Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 186: Chapter 165: Robot’s Revenge

Sunx Hong and Vice Director Zhao were both sitting on such an advanced flying device for the first time.

Sunx Hong appeared calm, seemingly unmoved by external factors.

In contrast, Vice Director Zhao was very excited, touching this and that.

”What a powerful propulsion system. Is this the legendary anti-gravity engine? Such a sound barrier structure, no noise at all during takeoff, has the ’thermal motion noise control’ reached a soundless level? As expected of Mother City technology.”

The three head synthetic workers, Bing, Ding, and Geng, were also somewhat excited, but their passion lay in different directions.

”So what about anti-gravity technology? We already achieved that during the Imperial Era.”

”Energy shields? Our escort ships have them too, and in triple layers.”

”Just a space exploration spaceship. We have the Empire’s scientific research vessels.”

The three old fellows picked apart various things and soon started arguing with Vice Director Zhao.

Gao Gong ignored these somewhat excited old folks and thoughtfully looked at Sunx Hong.

Sunx Hong: The leader of the biological forces. Due to her efforts in dark undertakings, her biological capabilities are gradually developing towards manipulation routes.

She and Huang Wen both added 100,000 alliance experience points to Gao Gong.

Generally speaking, if one is an alliance character of the combat type, the level requirements are higher.

”What’s the matter, boss?” Sunx Hong’s flat tone had a hint of unnaturalness.

”Pondering how to develop you.”

Sunx Hong’s eyes widened slightly, subconsciously stepping back two steps.

Gao Gong remained calm.

A key reason for returning this time was to help upgrade and transform his subordinates.

The grand ambition of the empire cannot rely on him alone.

Sunx Hong and Huang Wen are the targets of his focused support.

As the alliance level rises, aside from a few who can follow the path of a Biological Hunter, most biological warriors will become cannon fodder-type players.

Every alliance needs cannon fodder, or in other words, basic combat units.

Cannon fodder can exist, but the commander of the cannon fodder force cannot be a cannon fodder themselves.

It would be best to transition Sunx Hong into a Spiritual Manipulation type, like Little Woman.

However, Little Woman has the Great Brain to assist her, allowing her spiritual power to rise ’effortlessly.’

But Sunx Hong is different. She has no backing, and her qualifications aren’t remarkable.

She also used Professor Han’s gene development drug, but so far, her superpower hasn’t been developed.

Gao Gong decided to ’force a seed to grow.’

Among the biological abilities of the Crimson Empress, there is a ’flesh spores’ type, and he’s already had Professor Han mimic this part of the genetic code.

If successful, Sunx Hong could automatically increase her combat power by the number of biological soldiers under her command.

When Gao Gong presented this plan to Sunx Hong, she hardly hesitated and said, ”I agree to the transformation!”

At least in terms of willpower, she was quite qualified.

But perhaps it was a delusion, as he felt Sunx Hong seemed to secretly breathe a sigh of relief.

As for Huang Wen, he was also planning to have a good talk with him.

Electronic Knight Selena has become their captive, and the pathogen of that electronic biological virus has been resolved.

He prepared two pathways for Huang Wen.

One, of course, is to rescue him from the ’vegetative state’ and turn him back into Mechanic Huang Wen.

The second is to undergo deep transformation, turning him into ’Machine Will.’

’Machine Will’ is a form of AI, more hardware-oriented, somewhat like an industrialized Insect Nest Will.

In the former, he would become a front-line commander, with status similar to Daisila.

In the latter, he would become the master of his ’Machine System.’

Gao Gong wasn’t sure which option Huang Wen would choose, but either choice was fine.

Machine Split Star is known for its numerous large AIs.

For example, the Mechanical Main Brain of every Mechanical City is a form of ’large AI.’

Incidentally, the Mechanical Main Brain of Nightless City is called Mechanic.

In the future, under the incitement of a group of giant corporation branch executives, the ’6th Generation of the Mechanical Era’ would forcibly devour the ’5th Generation of the Mechanical Era,’ causing systemic malfunctions in Nightless City and eventually falling to the Knight Order’s army.

The endings of these executives were also exceedingly miserable.

As deserved.

The commotion woke Angie from a rare good sleep. She emerged from her room, rubbing her eyelids, startled by a few unfamiliar faces, then flared up with anger.

”How dare you bring these inferior species onto the spaceship without permission! Are you crazy? Are you trying to suffocate me to death?”

This little brat still hasn’t been adequately trained.

Gao Gong cast a sidelong glance at her, then looked at Sunx Hong, suddenly asking, ”You were a training instructor in the Security Corps before, right?”

”Yes! I was in charge of the recruits’ training!”

”Perfect, I’m assigning a task to you.”

Gao Gong felt that just exercising wasn’t enough; he needed to master some military skills as well.

Angie probably didn’t expect that a more tragic future was decided the moment she spoke.

...

Base No. 1 is not far from the ancient battlefield, and at the speed of a Level 8 Flying Device, it took less than ten minutes for everyone to arrive at the previous ambush location, near a garbage mountain.

Unlike the environment with endless yellow sand, at the ancient battlefield, one garbage mountain after another rises from the ground, with abandoned machinery, destroyed large military structures, and even remains of aircraft carriers everywhere.

Although the main focus of the battle back then was on the main continent, it’s evident that the predecessor of this 9-3 Guanzhong Plate was affected too, as the original continental plate combined with the island country, forcing the hulls that floated on the sea to be pushed ashore.

After all, it’s easy to go into the sea but difficult to come back ashore, causing such a strange occurrence, which must be the result of focused strikes by space-based weapons.

Around the garbage mountain, quite a few gold pickers were going in and out.

The place where Sunx Hong was ambushed earlier is near a garbage mountain that is very special, filled entirely with the remains of robots.

During the Civilization Era, Artificial Intelligence hadn’t evolved to this extent, so robots were genuine robots, with rough metal exteriors and exposed wires, lacking facial features, and most robots weren’t even ’human form’; they were tank-type, turret-type, beast-type.

Calling them robots, perhaps ’combat machines’ is more appropriate.

”White Tiger-type Combat Robot, Leopard-style Robot, Executioner No. 3.”

Three synthetic people walked on the garbage heaps, murmuring constantly as if entering a sort of reminiscence.

Unfortunately, most of the parts here were metal waste, anything truly valuable had already been picked clean.

Gao Gong looked at Vice Director Zhao and asked, ”Did the robots from the Imperial Era have basic intelligence?”

Vice Director Zhao shook his head and thought, ”Even if they did, after so many years, their intelligence components should be damaged, as during the Civilization Era, personality chips weren’t developed yet; machine intelligence was very fragile.”

Whether AI or intelligent robots, they actually aren’t immune to death; in fact, if calculated by lifespan alone, they are far inferior to carbon-based life forms of the same level.

It’s just that their manner of death is different from carbon-based life forms.

Their death isn’t due to cell division reaching a pinnacle, i.e., the so-called Hayflick limit.

Rather, it’s due to system updates, personality restructuring, algorithm revisions.

Each time there’s an upgrade, it’s actually a form of ’death.’

Therefore, the larger the AI, the more it tries to delay updates because its data layers can no longer endure such risks.

Once updated, it signifies that all underlying data must be reorganized.

The conflict between two generations of mechanical eras is intrinsically like this.

”So how come they suddenly attacked?”

”Maybe the warning system isn’t completely broken.”

Gao Gong suddenly turned his head, and his reproductive soldier body shifted along his arm into a pistol, with the other end pointing at an old Huang-toothed gold picker.

The guy’s teeth were very fitting for his profession, glittering with a golden smile.

The old gold picker raised his hands high, indicating no threat, and then approached with a fawning expression.

”Ladies and gentlemen, you must have come from outside this place, I mean, much further into the desert, perhaps even beyond it.”

”How do you know?”

The old gold picker smiled ingratiatingly and pointed at their clothes.

The people living here dress very ’Middle Eastern’ in style, wrapping every part of their body, while evidently, the attire of this group was completely out of place.

Due to the ’Radiation Charging Board’ effect, the radiation levels at Base No. 1 are very low, almost nonexistent.

Therefore, in the ’scorching summer,’ short sleeves and shorts are typical gear.

”What’s your purpose?”

”Hehe, I simply sell maps; since you guests just arrived here, you probably don’t know where’s safe, or where treasure hunting is worth it. The last batch of treasure hunters unearthed an advanced mechanical body with the help of my maps.”

”If you know everything, why don’t you earn the money yourself?”

”You’re joking, guest. Places with treasures are often fraught with danger; where would I dare to go?”

”Then how do you know there are treasures?” Vice Director Zhao countered.

”Hehe, I live here every day, I remember where people go frequently, where there are many dead, where gunshots are frequent, all in my head.”

The old Jinya grinned, ”When you observe long enough, you can figure some things out.”

”How much for one map?”

”One thousand Mechanical Coin.”

Vice Director Zhao was also stunned, one thousand Mechanical Coin, ten maps equals ten thousand, if one can sell ten maps a day, thirty days equals three hundred thousand.

This is even more than his own salary.

Gao Gong glanced at Vice Director Zhao, smirked, if it were you, you wouldn’t be able to do it either.

Gao Gong could clearly perceive that when he pulled the gun, at least five people were lurking in the shadows.

They were conducting gang operations.

”I’ll ask you one question, answer well, and I’ll buy a map.”

Old Jinya perked up, ”Alright, go ahead!”

”Have there been any unusual occurrences at this ancient battlefield recently? For example, a few days ago, my companions encountered a group of ancient robots attacking.”

”Robot attacks, they happen every year; it’s not unusual,” Old Jinya murmured, ”But now that you mention it, it seems like the robot ambushes have indeed increased recently.”

”Sir, there’s always been a saying at the ancient battlefield that ancient spirits appear annually, and each appearance seeks revenge.”
