Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

”We’re being tracked.”

On the highway, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella said while driving.

Unfortunately, Baozi and Big Muscle Dominator were too busy wide-eyed, staring around at the floating tracks above, the magnetic suspension taxis on the ground, the over 100-meter tall super 3D giant screens, and the peacekeepers in exoskeletons.

”Whoa!”

”This is too exaggerated!”

”This game is so realistic it’s unimaginable!”

”Did you see that beauty on the street? She just rolled her eyes at me!”

”This character interaction is way too real.”

Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella looked at the two almost sticking their heads out of the car, paused for a moment, then decisively shifted gears and started speeding on the highway.

”Faster, faster, Brother Umbrella, go faster!”

”Open the sunroof, I need some fresh air!”

Half an hour later, in a restroom at a gas station, in front of the glass mirror, were two figures dry-heaving.

”Ugh, Brother Umbrella, you were driving way too fast.”

”Ugh, the game being too realistic isn’t always a good thing.”

On the side, Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella stared at the face in the mirror, noticing that it actually resembled his real face by about thirty to forty percent.

What a strange game.

”Brother Umbrella, what do you do in real life? How are you so awesome, a professional race car driver?”

Baozi finally came over, smilingly asked.

”Yeah, Brother Umbrella, you’re totally amazing,” Big Muscle Dominator also agreed, ”how did you dare to make a move, after all, that was a slum version of ’Winter Soldier’.”

”Calculating his blood volume, plus skills, it should be—” Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella suddenly paused and said, ”Wait a minute, you guys don’t have the ’Insight’ skill?”

”Are we supposed to have it?” The two newbies replied dumbfoundedly.

The three compared their stats, and aside from the two attribute points gained from leveling up, the only difference was that he had an extra ’Insight’ passive skill, which allowed him to see NPC attributes below level 10.

’So, this game allows real-life experience to be converted into skills?’

Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella increasingly felt that this game was not simple.

All three of them simultaneously got a pursuit mission.

[Mission: Little Claw Gang’s Pursuit]

Difficulty: Normal

Mission briefing: You disrupted the Little Claw Gang’s human trafficking plan, and by street rules, the Little Claw Gang must retaliate.

Mission objective: Evade the Little Claw Gang’s pursuit once.

Mission reward: Experience +500, Street Reputation +100

”We got a mission!”

”Has that GTA vibe.”

”Bro, your money.”

The gas station owner walked over and handed Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella some bills.

Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella took them, divided the mechanic tokens into three shares, and handed them to the two.

”This is from selling the car.”

Big Muscle Dominator reached out, but Baozi stopped him, smiling, ”Brother Umbrella, you earned all of this; how could we take it? By the way, why sell the car?”

”The car’s too conspicuous, easy to be spotted.”

”What about that mechanical arm? It’s also loot, and it seems quite valuable.”

”It’s equally conspicuous, plus it has a built-in tracking system.”

”This stupid game doesn’t even have an inventory panel,” Big Muscle Dominator complained, tapping the panel for a long while without finding an inventory, annoyed.

Baozi laughed, ”Brother Umbrella, where are you planning to go next? Let’s go together. Strength in numbers, playing solo is boring.”

Rainy Night initially wanted to refuse, the reason being the same, three people were too conspicuous, but the last sentence moved him. Yeah, after all, it’s just a game.

”I’m planning to go to the Outer City District.”

”Outer City District, what’s that place?”

”Gang District, full of thugs, many gangs, a good place to hide, and I just heard, the gangs in the Outer City District are the easiest to join.”

The two perked up, chiming in unison, ”Job change!!”

...

The game forum was bustling.

Most players were discussing things like ’Whoa, this game is too real’, ’Is it for real, am I dreaming?’, ’Grandpa, your dream of virtual reality is finally a reality, I can dance on your grave’.

Gao Gong directly clicked into the Mechanical Split Star page.

’Brothers, guess what I saw?’

A player named ’Gao Da’ posted game screenshots, showing a three-story-high mecha performing live-fire shooting in a wasteland punk setting.

’Whoa, a mecha!’

’The true romance for men!’

’Where is this, bro, I’m coming to find you!’

’Wait, although the screenshot is blurry, thanks to my titanium dog eyes, isn’t that a loli sitting in the mecha cockpit?’

This player Gao Da proudly boasted, claiming he was born as the last version of a gene clone, with all five main attributes at 5 points, and had three profession choices upon starting: Mecha Academy, Hunter Academy, Equipment Academy, a standard protagonist template.

He also posted a selfie.

Below was a string of envy, jealousy, and hate.

’Damn, such white skin, is it albinism.’

’Bro, why don’t you have hair on your head.’

’Is this the price of being strong.’

This guy apparently originated from Flame Pass and became the last version of Flame Boy.

Gao Gong rubbed his chin, realizing the benefits of having a faction, as long as the benefits were up to par, players would naturally flock to it.

Besides, some players reincarnated into the ’Corporate Security Department’ and became honorable corporate security guards. Some became members of a bionic family, some returned from the battlefield with cyber psychosis and were amputees, and some were natives of the colony.

Most players had a good experience, but some were complaining.

’Brothers, the NPCs have no sense of martial ethics, I just got born and got killed!’ - Red Flower Demon.

’Bro, did the NPC that killed you have a mechanical arm?’ - I Love Eating Buns.

’Damn, how did you know?’

’When you got killed, I was right behind you.’

’By the way, the NPC that killed you was beaten to death by our Brother Umbrella.’

’Who is Brother Umbrella?’

’Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella.’

’The legendary literary guru? He plays this game too? Looking for inspiration?’

’Isn’t this a hentai game?! [excited emoji]’ - Trap Guy.

’Bullshit hentai game, help, someone save me, I’m stuck in a silver pit!!!’

A post quickly became popular.

The post was from a female player named ’Sister Ji.’ According to her version, she excitedly jumped into the game, intending to make a big name for herself, only to find out she was born in an underground nightclub, becoming a glorious and noble companion-type bionic, professional name, sex doll.

To prove her authenticity, ’Sister Ji’ also uploaded some clear uncensored photos: a row of bare white legs, scantily clad strippers, and a barmaid whose hair and skin could change color at will.

’Damn!!!!’

’Is this something I can see?!’

’Why are you still standing there, hurry and call the police, by the way, what’s the game’s emergency number?’

’By the way, what’s that computer-like thing? Can nightclubs connect to the internet to play games?’

’What’s this place, Red, Dream, Club, is it called that?’

Although most players had no sense of decency, they still had some personality. For a while, suggestions were made, admins were tagged.

’Sister Ji’ continued posting.

’Sister, a 28-year-old virgin who hasn’t even raised a little wolfdog before, and the first client turned out to be a robot.’

[Robot photo][Robot photo 2][Robot photo 3]

’...’

’...’

’By the way, do robots have such a function?’

’No, you should ask, does this game have that function?’

For a long time, ’Sister Ji’ didn’t reply.

Just as a bunch of sand sculpture players started to worry, ’Sister Ji’ replied again.

’Sister bravely sacrificed.’

’...’

’So fierce!?’

’Was it suicide or mutual destruction?’

’Martyr Legend—Sister Ji’s Own Story!’

Sister Ji posted a rolling eyes emoji.

’Stop talking nonsense, scared me to death, I thought I was really going to lose my chastity. As soon as the yellow robot touched me, the game’s anti-harassment protection mechanism was triggered, and I got kicked out of the game.’

’According to the system, this type of logout keeps the player’s level unchanged, keeps the skill level unchanged, and gives me an experience compensation pack.’

’There’s such a good thing, what about the character?’

’The system says it will randomly replace me with a local character, but the three-day death cooldown can’t be changed.’

’...’

’That’s not bad, a small gain.’

’True, the game designers who can make such a game must have thought of this.’

’I suddenly had a bold idea.’

’Wake up, friend, you’re a male character.’

’So what if I’m a male character? This game must have female robots, I don’t believe they don’t have this demand.’

’The system’s judgment of harassment doesn’t discriminate by gender, be careful of getting your account banned.’

Gradually, the topic turned to a strange angle.

’Strictly speaking, from a legal perspective, does that thing with a robot count as that thing?’

’I don’t believe everyone hasn’t played with a computer in bed.’

’Damn, this path can be taken?!’

Sister Ji ’[furious][furious], sister wants to go online to play games, not log out to receive experience packs!!!’

’By the way, won’t playing this game for a long time change my XP?!’

Gao Gong calmly closed the forum.

Isn’t this the style of sand sculpture players?

However, he still marked a few players, these players had relatively good luck, belonging to a standard god-tier start.

’Eldest Brother Hui,’ male player, his identity is the adopted son of a gangster godfather born through cloning technology.

’Dida,’ female player, born in the Cyber Network, became a low-level AI.

’World Prince,’ male player, a visitor from the past, thawed after fifty years.

’Get Out of the Way, I’ll Deliver First,’ male player, a collateral descendant of the Cloud Nobility.

These all come with their own background stories, it depends on whether these players are capable of digging out their own plots.

”Boss, do you fix arms here?”

Gao Gong looked up, three guys who were clearly players were peeking at the store entrance.

”What’s your name?”

”Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella.”
