Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 123: Chapter 101: Slick as Oil! The Invincible Skill!

That’s honey gummies!

Gelatin powder has the function of providing a stable structure, so it is often used in the culinary industry to make foods like jelly, mousse, and cheese.

And gummies happen to be one of them.

Naoki recalled the method of making honey gummies and then started a new round of production.

First, mix the gelatin powder with water, then combine the honey and Nomel Berry juice, and heat it in a pot over medium-low heat until slightly warm.

Finally, pour the prepared gelatin powder into the pot, continuously stirring until completely melted, becoming clear and golden without a trace of impurity.

Seeing it was about ready, Naoki turned off the heat, let it cool slightly, and then filled it into molds provided as a gift with the refrigerator and started chilling.

While waiting, Naoki began making other honey treats.

However, the results were not very ideal.

[Honey Grilled Fish: Cooking Effect, Stamina Recovery (Large)]

[Honey Lemon Water: Cooking Effect, Revitalization, consuming it will relieve fatigue and restore energy.]

...

”None of these are quite right!”

Looking at these foods, Naoki couldn’t help but feel a bit frustrated.

At that moment, the scheduled alarm clock rang.

He turned around, opened the refrigerator, took the solidified honey gummies out of the molds, and as he looked down, the information about these square gummies surfaced in his mind.

[Honey Gummies (A): Made with honey and Nomel Berry, these gummies are tangy, sweet, and chewy, quite favored by some Pokemon.

Cooking Effect: Run Away, allows Pokemon to gain the skill: guaranteed escape, ignoring the opponent’s strength.

Evaluation: Don’t underestimate this small piece of gummy!]

Naoki: ”...”

Run Away? What a bizarre effect...

Naoki looked odd. He glanced at the Teddiursa enjoying the pudding nearby and thought, maybe this skill wouldn’t be of much use to him, but for Teddiursa, it might be different.

If it encounters a dangerous Pokemon outside and can’t win, it can choose to run away directly and be assured of escaping from danger.

Thinking this way, the effect of this honey gummy seems even more exaggerated than the previous honey bun.

If you delve deeper.

Pickup ability + Lucky Pudding + Honey Gummies, combined, might even allow Teddiursa to pluck some wool from Legendary Pokemon.

For example, sneaking a feather from Zapdos, then running away, leaving Zapdos furiously discharging there.

Thinking about it carefully, this is quite thrilling...

Naoki immediately fed a big piece to Teddiursa.

Then earnestly advised: ”I have one more thing to tell you, if you encounter danger outside, like a powerful Pokemon, don’t hesitate at that time, just turn around and run, remember?”

”Eem!”

In response, Teddiursa felt quite in agreement.

Looking at its expression, Naoki suddenly felt there was no need to remind this.

Because Teddiursa wasn’t the type of Pokemon to stubbornly lock horns with an opponent.

After all, when it came to the ranch to steal honey, it chose to flee immediately upon realizing how scary the place was.

Teddiursa’s nature was still that of a cunning little bear.

”...”

Alright, just pretend he said nothing.

Naoki turned around and continued researching new recipes.

Yet after researching for three consecutive days, he couldn’t come up with another recipe with magical effects.

The concocted dishes either restored stamina or energy, or even attracted attention, making Pokemon immersed in happiness and ignoring the outside world.

Time flew by, and soon it was the day for Teddiursa to leave.

That day, Naoki, along with Koraidon and other Pokemon, saw it off at the ranch’s entrance.

Teddiursa was full of reluctance.

”Eem...”

Naoki encouraged with a smile: ”Go ahead! If one day you don’t want to travel anymore, just come back to the ranch, I’ll make a sumptuous honey banquet waiting for you.”

”Eem...” Teddiursa wiped a tear and then nodded heavily.

Before leaving, Teddiursa expressed a wish to have another piece of pudding.

Seeing this, Naoki turned back to the kitchen to make it for him.

The previous batch had long been devoured by Teddiursa and Mew.

For a short while, he wouldn’t be able to see Teddiursa.

Naoki wished for Teddiursa to have a safe and smooth journey, to fulfill its dreams.

Life’s road keeps extending, and Teddiursa, along with Mew, would embark on a new life.

With this sincere wish, Naoki made the last piece of pudding for Teddiursa.

Forty minutes later, this pudding was freshly made.

Naoki took it out from the refrigerator, intending to hand it directly to Teddiursa, but upon seeing the pudding, he noticed a different effect from before.

[Lucky Pudding (S): Made with emotions of sincere wishing, using light cream, MooMoo Fresh Milk, and Honey.

Cooking Effect: Fortune Accompanies, when consumed by humans and Pokemon, luck permanently increases, and when given to Pokemon, the probability of picking rare items during their travels permanently increases.

Evaluation: A delicious dessert, consuming it can make one feel happy and tends to bring good luck.]

?!!

Naoki’s eyes widened, he couldn’t believe as he looked at this pudding.

Its effect changed from temporary to permanent!

What’s going on?! The making process and ingredients were exactly the same, why was there such a big difference in effect?

Could it be the mood during making that made the difference?

Naoki looked up and saw Teddiursa in front of him, eyes bright and expectant, waiting to eat the last piece of pudding before embarking on the journey.

He felt a slight hesitation within.

Because humans could also consume this pudding, and its effect would be permanent too.

But...

Looking at Teddiursa in front of him, Naoki took a deep breath and still chose to give the pudding to it.

”Eat it!”

Teddiursa happily took it, devoured the pudding in one bite, then reluctantly rushed into Naoki’s arms for a hug.

Naoki caught Teddiursa with outstretched arms, gently patting its back.

After a while, Teddiursa jumped down.

It went outside, waving to Naoki, and then boarded the Mew, transformed into a Fearow.

The ”Fearow” flapped its wings and flew high into the sky.

They kept flying and flying, filled with the desire to see this vast world, flying towards dreams and the distance.

Not sure how much time passed, a vast blue sea appeared ahead.

Beside the sea was a beautiful coastal city, with numerous cruise ships docked at the port.

Mew brought Teddiursa down onto one of the luxury cruise ships about to set sail.

A flash of light as the Fearow vanished, and in its place was a Mew.

Mew and Teddiursa floated above a secluded deck, joyfully overlooking the view ahead.

”Honk——!”

The melodic sound of a whistle echoed, the cruise ship below slowly started, heading towards the vast blue sea.

A human voice came from the ship’s loudspeakers:

”Attention all passengers, the Saint Ann is officially setting sail, the next stop will be Vermilion City in the Kanto Region!”
