could transport all this gold back to Yalidov City, even if more than half were fake, Gu Xi would still make a fortune.

Unfortunately, Kro needed the gold to save himself, and Gu Xi didn’t want to compete with him for it.

However, Gu Xi quickly found something was amiss.

Kro seemed uninterested in the gold, continuously running in one direction.

Seeing Kro run like that made Gu Xi somewhat curious.

Could there be something hidden in the treasure?

A giant dragon? Or perhaps a duck?

While Gu Xi was pondering, Kro suddenly disappeared in front of him.

This startled Gu Xi.

With only one and a half days left, Kro couldn’t just disappear.

In his urgency, Gu Xi flew to the spot where Kro vanished and found a statue of the Golden Tree. Underneath, there seemed to be a small hole.

Previously, this hole was blocked by a large amount of gold.

As Gu Xi approached, nearby gold started to slide over, almost blocking the freshly dug path.

Taking a look at the small hole in front of him, Gu Xi sighed helplessly.

Then he squeezed his body into the narrow hole and slid down.

At first, Gu Xi thought it would be like a slide, sliding a considerable distance.

Unexpectedly, he felt a sense of falling and soon landed on the ground.

Looking up, he saw that the missing Kro was standing in front of a peculiar instrument.

Around the instrument were scattered numerous golden vessels.

”Kro, what is this place?”

”Oh, this is my final discovery, the place where the fake gold above is produced.”

Seeing Gu Xi, Kro wasn’t surprised.

Knowing Gu Xi would look for him if he disappeared in the treasury, Kro briefly explained the situation and returned his focus to the instrument.

”All the fake gold above is produced by this thing?”

Gu Xi looked doubtful.

”Yes, and it doesn’t require any materials; it can produce directly. But although it looks like gold, it’s not gold, and the nearby nations refuse to accept it.”

”So why did you come here?”

Gu Xi asked curiously, ”To sell the fake gold to more distant countries? Or to sell the instrument itself?”

”No, fake gold can only deceive once; repeated deceit is useless.

Plus, deceiving the Human Realm would truly make enemies of them.

The instrument for making fake gold can’t be taken out either.

It extracts National Fortune to produce fake gold.”

Gu Xi’s gaze sharpened upon hearing this, and the power of the Yellow Springs Dragon Robe activated, swiftly scanning the surroundings.

It was as Kro said, the instrument was extracting Earth Vein Power underground and converting it.

He also noticed that the fake gold, aside from having a golden color, was tainted with a layer of Evil Qi.

Gu Xi’s heart stirred, and he picked up a piece of fake gold to examine it.

Then Gu Xi asked, ”Kro, you’ve thoroughly checked these fake gold and they appear real, right?”

Kro, who was searching under the instrument, confidently affirmed Gu Xi’s question.

”Yes, when I first found this fake gold, I checked it for ages, and it seemed real. Initially, it sold well in a few nearby countries.

But in the end, they claimed it was fake.

For years after that, I stayed away from gold.

Afraid I couldn’t distinguish real from fake.”

”These might actually be real.”

Gu Xi sighed.

”What did you say?”

Kro poked his head out from under the instrument.

”These gold might be real, but they are tainted with the Evil Qi from draining the Dragon Vein, which can corrode other people’s fortune. People like you might not feel it, but those Kings will sense it immediately.

Because it’s detrimental to their National Fortune.

They can’t admit the gold is real and have to label it fake.

Actually, it’s merely cursed.”

Gu Xi threw the gold in his hand to the ground, explaining the reality.

Kro was taken aback by the revelation.

”So that’s the reason. Now I finally understand, but it’s too late. I didn’t come here for this.”

After speaking, Kro ignored it and focused on the instrument.

”What are you doing then?”

”Looking for something, it will take me a bit longer.”

This time, Kro didn’t even lift his head.

Seeing the situation was relatively safe, Gu Xi thought for a moment and spoke to Kro.

”You search here; I’ll go up and take a look. It’s a waste to let these gold lie around, so I’m planning to deal with them a bit.”

Kro wanted to advise Gu Xi against it.

But considering Gu Xi’s subordinates were all Undead, with curse power heavier than the Evil Qi on the gold, maybe Gu Xi could indeed solve the issue.

So Kro didn’t interfere, focusing on his search instead.

Seeing Kro busy, Gu Xi didn’t disturb him further and quickly climbed back the way he came, looking at the cavern filled with gold. He took a deep breath.

”Yellow Springs Dragon Robe, come out, prepare the Dragon Burial Vein!

White Bone Obelisk, come out, prepare to suppress the curse and Evil Qi, purify all the gold here.

Open the City Gate, Ghost Squad ready to transport the gold...”
