Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 198: Chapter 177: Calamity of the Gods

Bai Jia and Qin Peng, although not lacking in fame in the previous oases, truly cannot be considered top-tier Hunters.

The commonly accepted standard for a top-tier Hunter is to kill a C-Level Radiation Beast single-handedly.

Bai Jia challenged three times, Qin Peng challenged twice, but both failed.

Precisely because of these failures, they were driven to pursue greater power, and when the news of the Cable Oasis’s mass recruitment came through, they didn’t hesitate for a moment and immediately joined in. After all, everyone knew that the most advanced Hunter modification technology was available here.

At this moment, the two were alternating shots, continuously obstructing the Flame Boys charging in from all directions.

These Flame Boys only wield some outdated weapons, yet, like Radiation Corpses, they are fearless and death-defying. Moreover, their bodies are peculiar; unless you hit vital points, it’s hard to kill them.

Bai Jia personally witnessed a Flame Boy with brain fluid oozing, roaring as he charged forward.

If not for this, they wouldn’t have been exposed this quickly.

Qin Peng took a large step, an Arm Blade sprung from the groove in his forearm, and he fiercely decapitated the enemy.

”What do we do, should we retreat first?” Bai Jia asked while changing his magazine.

”Blow them up first!”

Qin Peng flicked his feet, and four mechanical wheels popped out from his feet.

”I’ll draw them away, you go detonate.”

The propulsion device in his calves erupted with a strong jet, and Qin Peng’s sliding speed rivaled some motorcycles, with agility far beyond. At this moment, he glided while firing, drawing the attention of these white monsters.

Bai Jia crawled forward, using cover to reach the calibrated bombs and connected several lines that had not been linked.

Then he fired several shots into the sky, which was the agreed signal.

Qin Peng heard the gunshots, hesitated hardly at all, and fled outward, dodging several Flame Boys’ gasoline bombs in the process.

”All you fire-playing bastards, go to hell!”

Accompanied by Qin Peng’s roar, an explosion instantly erupted.

Intense flames instantly enveloped over half of the checkpoint; a dozen Flame Boys had just walked out of the room, greeted by the surging flames.

Flame Boys truly became Flame Boys.

With the aid of the flames, the sniper rifle bullets accurately targeted each Flame Boy, taking them out.

”How many did you take out?”

”Three hidden sentries, what about you?”

”Five.”

”Brother Three-Eyed, what about you?”

Three-Eyed didn’t answer but frowned.

”Be careful, the big one is coming.”

From within the flames, a tall figure slowly emerged, a fat man nearly three meters tall, with a belly diameter of almost one meter. He was not just obese; his crimson muscles constantly wriggled. This guy had no skin; his entire body was raw flesh.

The high-temperature flames licking his surface caused his flesh to rapidly scab, crack, and ooze pus. After two or three cycles, the pus surprisingly covered the surface, preventing the flames from burning through.

”Damn, it’s the Butcher; be careful, Old Qin!”

Accompanied by Bai Jia’s exclamation, a massive bronze ball tore through the air and slammed over. Qin Jia’s pupils shrank as he flung himself to the right, the steel spikes on the ball grazing his back, stinging with heat.

”Shit!”

Bai Jia fired while quickly reloading; his fingernails were ’Magnetic Finger Strips,’ allowing him to shorten the loading time for firearms by 10%.

However, the Butcher used his mechanical arm to shield his face; the bullets embedded thickly into the opponent’s flesh, unable to penetrate.

The Butcher, an advanced soldier species from the Flame Motorcycle Faction, a guardian of the ’god,’ possesses combat power comparable to top-tier Mechanical Hunters.

The opponent’s right hand was transformed into a mechanical arm, which was now shaking and sending the giant steel ball swinging back with even greater speed towards Bai Jia.

Bai Jia felt a great sense of crisis; almost reflexively, he unleashed his trump technique. His waist began to heat up, his entire body growing hotter, his pupils dilating from the intense pain.

In the next moment, Bai Jia’s agility surged; with an exaggerated backbend, he dodged the giant hammer, then, with an incredible twist of his waist, he lunged toward his opponent with astonishing speed.

Bai Jia was now emitting a scorched smell; it was the scent of protein burning.

The high-protein burner, Bai Jia obtained the advanced plugin by chance. By burning his body’s protein, he gained immense power and agility.

But this only lasts for three minutes.

In just two seconds, Bai Jia appeared before the Butcher, driving his military dagger into the opponent’s thigh fiercely.

The Butcher let out a howl of pain.

Bai Jia swiftly slide below the opponent along the opponent’s hip, ending up behind him.

Preparing to drive his spike into the opponent’s waist.

However, a black shadow suddenly lunged from the left.

Bai Jia crossed his arms, and in the collision, vaguely heard the sound of bones cracking.

’With this massive body, he still has such speed.’

’No wonder I only stabbed the thigh, I was clearly—’

Bai Jia was smashed six or seven meters away, struggling to rise, only to see Qin Peng entangled with the opponent.

After pulling out a pain inhibitor and injecting it into his thigh, Bai Jia didn’t hesitate in the slightest and once again lunged back into the fray.

Even in a two-against-one scenario, facing this monster, the two were still faced with critical danger.

...

In Three-Eyed’s view, the whole world seemed to expand a million times; he could see the dust floating in the air, and even the ants climbing in the cracks of the walls.

According to his master the Blind’s words, if this eye is developed to its limit, it can even see every single cell in the human body.

And then he went blind.

According to the Blind’s words, anyone who walks this path must learn restraint.

Failure to restrain will result in the same fate as his.

Three-Eyed is a good child, he restrained the desire to see more intricate details and began to reduce his vision.

According to the boss’s words, a Biological Hunter must learn to control the biological Power himself.

This process is quite painful, the veins in his neck protruding prominently, but fortunately, a basin of cold water surged from his temple at the crucial moment, and he knew it was his ’Biological Plugin’ starting to operate.

Unlike mechanical plugins, biological plugins are modifications based on Biological Replicants, with a ’nerve deceleration device’ inserted into the transplanted eyeball.

Once the eye nerves transmit particularly quickly, the ’nerve deceleration device’ kicks in to slow the nerves down.

This is not the ability of the ’Electronic Bee Eye,’ but the ability of another Radiation Beast, the Vomiting Giant.

This all-devouring monster possesses an insatiable hunger, and the source of this hunger is the delayed nerve response.

Three-Eyed closed his eyes, and when he reopened them, there were only ten pupils left on his eyeballs, moving with the ’Butcher,’ a unique dynamic capture ability of the Electronic Bee.

Soon, these movements synthesized into an action pattern.

In this mode, Three-Eyed could even ’preemptively’ see the other’s actions.

Three-Eyed lifted his sniper rifle, unlike others, his sniper rifle had no scope.

He suddenly recalled scenes of hunting in the tribe, although he was thin and weak, he was always the one who hunted the most.

The next moment, the bullet flashed and vanished.

The Butcher’s head jerked violently, amidst a heart-wrenching scream, a bullet entered through the right eye and exited the back of the head.

This scream even alerted the Crawlers lurking in the dark.

”Tsk tsk, it seems I don’t need to help out anymore.”

As a monitor, Huang Wen of course knew there was a Butcher at this toll station, which was why the Crawler was brought over.

And now it seems, the Blind’s pupil, Three-Eyed, was not taken in for nothing after all.

The next moment, two punk-style motorcycles suddenly rushed out of the burned toll station.

On the motorcycles, four Flame Boys screamed wildly, making insulting gestures towards the people in the distance, their stance not even looking like an escape.

”Idiots!”

A bizarre light emerged from the Crawler’s eyes.

The next moment, in the stunned eyes of the Flame Boys, countless buds burst out from the motorcycles, the brakes failed, and the steering wheel couldn’t turn.

Soon, these motorcycles covered in buds turned around and slowly came back.

The Crawler crossed his arms, staring at the other side with old eyes.

”Show me those gestures again so this old man can take a look?”

Not a word was uttered.

Finally, after blocking the last desperate counterattack of this Butcher, the entire toll booth was taken out.

...

Elsewhere, Sunx Tu, this General Gorilla, was sitting on a Butcher’s corpse, talking with Huang Wen.

”It’s settled on my side, mm-hmm, there are indeed many areas for adjustment with the new Mechanical Module, I’ll report them upwards.”

But cast a glance at a field full of Flame Motorcycle Faction corpses.

Sunx Tu grinned, ”But even so, taking on ten Butchers single-handedly is still no problem.”

”Got it, continue as planned, by the way, the upper ranks want to arrange some new weapons for battlefield experimentation, so the plan needs to be adjusted slightly, no need to be so covert, we need to expose some traces to the opposition...”

...

Three days later

At Flame Pass, the Gray Divine Palace, a scene both fervent and bizarre.

A strong man with nasal tubes laughed heartily, drinking wine and milk at the same time.

Dwarf children bounced and jumped around.

Bionic Men with severed limbs danced inside.

Great fire basins were everywhere, flames raging, and the source of the flames was one charred body after another.

”Great and unrivaled god, the Great Hall of Fertility has produced 124 more of your offspring.”

An attendant half-kneeled on the ground, reporting respectfully.

”Congratulations, great god, with this, the number of your offspring will soon surpass ten thousand.”

The High Priest showed a flattering smile, yet his other head cursed loudly, ”You fool, we are facing a formidable enemy now, what use is it to have more offspring at this time!”

”Who can withstand the Divine Power!”

”You treacherous minister!”

The two heads yelled at each other, hands and feet flailing, soon coming to blows.

”Stop it!”

The conjoined High Priest quickly ceased his fighting, and from the darkness, a god with white hair yet robust strength stood up.

”I can feel it, a distant flame is burning, we must extinguish it quickly, or it will turn into a divine catastrophe.”
