Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 104: Chapter 84: Dragonite: A Female Dragonite Would Only Slow Down My Sword Draw!

Black Rayquaza, one of the Legendary Pokemon that appeared in the movie ”Hoopa and the Clash of Ages”.

In that movie, it even created a never-before-seen feat of 1v7, showcasing strength far superior to ordinary Rayquaza.

No one expected such a Pokemon to appear in the Paldea Region.

However, Naoki could not confirm if this Rayquaza was the same one from the Hoopa movie.

Nevertheless, this news was shocking enough.

According to Dragonite’s description, the disappearance of that typhoon was closely related to this Rayquaza.

This reminded Naoki of Rayquaza’s ability—Air Lock.

When Rayquaza appears, it can negate all weather effects.

Just by using this ability, it can disperse a terrible typhoon; such power truly lives up to the name of a Legendary Pokemon!

This is the Dragon of the Sky!

In Naoki’s mind, the image of the Lucky Pudding he fed Dragonite before setting off yesterday emerged, and he guessed:

”So, it must have been the Lucky Pudding that Dragonite ate that brought it the good fortune of encountering Rayquaza in the sky.”

”And after observing Rayquaza’s majestic posture, Dragonite smoothly grasped Dragon Dance.”

Thinking about this, Naoki couldn’t help but feel a bit regretful.

If only he had gone together yesterday!

He had never seen a Rayquaza in real life, let alone a Shiny one. Its rarity was indescribable—a common person might not see a Rayquaza even once in their lifetime.

Unfortunately, he missed it.

Naoki looked visibly heartbroken.

Seeing his expression, Dragonite let out a puzzled growl: ”Roar?”

”Dragonite!” Naoki remembered to encourage Dragonite: ”Remember the appearance of that Pokemon, set it as your goal, and keep striving forward!”

Hearing this, Dragonite’s face filled with determination: ”Roar!”

Perhaps someday in the future, could it possess the same power as that Pokemon and dispel a typhoon with a single move?

In Dragonite’s mind appeared the image of it becoming the most impressive Dragonite, receiving shocked and admiring looks from other Dragonite upon returning to Dragonite Island.

Just thinking about it made the dragon excited.

And at that moment, Dragonite suddenly realized something.

It seemed like a long time had passed since it last thought about the Dragonite it liked.

Life at the ranch had been busy and fulfilling; during this time, it not only became stronger, learned many moves, but also made many new friends.

Koraidon, Cyclizar, Alcremie, Butterfree...

In comparison, Dragonite suddenly found that the other Dragonite wasn’t as appealing to it anymore.

Now, it had found a new life goal.

It only wanted to continue cultivating, becoming like that mysterious Pokemon.

One day, it would let the whole world be enveloped in its rain and hurricanes!

With its heart full of determination, Dragonite turned around, flew to an open area in the ranch, and started practicing its newly learned moves.

Naoki looked at Dragonite, suddenly filled with energy, with a head full of question marks.

What’s going on?

This time, he hadn’t even done any psychology tricks, so why did Dragonite go off to train by itself?

Naoki stood by, watching Dragonite’s movements.

It was practicing Hurricane.

The Hurricane in reality was somewhat different from in the games; at first glance, the Hurricane unleashed by Dragonite was a large-area AOE move.

Its strike area was very expansive, and if it were on a regular battlefield, it would be difficult for the opponent’s Pokemon to dodge.

Dragonite practiced tirelessly.

Naoki watched for a while; images of all the moves this Dragonite could use flashed in his mind, and he suddenly thought of a very interesting idea.

Rain Dance, Thunder, Hurricane.

Combine the three moves to create extreme stormy conditions, using this weather to disrupt the opponent.

Pokemon like Dragonite are naturally able to move freely in storms, so it can ignore the effects of the storm.

If the opponent hasn’t undergone special environmental training, they might be thrown into chaos.

At this point, hit them with Thunder for a fatal blow.

Theoretically, this idea is completely possible.

However, Dragonite hasn’t learned Thunder yet; it can only use Rain Dance and Hurricane.

But even so, it’s enough!

Thinking of this, Naoki immediately shared his entire idea with Dragonite.

After hearing it, Dragonite first looked puzzled, then its eyes lit up, successfully catching Naoki’s meaning.

”Roar!”

”Want to try?” Naoki said.

Dragonite nodded.

Then, it used Rain Dance.

Soon, clouds gathered from all directions, floating above Dragonite, and it started to rain.

”Roar?” Is this it?

Dragonite turned to look at Naoki.

Naoki looked up at the sky and shook his head: ”No, the scale of this rain is too small.” It didn’t reach the level of a downpour at all.

Upon hearing this, Dragonite wasn’t discouraged; it combined the experience it gained from using Rain Dance to water plants during this time, then focused and concentrated.

The color of the clouds in the sky deepened, and the original drizzle began to become rapid, with slightly larger raindrops.

But it still didn’t reach the level of a ”downpour”.

Dragonite looked at Naoki, who shook his head.

Seeing this, Dragonite let out a soft sigh, feeling a bit discouraged, but quickly picked itself up again.

Since it couldn’t do it now, it would continue to cultivate ”Rain Dance”!

First, set a small goal of using Rain Dance ten thousand times!

Through intensive practice, increase the proficiency of this move!

At that moment, Dragonite suddenly remembered today’s fields hadn’t been watered yet.

It flew to the front of the fields, ready to make it rain.

Seeing this, Naoki hurriedly called out to stop: ”No, no, no! It rained last night already, there’s no need for more irrigation now, if you water it again the crops will drown!”

”Roar...”

Hearing this, Dragonite looked at the field in front of it, suddenly feeling that the field was too small, not enough for it to practice Rain Dance.

If only Naoki could plant more crops.

Dragonite expressed regret about the field being too small and hoped Naoki could expand it, so it could practice Rain Dance more times.

Naoki: ”...”

He couldn’t help but find it a bit funny and exasperating.

Truly a simple-minded, unyielding Dragonite, Naoki thought.

Silly yet adorable!

He reached out, patted Dragonite’s shoulder, and told it: ”Things like this can’t be rushed; it’s not a goal that can be achieved overnight. Don’t worry, take your time! You have a long time to practice; you need to have enough patience.”

The lifespan of Dragon Type Pokemon is famously long; living a few hundred to a thousand years shouldn’t be a problem.

After all, in the anime, there was a Dragonite that lived a long time, seeing off several generations of Trainers.

It resided in Blackthorn City’s Dragon’s Holy Sanctuary in the Johto Region, belonging to the Gym Leader’s Pokemon from a few generations ago.

The Gym Leader of that time devoted his life to protecting the Dragon’s Holy Sanctuary, and after he passed, that Dragonite inherited his will, continuously safeguarding the Dragon’s Holy Sanctuary, protecting the place.
