Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 122: Chapter 100: Preparations Before Departure

Moments later, those images vanished.

Naoki’s consciousness returned to reality, and he looked at the Teddiursa and Mew in front of him with a peculiar expression.

After pondering for a long time, Naoki asked, ”So, you want to travel outside with Mew?”

”Yippee!”

Seeing Naoki finally understand, Teddiursa couldn’t help but exclaim joyfully.

What a hero! He made Naoki understand its thoughts instantly, it thought.

Naoki looked at Teddiursa’s happy face and didn’t know what to say for a moment.

Teddiursa ate the Lucky Pudding, and thanks to its effects, it luckily encountered the traveling Legendary Pokemon Mew in the city.

The two Pokemon became good friends as a result.

At least for now, it seems that way.

Thinking this, Naoki gazed at the Mew levitating in mid-air.

In reality, Mew was adorably cute, with soft light pink fur all over its body, clean blue eyes, big and moist. A slender tail gently swayed behind it, with two small paws naturally hanging down.

Sensing Naoki’s gaze, Mew tilted its head: ”miu?”

Whoa!

For an instant, Naoki felt something hit him in his heart.

So cute!

Can he go and touch it?

But what if Mew thinks he’s a creep?

After all, it’s their first meeting, and it wouldn’t be good to scare Mew away.

Thinking about sustainable development, Naoki coughed twice, restrained his itch to move, shifted his focus away from Mew, and resumed talking about serious matters.

”Have you decided where you want to travel?”

”Yippee...”

Hearing these words, Teddiursa hesitated.

About this matter, it hadn’t thought it through.

It didn’t know what the world outside was like; it only knew it was a vast place, with all kinds of people and things.

Seeing this, Naoki silently thought to himself, as expected.

Compared to humans, it’s very dangerous for Pokemon to travel alone.

Especially for weak Pokemon, unlike Mew, Teddiursa is just a regular Pokemon, easily encountering various dangers outside.

For example, being attacked by wild Pokemon, getting lost and never finding the way back, or being sick without anyone to take care of it while unconscious.

With Teddiursa’s departure, he may never have the chance to see it again.

Naoki was inclined to persuade.

Why leave? Isn’t life here good enough? With endless honey to eat, there are no dangerous Pokemon.

But then he thought, is this really the life Teddiursa wants?

Just like himself, once giving up on chasing dreams to become a corporate drone.

Going outside to see the world is Teddiursa’s dream.

Naoki fell silent for a moment, then looked at Teddiursa’s apprehensive appearance, sighed, and asked Mew beside him:

”Mew, if Teddiursa travels with you, can you take good care of it?”

”miu!”

Mew lightly nodded.

Of course! Taking care of like-minded companions is a skill a qualified hero must master!

”Alright.” Naoki nodded: ”I’ll leave Teddiursa in your care.”

Hearing this, Teddiursa waited excitedly, showing a delighted expression.

”Yippee!”

Mew also showed a childlike side, happily giving high fives with Teddiursa: ”miu!”

From today onwards, it has a companion!

Seeing their appearance, Naoki helplessly shook his head, thought for a while, and told them: ”But I hope you can leave after a few days.”

Before Teddiursa departs, he needs to prepare some food for it so it has strength when it encounters challenges outside.

Additionally, he must find a way for Teddiursa to locate the way back.

Once it has traveled enough, it can return here.

Mew and Teddiursa agreed.

After Naoki finished his daily ranch work, he went to the town.

He found a shop that makes accessories and spent a hefty sum to rush a custom-made wristband for Teddiursa that is waterproof, electric-proof, and heat-resistant.

After it was made, Naoki went to the Porto Marinada Market to buy an abundance of ingredients.

When he rode Cyclizar back home, Teddiursa was sitting on the roof with Mew playing together.

Naoki called Teddiursa down and put the wristband on its arm.

This wristband was specially designed with a hidden space inside.

Naoki placed a note and several large denomination League coins there.

The note indicates Teddiursa’s family address, which is the ranch’s location.

Naoki told Teddiursa that if it couldn’t find its way back, it should go to a human city and find Miss Jenny or Miss Joy, show them the note, and let them help buy a ticket or boat ticket to send Teddiursa back.

Anyway, Miss Joy and Miss Jenny look identical worldwide.

After thinking a bit, Naoki also took Teddiursa to the town to recognize Miss Joy and Miss Jenny.

Looking at the wristband on its arm, Teddiursa was very touched.

Naoki smiled, patting its head, and once everything was prepared, he took it back to the ranch.

Sending a group of Pokemon outside to play, Naoki stood in the kitchen, quite touched as he gazed at the large amount of ingredients laid out before him.

”Hope today I can make super powerful food!” Naoki silently wished in his heart.

He recalled the Honey Pudding and Honey Bun he had made before; the ingredients enhancing Teddiursa seemed inseparable from honey.

Thus, in the upcoming days of cooking experiments, Naoki planned to start with honey.

With a glance at Teddiursa waiting obediently beside him, Naoki turned around, planning to take out a few Lucky Puddings from the fridge for it to eat.

But when he opened the fridge, he found the Lucky Pudding was already eaten up.

Naoki: ”...”

Oh well, since he has no idea now, he might as well make some Lucky Pudding for Teddiursa to eat.

After all, it won’t be able to eat any for a long time afterward.

And just then, Naoki suddenly thought there were still some Black Truffles at home.

Now here’s the question: if he adds high-grade enhanced ingredient Black Truffle into Lucky Pudding, could he make a permanently luck-enhancing dish?

Without hesitation, Naoki began attempting immediately.

He took out the last small piece of Black Truffle, ground it into powder, and mixed it into the prepared pudding liquid, then poured it into a container and put it in the fridge to chill.

After patiently waiting for a while, Naoki couldn’t wait to take out the batch of pudding that had Black Truffle added.

Sure enough, the information about the dish changed.

[Black Truffle Caramel Honey Pudding (A+): A uniquely flavored dessert made with Black Truffle, Light Cream, MooMoo Fresh Milk, and Honey.

Cooking Effect: Extreme Luck. After consumption, humans experience a significant temporary boost to luck; for Pokemon, the chance of picking up rare items during the journey increases.

Evaluation: A delicious dessert that makes people feel happy after eating it, more likely to bring good fortune.]

”Extreme Luck?” Looking at the expected cooking effect, Naoki slightly frowned: ”It just further enhances luck, but the duration doesn’t seem to change, what a pity.”

He divided the batch of pudding between Teddiursa and Mew, then looked at the remaining Gelatin Powder and sticky honey, suddenly having a flash of inspiration in his mind, thinking of a new dessert!
