Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 124: Chapter 102: Flower Field

The ”Fearow” carrying Teddiursa finally disappeared into the vast blue sky.

Naoki stood in the farm, gazing in the direction they left, feeling a sense of melancholy in his heart.

Who would have thought, after crossing into the Pokemon World, he didn’t go on a journey himself, instead sending his Pokemon off on their travels.

This feeling... it’s strange.

Teddiursa has left, but their life must go on.

Naoki took a deep breath and went home to start cleaning the cooking utensils he had just used.

Unknowingly, time had marched into late February.

The crops in the fields were almost ready for harvest again.

Time to get busy!

Early the next morning, Naoki planned to harvest this batch of ripe crops.

When he arrived at the farmland, he was pleasantly surprised to find the flowers he had planted were in bloom.

A variety of flowers mixed together, colorful and vibrant, filled the entire farm with a delicate floral fragrance.

The flowers had finally bloomed, and the Pokemon living on the farm were all very happy.

Alcremie, Smoliv, Nacli, and Pawmi were all attracted over.

The small Alcremie played hide and seek with the little Nacli among the tall flowers.

Smoliv found a comfortable shady spot to linger.

Pawmi excitedly ran to a flower, gently sniffing its fragrance.

Perhaps accidentally inhaling some pollen into its nostrils, it sneezed several times consecutively.

As for which Pokemon were the happiest, it had to be the Combee and Butterfree.

Early in the morning, the diligent Combee happily gathered here, flying back and forth over the blooming flower fields, collecting nectar.

Butterfree gently flapped its wings, pausing among the flowers.

Naoki, wearing a straw hat, watched this scene, a smile involuntarily spreading across his face.

Images of these two types of Pokemon’s ecological habits flashed in his mind.

In the wild, when a wild Butterfree encounters wild Combee, they would often fight over nectar.

But on this farm, Butterfree and Combee did not do so; instead, they displayed harmony and mutual understanding.

”You guys have fun here; I need to go to work now.”

Naoki said to the Pokemon, then went to the farmland area to start the harvest of this round of crops.

Koraidon and Cyclizar also came to help, placing the harvested tomatoes, cucumbers, and turnips into the large baskets Naoki had prepared in advance.

Worried that he couldn’t handle it alone, Naoki never significantly expanded the scale of his planting, because plowing, planting, fertilizing, pest control, and weeding all needed his personal attention.

He also didn’t raise too many Pokemon because he was only one person.

If he raised too many, he would be overwhelmed, neglecting some Pokemon, making them unhappy, and resulting in a decrease in the quality of their products, having the opposite effect.

But even so, the work in the field kept them busy for several hours.

Approaching noon, the large baskets were all filled, and Naoki was sweating profusely from exhaustion.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead, looking at those fruits and vegetables.

Truth be told, the profits from agriculture were far less than those from animal husbandry.

But leaving such a large piece of land unplanted would be too wasteful, and the grown crops could be kept for himself and his Pokemon to eat aside from selling.

The only drawback is that these seasonal vegetables can’t be stored for long periods.

”It would be great to have an ice cellar,” Naoki thought.

Crops like potatoes and turnips can be stored for a long, long time if placed in a low-temperature environment.

But building an ice cellar requires money and also needs specialized cooling facilities.

These large cooling facilities consume a lot of electricity, and if installed, he would probably have to pay quite a bit of electricity bill every month.

So, is there another way?

The first thing that came to Naoki’s mind was Ice Type Pokemon.

Ordinary Ice Type Pokemon wouldn’t do; it had to be the kind that liked to live in ice caves.

Like Cryogonal, Avalugg, or Glaceon.

An ice cellar could serve as a home for them, or be used to store food, leveraging the power of Pokemon, saving effort and money.

Among these, Glaceon was the one Naoki most wanted to capture.

Because he had a dream: that one day in the future, he would collect all Eevee evolutions.

Glaceon living in the ice cellar, Leafeon taking care of crops, Flareon providing warmth in winter, Jolteon supplying electricity, and Vaporeon occasionally watering with Dragonite.

Just thinking about it, the Eevee family is simply versatile!

In addition to these, it would be necessary to capture a Pokemon capable of cultivating the land.

Looking at the farmland and crops in front of him, Naoki was lost in thought.

Regarding farming, he suddenly thought of a Pokemon.

That was Calyrex.

Calyrex, the legendary king who once ruled ancient Galar, is said to possess great wisdom, able to view all things past, present, and future.

The reason he thought of it was because this Legendary Pokemon is also known as The King of Bountiful Harvests.

It has the ability to heal spirits and make plants sprout. It is said that when it waves its right hand, flowers bloom, and green grass thrives; when it waves its left hand, fields become fertile, and crops bountiful.

That’s practically the god of agriculture!

If he could entice it to the farm, in a certain sense, it would be a perfect match for the job.

Thinking of this, Naoki couldn’t help but feel he was going too far.

Not long ago, he was just contemplating stealing its horse, and now he wanted to bring the king itself here.

”Sinful, sinful, Calyrex-sama, please bless my farm with bountiful harvests every year!”

Naoki silently prayed in his heart, even pondering if he should build a shrine for Calyrex.

Because according to the settings, Calyrex indeed gets things done.

The only pity is, it’s unclear whether Calyrex in the Galar Region can sense the faith coming from the Paldea Region.

————

Meanwhile, at the southernmost tip of the distant Galar region, on a snowfield perpetually blanketed by snowflakes.

A small and slender Pokemon, yet always elegant and dignified in demeanor, weakly opened its eyes.

Its gaze penetrated through distant time and space, seeing a human praying to it.

Feeling that slight trace of faith emanating from the other person, this Pokemon slightly regained some of its spirit.

If Naoki were here, he would immediately recognize this Pokemon as the legendary King of Bountiful Harvests, Calyrex.

It had the special ability to gain strength by absorbing faith.

But in recent years, the faith provided by the people of the Galar Region had dwindled.

The people of the New Era no longer believed in the King of Bountiful Harvests, causing its power to wane, and its body to weaken.

Feeling the faint trace of faith, Calyrex murmured softly:

”Who would have thought, in this era there would still be humans who trust in me...”
