Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Gao Gong indeed had thoughts of leaving. With his series of bold moves, the Hydra battle was clearly not going to happen, and under the effect of the ’Radiation Annihilation Agent,’ metropolitan areas would be dismantled one by one.

Without a large number of low-level Radiation Beasts as a base, the higher-level Radiation Beasts would starve to death.

No missions and no monsters, so what was the point of staying on this map?

He kind of wanted to open a new map in Nightless City, with Giant Corporation Branches, Mechanical Main Brains, Street Gangs, Technology Associations, Prosthetic Black Markets, and Secret Systems; there, it was another level of the underworld, not just about fights and slaughters.

Corporate war in a year, Cyber Tide in two, and the Mechanical Split Star explosion in three.

Gao Gong was a bit impatient.

But the excited thought just flashed through his mind. He calmly smiled and said, ”Not now. No matter what, I must make proper arrangements for you all first.”

In his vision, the New Oasis would become his production base. The scientific blueprints he obtained from the new map would be turned into concrete objects in this rear base.

The secrets of the Research Institute and the ends of the Security Corps, he couldn’t just walk away without handling them properly.

After confirming Gao Gong’s thoughts, Aunt Xiang secretly breathed a sigh of relief and threatened, ”Now that things are going so well, you can’t just drop the ball and leave, or I’ll get someone to take you out.”

”Don’t worry, as long as you don’t make me Fat Xiang’s dad, I’m not going to run away.”

He still wanted to experience the effect of the faction in advance.

Gao Gong lit a cigarette and nonchalantly walked back into the crowd.

Professor Han looked at him thoughtfully, Director Du frowned, then firmly decided to manage this New Oasis well. Without earning enough money, their man might unknowingly be lured away by someone else.

Only with money can a man be well kept, this was Director Du’s life experience.

...

After paying respects to those old guys, the group arrived at a temporary base in New Hope City. Professor Han specially called Gao Gong to a temporary medical point; its predecessor was an abandoned hospital, although most equipment was scrapped, there were enough beds.

Resisting the Beast Tide couldn’t happen without casualties, and compared to failing to resist the Beast Tide, having all the living swallowed up entirely, the current situation could be considered much better.

Throughout Gao Gong’s journey, the Mechanical Hunters were a given, and others like the Security Corps soldiers, Bio-Fusioners, and officials showed respectful expressions and voluntarily made way.

With the end of the Beast Tide, theoretically, his career as a special consultant had also come to an end.

But from the current look of things, no one dared stir up trouble; Gao Gong’s reputation suppressed everything.

Speaking of reputation, Gao Gong opened the system panel, and sure enough, the reputation had increased again.

[Your regional reputation exceeds 15,000 points, gaining a new title, Beast Tide Resister]

Beast Tide Resister: A victory that can be considered great, marks the beginning of humanity’s shift from defense to attack. From this point onward, the shift in stance will be different, and as the one guiding all this, your fame will spread beyond the battlefield.

The maximum regional reputation is 20,000 points, and it’s increasingly harder to gain it as you go higher. Next, unless Gao Gong overthrows the Security Corps or destroys factories, this ’Beast Tide Resister’ is pretty much the limit.

It’s worth mentioning that regional reputations cannot be used interchangeably. In other regions, reputation needs to be rebuilt from scratch.

Getting the reputation of five regions over 10,000 points unlocks planet reputation, and then, your fame will reach the highest rulers of this planet, and some of your words may influence the planet’s direction.

And reputation doesn’t necessarily need to be completed through monster farming. Scientific inventions, managing forces, market dominance, and cultural invasion can all increase regional reputation.

Regional reputation has many hidden benefits, you’ll receive recognition from local forces, have a higher chance of obtaining advanced tasks, some hidden NPCs will be more inclined to cooperate with you, and you might even receive corporate endorsements.

However, if your reputation is negative, it will lead to a series of adverse consequences, the simplest example being wanted by official forces.

But this type of negative reputation can also have some benefits, like access tickets to the Dark Net and Black Market, tasks from villain NPCs, and Rebel Army and terrorists are more likely to recruit someone like you, a ’righteous person.’

Raising the reputation of five regions to unlock planet reputation, these five regions’ reputations don’t necessarily need to be positive.

Even if you’re on the Rebel Army’s side, as long as you can climb the Technology Tree, you can still gain favor from the Mother City, and this is the black and red route.

’Planet Reputation’ is also a prerequisite for running a ’planet corporation.’

Gao Gong was pulled into a testing room by Professor Han.

”I noticed before that your current physical state is very unusual,” Professor Han said seriously.

”It’s nothing, I’m currently in the post-maternity recovery phase.”

Professor Han twitched his mouth, ”Stop joking around, take off your clothes, let me check you.”

When Professor Han received the test report, his expression was very serious.

”Your body contains a large number of Crimson Empress cells. They’ve invaded half of your body’s systems. There’s also a metallic cell aggregate, with shadows of Bio-Fusion cells and the Meat-Machine Mechanical Body, occupying a quarter of the human body system.”

Professor Han opened the virtual projection, and under the X-ray glow, Gao Gong’s internal body was quite chaotic, mostly writhing crimson, partly gloomy black, both sides in a tug of war, fiercely fighting, Gao Gong’s physical strength only barely maintained the human body system from collapsing.

”In this situation, any other person would die immediately; only a freak like you can still function normally.”

Gao Gong squinted his eyes and suddenly smiled, ”Didn’t you notice anything else odd?”

”Odd?” Professor Han was stunned and turned to the inspection report, falling into deep thought.

Gao Gong remained calm.

In the Cyber Realm, levels are relatively easy to rise, but body modification is quite tough.

The higher the level, the more direction is needed for modification, so as to improve modification efficiency.

This involves a concept—main plugin.

After level 10, each stage of modification requires a main plugin, all prosthetic modifications need to revolve around this main plugin to maximize modification efficiency.

Advanced biological plugin - Reproductive Soldier Body can be used as a biological main plugin at level 20.

Top-level biological plugin - Crimson Empress can be used as a biological main plugin at level 30.

This directly saves Gao Gong a lot of time.

Because sometimes, even within the scope of an entire planet, finding a suitable plugin is not always possible.

Compared to this, the temporary loss of power is nothing.

In fact, the biggest problem within Gao Gong’s body is not this.

Professor Han finally lifted his head, somewhat puzzled and unsure.

”Why do I feel that there is a special bionic structure inside your body?”

”You’ve noticed it,” Gao Gong glanced sideways.

Co-evolution Seed: Under the influence of this seed, your mechanical body and biological body will cooperate more harmoniously, but as the seed takes root and sprouts, it will gradually engulf you into a special evolution system.

This special system is certainly the main system of war, once the seed is fully integrated with the flesh, ’Gao Gong’ becomes a sub-body of AI, this account is a complete waste.

’Rainy Night with a Knife and No Umbrella’ is just like that.

”You’ve been targeted by the Knight Order’s backhand!?”

Sure enough, Professor Han was very shocked upon hearing this news.

As a notorious terrorist organization with operations across the globe, the Knight Order is infamous, the Revenge Knight Order, Soul of the Fallen Kingdom, Pure Mechanical Destroyer, Key of Evolution, War Celestial Calamity, most forces within the Rebel Army pursue ’improvement’ and ’innovation’, only it steadfastly walks the path of rebellion.

”I can’t comprehend it.”

Gao Gong muttered to himself.

Artificial life evolves in the direction of greater intelligence, not in the direction of becoming human, this is common sense in the Mechanical Realm, so it wouldn’t be surprising even if this ’war’ entity is an S-Level Mechanical Beast.

The key is this ’co-evolution’.

Gao Gong naturally knows what this is, it’s the hallmark of a slave-type Biological Civilization, where the main race of this civilization upgrades through gene fusion by enslaving other interstellar races, thus managing planetary farms and star system biospheres, and more advanced ones directly enslave other Carbon-Based Civilizations.

How did this AI end up taking the carbon-based route?

This leap is too far-reaching.

Gao Gong does have a few guesses, but these guesses do not apply to planet-level AI.

Artificial intelligence has no parents, nor does it have ancestral teachings.

Unless this AI is also a front-line player, with shadows behind shadows, like some super lifeform devoured this artificial intelligence’s source code and reorganized the biological computer.

That’s kind of possible.

But isn’t this just a set of nested dolls?

Gao Gong is not very worried about this ’co-evolution’.

Following the fusion route, the least fear is being controlled.

The so-called transformation at level 10, transformation at level 20, and metamorphosis at level 30.

As long as he succeeds in transformation, he can suppress this ’evolution seed’.

Once successful at level 30 metamorphosis, he can even devour this ’seed’ and trace it back in style.

That’s why Gao Gong fought for a year.

If he doesn’t reach level 30 in one year, he might as well cut his throat and hang himself.

”Forget it, that’s not the main point, I came mainly to suppress rejection.”

Lowered attributes and doubled skill consumption are fine, the key is the surge in rejection, making it so he absolutely can’t engage others.

Although the great enemy is gone, and it’s relatively safe, at the very least there must be means of self-preservation.

Plant Detoxification, Protein Heavy Metal Ion Precipitation Skill, Phantom Limb Removal.

The three surgeries were quickly completed.

Seeing the reduced rejection numbers through surgery, only for them to spike again after a small activity, both of them fell silent.

Professor Han sighed deeply, ”With your degree of rejection, it’s better to prepare early and go to the Research Institute.”

Gao Gong’s heart moved, ”Why, does that place have equipment to reduce rejection?”

”You’ll know when you get there.”
