Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 115: Chapter 93: Spring Cattle and Sheep Competition

After a series of tests and evaluations, Zack finally set a high price of 600 League coins for the MooMoo Milk.

Reaching out to take the stack of money Zack handed over, Naoki felt very satisfied.

After completing the transaction, Zack drove away from the ranch in his large truck.

Naoki looked at the distant sunset and the gradually darkening sky, and couldn’t help but stretch leisurely, flexing his muscles.

It’s getting late, time to prepare dinner for everyone!

The sky gradually darkened, and tired birds returned to their nests.

Shrouded in the sunset, Porto Marinada Town gave off an increasingly serene and peaceful feeling.

After leaving Naoki Ranch, Muping arrived at Porto Marinada Town.

Tonight, he planned to rest at the Pokemon Center in this town.

Using the video phone inside the Pokemon Center, Muping contacted his teacher to report on what he encountered today.

As the video call connected, a young woman with glasses, dark skin, and long purple hair appeared on the screen.

This was Teacher Raifort from Orange Academy, who also served as the freshman guide for this year.

”Good evening, Teacher Raifort!” Muping greeted with a big smile on his face.

The young woman named Raifort adjusted her glasses with her hand, looking at the boy on the other side of the screen, with the Fuecoco and Fletchling on his shoulders.

”It seems you’ve successfully taken your first step as a trainer. Congratulations, Muping.”

Muping scratched the back of his head, feeling a bit shy, then recounted his adventure of chasing and capturing Fletchling today.

At the end, he hesitated for a moment and asked, ”Well... Teacher Raifort, have you ever seen a glowing Skiddo?”

Raifort: ”?”

Muping: ”Today I met a very mysterious person who helped me capture Fletchling. It was a rancher, and his ranch is home to many...”

Muping paused, seemingly searching for the right adjectives: ”many peculiar Pokemon.”

Hearing this, Raifort was intrigued: ”Oh?”

Muping: ”A glowing green Skiddo, a Dragonite using Rain Dance to water crops, and a Pokemon I’ve never seen before, not even recorded in the Pokedex.”

He recounted, word for word, the encounters at the ranch today.

Initially, Raifort seemed unimpressed: ”Some Pokemon do emit light when they evolve, indicating that the trainer has nurtured them to their limits.”

”Although Dragonite is quite rare, it’s not impossible for it to help water the crops.”

But as she listened to Muping describe the unseen Pokemon, she couldn’t help but show a curious expression.

”A skeleton similar to Cyclizar, with a red body, looking very strong... Are you sure you didn’t see it wrong?”

Muping quickly replied, ”I assure you, I didn’t see it wrong!”

”Oh ho, it seems you’ve encountered something quite interesting! Truly enigmatic...”

This description sounded a bit like an ancient Pokemon recorded in old exploration notes, one that could split the earth with a punch, known as the Winged Monarch.

But Raifort was also uncertain.

After pondering for a moment, she said to this freshman, ”An idea just crossed my mind, let’s call it a day here.”

She planned to check some materials.

Muping nodded repeatedly, ”Oh oh, okay!”

Raifort put aside her investigation on the Treasures of Ruin and left the office, heading to the academy library.

There, a vast collection of ancient books was housed, including the Book of Scarlet and Violet written by the ancient explorer Heath.

”Mr. Naoki, you have a letter!”

This morning, Naoki was in the Pokemon House guiding Miltank to use the automatic milking machine when he suddenly heard the voice of the mailman, Allen, from outside.

He let Miltank stop, stepped out of the Pokemon House, and received the letter from Allen.

Allen’s face lit up with a bright smile: ”It’s sent by Mayor Thomas.”

Mayor Thomas?

Curious, Naoki opened the envelope.

[To Naoki:

How have you been lately? Is everything going well at the ranch? I heard from Zack that you’ve started raising Miltank; that’s quite unexpected! If your grandfather knew you were working so hard to manage the ranch, he would be so proud.

Haha, by the way, you must have many cow and sheep Pokemon at your ranch by now?

The town will hold a Spring Cattle and Sheep Contest in a few days; ranches from nearby will participate, bringing their cow and sheep Pokemon for evaluation.

The town’s Pokemon Breeders will serve as judges, assessing the fur and spirit of each Pokemon to determine which is best cared for.

The town has prepared a mysterious prize for the ranch that wins first place!

If you plan to participate, please come to the Festival Plaza at nine in the morning on February 24th. I’m looking forward to seeing you there.

Spring Cattle and Sheep Contest?

Naoki was somewhat interested.

Allen, who seemed to know about this already, specifically asked, ”Mr. Naoki, do you plan to participate? Oh? The Skiddos have already evolved!”

”Yes, they evolved just a few days ago.” Naoki smiled and asked, ”Have you participated in these contests before?”

Allen nodded, ”Of course! Many people in town join in! Last year’s winner was the Mareep from Light Green Ranch, and I heard this year the competition will be even more intense! Will you participate?”

Upon hearing this, Naoki turned to look at the three lazy Gogoat.

In his mind, the scene of the Gogoat evolving replayed, he coughed lightly and replied, ”I probably will!”

”Then I’ll vote for you along with everyone else!” Allen said with a bright smile.

After delivering the letter, Allen prepared to leave.

But Naoki called out to him, asking, ”I’m not too familiar since I’ve just arrived, besides the cattle and sheep competition, what other festivals are there in town?”

”Festivals... there are plenty!”

Allen animatedly introduced:

”The Spring Race at the end of March, on that day, people will ride their Horse-type Pokemon to participate in races, like Rapidash, Zebstrika, Mudsdale, and even passing trainers can participate!”

”Then there’s the summer fireworks festival, fishing contest, the autumn harvest day, food festival, and the winter Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve. All in all, they’re very lively festivals! People and Pokemon in town gather to celebrate.”
