Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

”No problem, brother, I’ll guide you,” Big Muscle Dominator put his arm around Red Flower Demon’s shoulder and suddenly asked curiously, ”As a genuine bionic man like you, if you do any intense exercise, will any parts fly off?”

Red Flower Demon looked down and showed a thoughtful expression.

Meanwhile, the remaining four people left the capsule hotel, and under Baozi’s guidance, entered an old building.

In the elevator, Hei Bing No. 2 suddenly asked, ”What’s your street reputation? Those gang hitmen on the street have a special attitude towards you.”

”I just keep watch over the shop every day, there’s no such thing as street reputation for me,” seeing that the other was skeptical, Baozi shook his head and smiled, ”Don’t treat this world as a game; here, every NPC is a living person, and these gang NPCs are particularly good at adjusting to the situation, reading people.”

”So it’s not that I’m impressive; it’s my boss who’s impressive.” Baozi concluded.

Hei Bing No. 2 opened his mouth, but in the eyes of others, it was just a ’beep beep beep’ sound.

”Brother Hei Bing, you can do ventriloquism?” Plane was first stunned, then excitedly said, ”I can do it too, let’s exchange notes sometime, I rap, what type are you?”

”That’s not ventriloquism, Brother Hei Bing was talking about something from reality, so it got censored by the system,” Pretty Sheep, oh no, Pp Boss said.

”Censored in the game too?” Baozi was startled, it was the first time he’d heard such a thing.

”Yes, including but not limited to conversation, text, voice, and some special ways of conveying messages, like secret codes, we’ve tried it all, none worked.”

”What happens if we tell an NPC that we’re players?” Plane asked curiously.

”First a warning, then account deletion on the second offense.”

Plane took a cold breath, ”Are the developers orphans? Aren’t they worried about not selling this game?”

”A world nearly 100% virtually real, would you be willing to let go?” Hei Bing No. 2 responded nonchalantly.

”Alright, we’re here!”

The private elevator went all the way to the roof, and as the elevator door opened, a wave of heat and noise rushed forward.

A large oil barrel was burning, surrounded by a group of people, including gang members, residents of Hanging Street, and some young people who looked like white-collar workers.

At this moment, these people were shouting loudly, the veins on their necks bulging out.

And in the center of the circle, three Mechanical Transformers were besieging a young man in a tank top.

The young man had sharp and rebellious eyes, looking like a cocked gun.

All three Mechanical Transformers had modified arms and were known here as Mechanical Boxers.

A level 10 big monster!

Even though their firepower systems were dismantled, just looking at those gorilla-thick arms showed how dangerous they were.

Indeed, with every punch the three threw, there was an explosive sound, and their fists were like pile driver hammers, hitting the ground and walls, immediately creating a pit.

What’s even more terrifying, the three worked together like one person; whenever one used up his punching strength, another immediately filled in. They were like a seamless copper wall that continued to shrink.

Faced with this situation, the young man in the tank top almost compressed his body to the limit, standing at 1.8 meters tall but seeming nimble as a dwarf.

”Take him down!”

”Tear him apart!”

”Kill, kill, kill!”

Pp Boss’s face turned pale under this fanatic atmosphere, involuntarily stepping back two steps, while Hei Bing No. 2 subconsciously reached for his waist.

The rule of these underground fights was that once you stepped into the ring, life and death were decided—spectators most wanted to see someone ripped in half.

”They’re cheating!”

Pp Boss suddenly spoke, and following her gaze, all three Mechanical Boxers had electrode patches on their temples, showing that a Neural Editor was secretly controlling the fight using combat software.

”Don’t rush, just watch,” Baozi said meaningfully.

Sure enough, in the next moment, things suddenly changed.

Brother Umbrella leaped backwards as if to slam the back of his head onto the ground, but the leading Mechanical Boxer tightened his limbs and staggered forward under a gravity of over a hundred pounds.

Invisible single molecule lines were wrapped around the mechanical arms.

Brother Umbrella’s eyes shot a dangerous gleam; his waist moved in mid-air as if it would break, and his right leg kicked out like lightning, forming a black shadow, hitting the opponent’s throat.

In the player’s eyes, a damage of 300 points was done, triggering critical and double-hit effects.

Yet without his maneuver, a mechanical boxer appeared expressionless behind him, smashing a fist towards his back.

The players and spectators saw something incredible happen: Brother Umbrella spun around without leverage, swinging his long legs like in a Thomas spin, catching the unprepared two Mechanical Boxers in his rotation, and leaving countless blood marks on their arms, necks, and faces, turning them into bloodied figures in seconds.

In the falling blood, everyone saw nearly transparent single molecule lines bind the three together, like a complex pulley system, remarkably unnoticed throughout by the Mechanical Boxers.

The match ended with Brother Umbrella’s victory.

”Brother, you’re strong, how about I recommend you to the Dragon Head, you might just jump straight to Double Flower Red Staff.”

Rejecting the Welfare Gang members’ invitation, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella unwrapped the single molecule lines from the corpses, nodded at Baozi as a greeting, then took off his jacket and wiped the blood with a towel from his bag.

”Damn, that’s badass!” Plane’s eyes almost popped out.

”So cool!” Pp Boss’s face turned red with excitement.

Hei Bing No. 2 pursed his lips, thoughts unclear.

After the person changed into a new black T-shirt, Baozi approached, knowing that the other disliked small talk, he got straight to the point.

”There’s a group task I think you might be interested in.”

Brother Umbrella said nothing, instead focusing on removing wrist and ankle guards and rewinding the single molecule lines.

He opened the system panel and added the remaining experience points.

[Civilian level increased to 10max]

[Your character potential has been slightly improved]

[As the first full-level civilian player, you obtained the passive skill: Ordinary Path]

Ordinary Path: As long as you want to, you can always be the most unassuming person in the crowd, but you know, this is only a facade.

’A bystander’s skill?’

’Quite fitting for my next profession.’

Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella looked up, ”Send me the task time, I’ll participate if I’m available, got something to do, logging off for now.”

With that, Brother Umbrella jumped onto the roof next door without turning back, disappearing in a few breaths.

”Is it over?” Plane was dumbfounded, ”This guy’s a bit aloof, huh?”

”He’s not usually like this, must have something going on offline.”

In the past days working together, Baozi gained some understanding of him. Although he couldn’t say he was warm inside despite being cold outside, he wasn’t one to pretend out of arrogance.

Baozi thought for a moment and decided to treat these player friends to some compensation, ”Since you’re here, it’s my treat for a late-night snack.”

”Sure, sure, I’ve eaten pig slop for days now; I’m dying to have something else,” Plane was the first to respond.

Pp Boss and Hei Bing No. 2 exchanged glances and shrugged simultaneously.

...

Just as Baozi decided to open his wallet, at Ahong’s safe house, the young hacker adjusted the ancient network pod.

”No issues logging in two people.”

Gao Gong shrugged, ”What are we waiting for then!”
