Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 145: Chapter 116: The Power Generation Problem on the Ranch

Early the next morning, Naoki got up early, quickly solved breakfast, and then began to immerse himself in the day’s work.

He fed the chickens and picked up the eggs they laid, poured the new batch of Grassy Seed into Gogoat’s feed trough, stored the milk Miltank provided in barrels, collected the Rock Salt produced by Naclis, and packed the honey Combees gathered yesterday into glass jars.

Finally, he kept part of these for himself and placed the rest next to the shipping box, waiting for Zack to come and collect them in the afternoon.

After completing all these tasks, Dragonite by the field had also finished watering.

The leftover water droplets in the air, under the sunlight, formed a curved rainbow.

Dragonite was enjoying the rainbow alongside Butterfree, looking very happy.

”Phew...”

Naoki took a deep breath, patted the dust off his hands, and headed towards the back, thinking about Glaceon’s situation.

As he pushed open the wooden door, a chill immediately rushed towards him.

Naoki couldn’t help but shiver, and as he gazed inside, he saw that this cave had completely transformed, clearly remodeled by Glaceon.

The originally soft soil was covered by a smooth ice layer; some unmelted fine snow piled in the corners, and the cave walls were also encased in ice.

Walking in, Naoki felt as if he’d entered an Eskimo ice house.

In the center of the ice cave, the Ice Stone was placed, and Glaceon was still lying on it, seemingly treating the cold stone as its bed.

”Looks like you’ve adapted already!” Naoki praised, ”This place is truly beautiful, you’re amazing!”

Being praised for the first time, Glaceon felt a bit shy inside but did not express it outwardly, simply lowering its head slightly and averting its gaze.

It’s nothing, Glaceon thought.

Naoki looked down at the plate on the ice surface, the one he had brought over yesterday, but now it was empty.

He went forward and picked up the plate, asking, ”Did you like yesterday’s food?”

Glaceon hesitated a bit and then nodded lightly, ”Vu...”

Then, what kind of help could it provide?

Just like what Alcremie said last night, Naoki provided them with food, and they would help Naoki in return.

Naoki did not know what Glaceon was thinking. He collected the plate and then turned back to the kitchen, taking out new food from the fridge to give to Glaceon.

Naoki: ”Eat up! After eating, you can stroll outside. I still have work to do! It’s safe here; no Pokemon will attack recklessly.”

”If you have any problems, you can find Alcremie or Koraidon. You should remember Koraidon, right? The red Pokemon you saw yesterday.”

Glaceon nodded, ”Vu.”

Seeing this, Naoki smiled and bid farewell to Glaceon.

As soon as he stepped outside, he saw a very eager Pawmi.

”Wait a moment.” Naoki said to it.

He returned the plate to the kitchen and then took Pawmi to the utility room.

The generator sat quietly against the wall.

In the Pokemon World, Pokemon is a very important resource.

Different types of Pokemon can bring various changes to human life.

Fire Type Pokemon can start fires, Water Type Pokemon can water, Grass Type Pokemon can look after plants.

And Electric Type Pokemon can provide electricity for humans.

For example, an Electivire can provide all the electricity needed by a large city’s buildings for a year.

Because of this, Pokemon like Magneton and Electivire are often kept in power plants, working alongside humans.

Some scientists have even developed various machines adapted to the power generation of different Electric Type Pokemon, like a hamster wheel generator for Pikachu.

Of course, those that consume the Pokemon’s stamina are in the minority.

Most generators are of the energy storage type, where you have the Electric Type Pokemon input enough electricity into it beforehand. This way, when there’s a power outage, you can start it to power homes.

The generator Keri sold was also like this; it was a machine with a silver casing, and a metal ring on top designed to absorb electricity.

According to the manual, you only need to place an Electric Type Pokemon in there and have it use its Electric Type move; the electricity it releases will be automatically absorbed.

Thinking of this, Naoki picked up Pawmi and said to it, ”I need a little bit of your electricity.”

Electricity? As an Electric Type Pokemon, Pawmi naturally could release electricity, an ease to it.

”Bamo~” Pawmi nodded happily, indicating its willingness!

”Good child.” Naoki patted its head, then placed it on the metal ring, ”Don’t be nervous, just use your best Electric Type move now!”

”Bamo~”

Pawmi responded joyfully, then stood up and rubbed its developing electric pouches on its cheeks with its paw.

Gradually, small currents were generated through the friction.

”Ba—mo!”

Soon, accompanied by Pawmi’s enthusiastic cry, a stream of electricity was released from its paw.

The generator detected the electricity and started operating automatically, absorbing Pawmi’s move through the metal ring.

The move seemed to be the Electric Type ”Thunder Shock”, not very powerful but the best move Pawmi currently had.

Naoki’s mind recalled the game’s level for Pawmi to learn Thunder Shock, lv3.

This indicated that Pawmi was indeed quite weak, even smaller than a Cyclizar.

It had been brought by a Bombirdier without fully mastering the skills for foraging, far from its parents, alone on the ranch.

Soon, all the Thunder Shock was absorbed.

Naoki glanced at the generator’s energy storage bar, noticing it hadn’t even reached 1%.

”Looks like we need to put Pawmi’s development plan on the agenda.” he thought.

Looking at the energy storage bar on the machine, Naoki remembered Keri mentioning that if the generator was full, it could supply the ranch’s electricity for half a year.

Currently, the ranch’s electricity comes from a nearby power plant.

Today was just a test of the generator’s function, which appeared to work.

Naoki now had a rough idea, and at that moment, little Pawmi sat in the machine with a sad face.

It felt sorry for only being able to provide such a weak amount of electricity.

Naoki wasn’t too concerned and comforted it, ”It’s alright, I’ll make some new dishes to boost your strength later.”

The best would be to make dishes like Grassy Seed, which could enhance Electric Type energy.

But ingredients related to lightning weren’t easy to find.

Using a Thunder Stone might cause Pawmi’s teeth to chip due to its hardness.

Hmm, it’s indeed a challenging task.
