Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 189: Chapter 168: Major Crisis

Overall, Gao Gong was quite satisfied with the harvest from Base No. 1, especially the Ancient Battlefield.

More than a dozen basic mecha blueprints, and advanced blueprints for War Bear Type III, Type IV, and Type V.

Experimented with the transformation of the Human-headed Leopard.

Clues about Mecha Technique.

The Emperor’s Might, which is temporarily unusable.

And the allegiance of three Synthetics.

In Gao Gong’s view, the most important gain was still the mecha blueprints.

The reason is simple; through the intelligence of the Security Corps, he was surprised to discover that the mecha market on Mechanical Split Star seemed unexplored.

There are two directions for mecha.

One is getting bigger and bigger, hundreds of meters, kilometers, eventually becoming Interstellar Armor, commonly known as Gao Da.

The other gets smaller and smaller, ultimately becoming Nanomaterial Armor.

However, on Mechanical Split Star, the market for large mechas has been replaced by Large Combat Robots.

And the small market is the world of exoskeletons, whose performance doesn’t match mechas, but they’re cheap.

If you want something better, you can directly choose Bio-Fusion Armor, whose technology is mature, and Biological Armor can avoid most electronic detections.

Only mechas sit at an awkward middle ground.

Big ones are unnecessary, small ones are unaffordable, only some Cloud Nobility customizes Advanced Mechas to be unique, like the ’Human Armor Unity Type’ Anna wears.

However, in Gao Gong’s view, this is a great opportunity.

From the data of the Ancient Battlefield, it’s apparent that Empire’s mecha technology is not mature.

Perhaps this is also why mecha technology hasn’t become popular.

But it’s okay that it’s not mature; Gao Gong knows how to make it ’mature’ quickly.

Even if there are some failed experiments, they could be sold to players in the future.

A man’s dream is to pilot a Gao Da, isn’t it?

What’s wrong with spending some money for a dream?

Mechas can be the flagship product of his faction.

The ’Hunter Module’ is good, but it only applies to the profession of Mechanical Hunter and can only be used internally.

Instead, mechas have the chance to shine brightly in future Beast Mechanical Disasters.

Especially if combined with Mecha Technique, it’ll be perfect.

So, before leaving, Gao Gong took Old Jinya with him.

Faced with Gao Gong’s sincere invitation, especially the barrel of the grenade launcher.

Old Jinya found it hard to refuse.

After a sincerely conducted conversation, Old Jinya revealed everything about how he acquired Mecha Technique, without hiding anything.

It had nothing to do with the adventure Gao Gong imagined.

Decades ago, when Old Jinya was still a rookie, their instructor, to inspire the rookies, promised to teach a unique skill to whoever progressed the fastest.

Old Jinya ended up as the winner.

That skill, ’Mechanical Heart Extraction,’ was the instructor’s reward.

About the instructor’s background, all Old Jinya knew was that he was transferred from the Imperial Capital Guard, rumored to have a very deep family background, and was here to gain experience. Oh right, the instructor’s surname was Xiao.

”Surname Xiao, are you sure it’s Xiao?”

”Of course, Old Jinya doesn’t dare say much, but my memory is impeccable, the instructor’s surname is definitely Xiao.”

Surname Xiao, and from the Imperial Capital, that basically confirms it’s the Xiao Family.

However, in the previous life, Gao Gong only knew the Xiao Family as Mother City nobility, a vast military-industrial complex. In the late Cyber Test Field, they had tasks related to ’Bio-Fusion Armor’ from the Xiao Family.

But he had no impression of the Xiao Family having expertise in ’Mecha Technique.’

Logically, if this family really had missions related to ’Mecha Technique,’ it would’ve been uncovered by players long ago.

Mecha is the stars and the sea!

Could it have been lost?

Gao Gong decided to find an opportunity to probe Xiao Tong.

As for Old Jinya, Gao Gong did not intend to let him leave just like that.

This Imperial old soldier’s identity might be of great use.

At least the three Imperial Synthetics were more convinced of Gao Gong’s identity because of it. If he weren’t the Black Prince’s descendant, why show such interest in Imperial officers?

Moreover, an old hand like him is the most suitable for dealing with players.

...

Leaving Base No. 1, Gao Gong didn’t head straight to Base No. 2, but intended to meet up with Director Du in a desert town first.

According to reports from his informants, Director Du already knew about him becoming a live-in son-in-law of the Security Corps.

Gao Gong could already foresee the ensuing storm.

So he’d already prepared and pulled out something resembling a ’handle.’

With a light press on the ’handle,’ a mechanical washboard popped out.

”Hmph hmph hmph hmph hmph—”

A true man knows when to bow and bend, Director Du’s anger can only last for a short spurt.

At that moment, he thought of a famous hero’s phrase.

”One can marry and wear it.”

As long as he survives Director Du’s anger, he’ll still be that punk factory brother in Director Du’s eyes, and Director Du can continue being a rich lady for him to rely on.

He felt quite sure of himself.

...

At the same time, a colossal vessel appeared above the desert town.

Sky Mother Ship

Black Rose stood on the deck, the cold Gale brushing against her face, her red hair like fire.

Little Finger hesitated but ultimately decided to intervene, since the young wolf had offered valuable suggestions for his Reproductive System transformation.

”Sister Rose, aren’t we supposed to go to the Mother City? Is there still enough time?”

After cleaning up the rebellious forces in the Dark Net and subduing insider trading executives, Black Rose planned to follow Gao Gong’s scheme: stir things up in the Mother City to gain the trust of those Cloud Nobility and pave the way for her control of the ’Electronic Grid.’

But before leaving the desert, Sister Rose suddenly got the idea of wanting to visit that factory girl.

The two women actually know each other and have rather negative impressions of each other.

Sister Rose thought Director Du was a countryside factory girl.

Director Du thought Sister Rose was a nouveau riche.

Both sides were quite displeased with the other.

Seeing Black Rose silent, Little Finger chuckled and said, ”The environment in the Desolate Desert isn’t good; it might affect the skin. How about we don’t go?”

Black Rose shot him a glance, her willow eyebrows raised like a blade’s edge.

”What? Are you trying to tell me what to do?”

”Wouldn’t dream of it,” Little Finger immediately conceded, thinking better to save himself if he can’t help others, and immediately said:

”Then I won’t go down; I’ll help you monitor the Sky Mother Ship.”

Black Rose sneered, ”What, don’t dare to go down?”

”How could that be? I’m not afraid of that guy.”

Though the guy has some formidable fighters under him.

Little Finger cleared his throat, gave it some thought, and finally earnestly advised, ”Sister Rose, you can go down and beat that country bumpkin woman; that’s no problem, but don’t eliminate her. That kid always looks smiley but actually has quite a temper.”

”Who said I was going to eliminate her,” Black Rose sneered, ”If she’s going to operate in my territory, shouldn’t she pay a protection fee first?”
