Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Watching the face in front of him, Gao Gong squinted his eyes.

Such a familiar name, as a high-end player from the earlier stages, this person fully demonstrated what it meant to be an operational player.

And looking at this NPC, Baozi and Big Muscle Dominator were also whispering not far away.

”Wow, this NPC is quite handsome, just my type.”

Looking at the muscular Big Muscle Dominator, Baozi was silent for a moment, took two steps to the side, and chuckled awkwardly:

”I didn’t expect you to have such a preference!”

”By the way, why didn’t you let me collect the money just now, early game Game Coin isn’t worth much,” Big Muscle Dominator suddenly said, clearly showing he wasn’t all brawn and no brain.

”Is money important, or is a high-end player important?” Baozi said meaningfully, ”I have a hunch this game will make waves.”

Not far away, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella suddenly turned his head and gestured to the two.

”What’s going on?”

”There’s a mission,” Rainy Night Lord said calmly.

Baozi’s eyes lit up, and he hurriedly put on a flattering smile: ”Boss, rest assured, whatever the mission is, we’ll find a way to help you solve it.”

Big Muscle Dominator also hurried over with a serious face: ”I’ve drifted half my life, only regretting not meeting a wise lord earlier, if you would not abandon—”

”Ahem,” Gao Gong cleared his throat twice and spoke calmly, ”I’m busy, I need someone to help me fetch something, are you willing to help?”

Soon, the system’s ’ding’ sound rang out.

Title: Fetch Goods

Difficulty: Easy

Mission Brief: Go fetch a package for the mysterious Prosthetic Doctor Mr. G, location: Welfare Gang lair, recipient: Leaky

Mission Objective: Package

Mission Reward: Experience +100, Mr. G Affection +5

Note: This mysterious NPC has a vast background, dig deep into him, and perhaps you’ll gain something.

Seeing this note, the three of them simultaneously dropped their jaws.

Hidden NPC!?

Hidden Mission!!

Among them, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella was the most emotional, the reason was simple, this small shop was quite inconspicuous, and he just happened to try the ’Insight’ skill on the shopkeeper.

At that moment, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella’s whole body hair stood up, it was a strong sense of danger, as if the other could wipe him out in an instant if desired.

Name: Gao Gong

Race: Symbiote

Level: ???

Profession: ???

Personal Attributes: ???

It was his first time encountering an NPC full of question marks, and what kind of bloodline is a Symbiote? Why would such a powerful NPC willingly stay in this small shop, what’s his purpose?

Most importantly, when he saw this NPC, a flicker of reminiscing appeared in the NPC’s eyes.

Why?

”What are we waiting for then,” seeing Brother Umbrella unusually dazed, Baozi couldn’t help coughing and said.

”Wait a moment.”

Gao Gong took out two small pistols from the cabinet and tossed them over.

”Take these for self-defense, come with me for a moment.”

Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella hesitated, then followed Gao Gong into the modification room.

Although the two small pistols were just Whiteboard, Baozi and Big Muscle Dominator still felt a warmth, such a nice NPC, even giving you guns for protection, could this person be a hidden Newbie Village chief?

”Damn, what’s this!?”

Big Muscle Dominator let out a sudden shout upon seeing the prosthetic bodies in the glass cabinet.

”Why are you shouting?”

Baozi looked down and was also stunned.

Biochemical Triceps (Fine): Biochemical muscle group of a battlefield veteran, a classic soldier modification surgery, Strength +2, recoil of rifles and submachine guns -20%, increases a certain level of ricochet probability

Reinforced Skull (Fine): Uses stimulative biochemical surgery to cause significant growth of facial bones, cranial bone armor +150, headshot damage -20%

Magnetic Finger Strips (Whiteboard): Gun weapon reload time -8%

Thigh Pendant Slot (Fine): Installs short-gun plugin groove on the outside of the thigh, Prosthetic Body plugin slot +1, draw gun speed +15%

Iron Blade Arm Slot (Whiteboard): Special blade groove modification on the inner forearm, Prosthetic Body plugin slot +1

...

”Just now Brother Umbrella leveled up twice and only added two attribute points, right?”

Big Muscle Dominator gulped and looked at the only ’Excellent’ grade prosthetic body in the cabinet.

High Protein Burner (Excellent): Strength +5, Agility +5, Endurance -20%, attached skill: high-speed fat burning, armor +30%, flame damage -50%, melee attacks carry a certain burn effect, duration: 60 seconds

”One piece of equipment is worth as much as Level 10 attribute points, is this how you play the game?” Baozi murmured.

Big Muscle Dominator looked at the gun in his hand, then at the full glass cabinet’s exhibit, and gulped.

”Does this game support zero-dollar purchase?”

”Don’t be silly, Advanced Equipment isn’t gained that easily, finish the Newbie Village missions first.”

Shortly, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella came out, his previously broken hand now a mechanical one, with Strength and Endurance each increased by one point.

”Let’s go.”

The three reluctantly left the place, Gao Gong smiled, soon these people would realize that in the Cyber Realm, levels aren’t everything.

...

The three quickly found Welfare Gang members at the entrance of the arcade.

”Are you sent by Master? Leaky Bro, he’s not here, he went to attack Sanye Street.”

The three of them then went to Sanye Street. Fortunately, this street wasn’t far; it was only about a ten-minute walk. When they arrived, they were shocked again. There were shattered corpses everywhere, on the ground, on the walls, with bullet holes all around. Several walls had even been blown down.

”In this game, is the gang firepower this fierce?”

The Big Muscle Dominator who was just mulling over whether to play GTA immediately chickened out. With his blood volume, probably two bullets would be enough to send him off.

Following the sound of gunfire, in a department store building, the three saw mechanical freaks wielding chainsaws and dog leg blades repeatedly rushing into the building, some even jumping straight to the second floor.

”Level 5 ordinary gang members, Level 9 Welfare Gang thugs, and some Double Flower Red Staff type advanced characters.”

The Welfare Gang thugs patrolling outside soon discovered the trio. After Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella presented Gao Gong’s token, the leading 3D Bodhisattva Man looked much better and called out. Soon someone handed over a package.

”Leaky is busy, tell Master, this is a gift from our Dragon Head.”

Baozi nodded and smiled, ”Thank you, big brother. May I ask how to address you, and is there any task?”

”Task?” Bodhisattva Man was stunned for a moment and looked Baozi up and down, sneering, ”Just with your small build, without any modification, what help can you offer?”

Baozi wasn’t angry, just muttered after the other person left.

”It seems every task has a threshold.”

Big Muscle Dominator’s eyes were fervently fixed on the other’s 3D Bodhisattva tattoo, as the golden Thousand-Handed Guanyin kept folding its hands together with each movement.

”That tattoo is so cool, it must be a skin, a standard golden skin!”

”Can you spend money in this game? I want to become strong!”

”Let’s go,” Baozi sighed, looking at the nearing end of the battle, ”As expected, there’s only one newbie welfare task available.”

The three soon returned to Hanging Street. When they were about to reach the adjacent street, Baozi suddenly paused and poked the Big Muscle Dominator, who was fixated on the 3D Bodhisattva.

”What’s wrong?”

”Look.”

Not far away was a sign emitting a pink glow, with two virtual girls dancing seductively below it.

”This kind of benefit too!” Big Muscle Dominator stared without blinking.

”Look at the sign, Little Muscle Dominator.”

”Hey, I’m called Big Muscle Dominator, not Little Muscle Dominator. You can also call me by my nickname ’Dom Dom’. Besides, what’s so interesting about the sign? ’Red Dream Club’,” Big Muscle Dominator frowned and thought for a moment, ”Why does this name sound familiar?”

”Forum, Sister Ji.”

”Damn, this is that silver den!”

Under the electronic sign was an elevator. Clearly, this was an underground club.

Rainy Night Lord stopped Big Muscle Dominator, who wanted to get closer for a look, and nodded toward the card-access guests.

”You can’t get in; it’s a membership club,” Rainy Night paused, ”and it’s dangerous.”

”Dangerous, where?”

”Killing you wouldn’t be a problem.”

After Rainy Night Lord finished speaking, he walked away, seemingly with no intention to explain further.

”Is Brother Umbrella suffering from writing too many grand narratives, making him a bit cold in real life?” Baozi muttered.

[Task completed, Experience +100, Mr.G favorability +5 (This favorability can be used for weapon discounts and modification discounts)]

’As expected, modifications are offered here!’

”Boss, is there any other task? We’ll definitely help you complete it!” Baozi was full of energy.

Gao Gong smiled and shook his head, starting to turn off the lights, close the windows, and lock the doors.

”Boss, why are you turning off the lights?”

”Of course, it’s because the day is over; what else?”

”Even NPCs clock out?”

Gao Gong gave Baozi a deep look, and the next moment, the player panel chimed.

[Mr.G’s favorability towards you -2]

Baozi felt like slapping himself.

”By the way, here’s a friendly tip: find a place to stay quick for the night. Nightless City is very dangerous at night.”

”Very dangerous, what do you mean?” Big Muscle Dominator asked.

”Even in broad daylight, there are gang fights. What do you think will happen at night?” Rainy Night Lord suddenly sneered.

”If we log out, what happens to our bodies?”

”Do they just vanish?” Big Muscle Dominator said, ”I’ll try.”

The next moment, his eyes rolled back, and he immediately fainted, with the other two quickly propping him up.

After about a minute, Big Muscle Dominator opened his eyes and woke up.

”How is it? Did it disappear?”

The two shook their heads.

Big Muscle Dominator suddenly tightened, ”This game’s anti-harassment system applies to male players too, right?”

”With a setup like Physical Strength Value, unable to log off directly, and can’t recharge, this game is such a rip-off!”

”It’s basically forcing us to work for NPCs to earn money!” Baozi complained.

”I’m hungry,” Big Muscle Dominator rubbed his belly, and it actually growled.

”I saw a capsule hotel on the way.” Rainy Night Lord suddenly said.

He needed to get some rest soon to restore his Physical Strength Value because he suddenly took on a task during the modification.
