Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 187: Chapter 166: Human-headed Leopard Transformation

The story from the other party was quite cliché, roughly about how the Imperial Army, after being wiped out by aliens, remained nostalgic for their homeland. Periodically, the souls would come out to wander, and during their wandering process, they believed they were still on the battlefield and would attack enemies with limitations.

”What does ’with limitations’ mean?” Vice Director Zhao asked, hitting the key point.

”They will focus on attacking unmodified creatures, especially the natives here,” Old Jinya lifted his outer garment, revealing his waist filled with wires and pipes, ”so Old Jin is not afraid of ten thousand things, but just in case, made some modifications himself.”

Gao Gong, with sharp eyes, immediately spotted the artificial kidney on the other party.

”A wild kidney type for courting, your modifications aren’t entirely to fend off ghosts, are they?”

”To fend off ghosts and also female ghosts.”

Gao Gong eventually bought a map, which was quite rough in content.

”Hehe,” Old Jinya rubbed his palms together, ”I wonder if the guest needs any other services besides the map? I also offer guide, escort, archaeology services here.”

”You also know archaeology?” Vice Director Zhao was amused.

Seeing the other party’s disbelief, Old Jinya gave a humble smile and fished out a dirty medal from his pocket.

”Divine Soldier Base Private Third Class Old Jin, salutes you!”

’According to the system scan, the medal material consists of zinc 12%, copper 14%, gold 14%... confirmed to be authentic.’

This time, even Gao Gong was somewhat impressed. The other party turned out to be an old soldier who survived the mechanical war, although, in terms of age, he would have been just a teenager back then.

...

Old Jin and his two temporarily summoned subordinates walked in the front. According to him, he would take Gao Gong to the place with the highest probability of treasure in this ancient battlefield, the core of the former base.

Vice Director Zhao was a bit worried: ”Boss, this Jinya may not have good intentions.”

”It’s not important.”

In the depths of Gao Gong’s right eye, white mist swirled and flickered, and in his ’vision,’ a large amount of mechanical scrap rose into the air, reorganizing and transforming back into large military structures of the Civilization Era.

At the same time, massive mechas began to manifest, taller than large combat robots, about 70 meters, already reaching the edge of large mechas.

According to the standards of ordinary planets, those between 10 meters and 100 meters are considered medium to small-sized mechas, while those above 100 meters are collectively referred to as large mechas.

The abdomens of these mechas had a noticeable mecha pod, in which human figures could vaguely be seen.

’Manual-operated mechas, without even a point on the integrated system, that’s really a bit backward.’

Gao Gong thought, his gaze landing on the core of the Divine Soldier Base, an artificial steel fortress, suppressed in the sea.

Gao Gong’s pupils were gradually feeling the pressure.

The more complex the structure of this reproduced ’virtual reality,’ the greater the pressure.

More importantly, Gao Gong felt a special force interfering with his vision.

’Turns out there really are ghosts.’

Ahead, Old Jin exchanged a glance with his two subordinates, a trace of cunning flashing in their eyes.

Everything he said was true. He was indeed a World War II veteran, and the place he was about to take this group of people to was indeed the core of the base.

But what he didn’t say was that some of the base core’s defense equipment had not malfunctioned and an alarm would be triggered once outsiders entered.

He had no intention of killing this group of people; after all, Old Jinya’s reputation was quite decent.

However, he was only responsible for leading the way.

Should any unexpected situations arise, of course, additional fees would be charged for the service.

There had to be an additional charge.

From the way these people easily paid before, they probably weren’t short on money. Perhaps after this job, Old Jinya could go to the Nightless City for some enjoyment, this kidney couldn’t be replaced for nothing.

”Here we are,” a sudden voice came from behind.

Old Jinya was startled and quickly said: ”Ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the logistics centers of the Divine Soldiers back in the day, the Mecha Room. All mechas damaged at the front lines would be hoisted here for repair. Don’t look down on it, it’s the most core place of this base.”

Among the many garbage hills, this one’s shape was the most unique, like a squeezed hot dog bun, with a large amount of rebar extruding like cream, vaguely revealing a passageway in the middle.

However, Gao Gong did not enter; instead, he looked at the other party with a half-smile, ”Since it is so important, the defense force must be quite strong as well, right?”

”Of course, but it’s been so many years, and nothing’s happened,” Old Jinya laughed sheepishly, ”Of course, you’re paying, whether you go in or not, it’s up to you.”

Gao Gong stared at the ”giant metal bun” not far away, activated his talent, Basic Mechanism Sense, with a thought.

Basic Mechanism Sense (Talent): A specialized perception of machinery, can sense the internal operation of machine systems, and can also be used for equipment manufacturing.

The pistol formed by the Reproductive Soldier Body went ’bang’ ’bang’ ’bang’ with three shots, and in the next moment, alarms blared wildly.

And in Gao Gong’s eyes, the white mist began to turn black, the ’ghosts’ had emerged.

One by one, discarded robots crawled out, some had only upper bodies left, some had tank-like lower bodies, others were decayed beyond recognition.

The number of these odd things was extremely large, even triggering a temporary mission.

[Mission: Machine’s Revenge Souls]

Difficulty: Difficult-

Mission Brief: The explosion of the ancient mechanism, is it really, as the legend says, revenge against carbon-based life?

Mission Objective: Find out the truth about machine revenge

Mission Reward: Experience +6500, Skill Point +1, Random Ancient Mechanism Blueprint

All of a sudden, the mountains and fields were filled with ancient robots.

”Boss Jin, look quickly!” A subordinate hurriedly shouted, eyes filled with fear, it wasn’t like this before.

Old Jinya was also taken aback, snapped back to reality by the shouting and quickly said, ”Hey, guest, with such an unexpected situation, obviously, the price needs to be increased!”

”Oh? You can handle it?”

”Of course, I want five, no, ten thousand Mechanical Coins!”

”Alright, as long as you can make these machine monsters retreat.”

Old Jinya gave a look, arranging someone to collect the money, while also pulling out a mechanical badge, inserting it into a slot on his waist, a mechanical voice sounded.

’Divine Soldier Base Third-Class Soldier Verification Passed’

’Divine Soldier Base Third-Class Soldier Verification Passed’

However, these ancient robots did not retreat as they usually would, directly dropping their guard.

Instead, they charged even faster.

”Hey hey, I’m one of your comrades, I offer incense for you during every festival!”

Old Jinya finally couldn’t hold back, pulled out two pistols, and fired at the ancient robots rushing towards him.

Bullets hit two ancient robots, causing one to sway back, while another mechanical monster seized the opportunity to pounce forward.

This ancient robot somewhat resembled a mechanical tiger missing three legs, with a box-shaped jet propulsion device on its last leg. Its massive figure leaped up with the sound of rapid airflow.

Old Jinya immediately found himself in a life-or-death crisis.

Gao Gong saw this and prepared to help the other party, but his action paused as he exclaimed lightly.

Just as the other party’s claw was about to tear down, Old Jinya’s body suddenly curled into a ball. His waist snapped, launching the sphere into the air. A hand shot out like lightning, precisely striking the opponent’s engine, twisting it lightly, creating an appropriate distortion in the entire power system.

The Tiger-style robot ’bang’, shifted three meters sideways in the air, crashing heavily against a nearby steel bar, the bar piercing through the opponent’s engine, with blue smoke billowing from inside.

The entire process flowed smoothly, like some kind of special dance.

To be more accurate, like kung fu.

However, Gao Gong’s eyes brightened.

Mecha Technique!

Mecha Technique, a high-level operation skill that can exert 200% of the power of the human body plugin, transplanted body, mechanical body.

This thing is rare even within the Mechanical Civilization because performing Mecha Technique requires extremely high talent. In terms of mechanism sense, at least ’Advanced Mechanism Sense’ is necessary.

Unfortunately, Old Jinya could only perform this one move, after which he felt exhausted, called his subordinates to run immediately, not even planning to collect the money.

Gao Gong shook his head. Except for him, everyone present was logistics staff, so he had naturally prepared in advance.

The next moment, a giant entity descended from the Level 8 Flying Device in stealth mode, landed with a loud bang, smashing out a giant pit.

In the thick smoke, a gigantic semi-mechanical leopard raised its head and roared, substantial sound waves rising wave after wave, causing each mechanical monster it passed to explode.

Name: Human-headed Leopard Gilbert

Radiation Level: A-

Unlike the previously sleek and noble white leopard resembling a beast aristocrat, now it’s more ferocious, meters-long mechanical steel claws, crimson military electronic eyes, a row of advanced grenade launchers installed on its back, with an energy cannon in the center.

Now, it has transformed from a ’Genetic Ornamental Beast’ into a ’Beast Hero’.

This entity rampaging through the ancient robot army brought terrifying destruction, every mechanical body plugin was made from top-grade materials, even a simple collision would only annihilate the opponent.

Its limbs were equipped not with ordinary jet propulsion but with carrier-based engines, meaning its speed starting was at the speed of sound. The sound burst echoed repeatedly, within a minute, hundred ancient robots exploded, scattering parts everywhere.

Dean Zhao, and the Imperial workers B, D, G, along with others, were all dumbfounded by this impactful scene.

This was pure mechanical violence display.

Gao Gong nodded in satisfaction, suddenly raising his voice.

”Human-headed Leopard, transform!”
