Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 793: Chapter 596: Pulling Strings

The mentor assessment has concluded, and now follows a three-day rest period.

In three days, mentors will officially begin their lectures. It’s said that this series of lectures will last for two to three months.

Not only will personal mentors teach, but other mentors will offer lectures too, similar to university open courses, which anyone can attend, although each mentor will only give two or three open lectures.

The primary focus remains on a student’s own mentor’s teaching. Even so, this is enough to excite the students.

Where else could one listen to lectures from 37 powerhouses simultaneously, except through the ’King Becoming Plan’?

Despite being a rest period, the atmosphere in the camp is tense and restless.

The second phase of the King Becoming Plan is set to eliminate 641 people.

The students who are about to be eliminated have not left the camp; they are still unwilling to give up and are making a final effort, hoping that the Goddess of Fortune will smile upon them.

Having worked so hard to reach this point, no one wants to give up easily.

If you can apprentice under a mentor, you essentially have one foot into the King Realm.

The surprise from the banquet the night before has already spread among the students. Just one surprise was already enough to make even the Kings drool—the Origin Power.

Even if the students become Kings in the future, it would be difficult to obtain such a treasure.

Even if there are purchasing channels, they simply can’t afford it.

The King Becoming Plan is sponsored jointly by countries around the world, with quotas allocated based on contribution.

And these quotas can be bought.

Rare Treasures of Heaven and Earth, or a Demon Spirit containing a Divine Level Soul Skill, can be exchanged for a student quota.

The second phase has ended, but those precious resources haven’t been seen yet, and they are most likely to appear after the students apprentice under mentors.

This is also an important reason why everyone is desperate to stay.

Moreover, no one knows if there will be more surprises in the future.

The students are searching for their last hope, but the number of successes is very few.

Before the mentor assessment, students would choose partners, even as many as three to five, to ensure they become an apprentice and are not eliminated.

The stronger one’s ability, the more likely they are to have more partners.

Even students confident in their abilities who have no partners previously had backup help and wouldn’t easily change.

So, among the 555 helper quotas, there may be only a dozen or so yet to be determined.

Possibly even fewer.

Each quota is incredibly valuable.

Among them, the Avengers Alliance alone has three helper quotas.

And in the Avengers Alliance, ten people apprenticed, among whom seven apprenticed under Extraordinary Tutors.

Compared to the King’s Tutor, the helper quotas for the Extraordinary Tutor are naturally more valuable.

Over the past two days, more than a hundred students have visited the rooms of Lin Feng and others every day, saying all kinds of nice things and offering various conditions.

Various forces have also contacted Lin Feng and his group through different channels, hoping to secure a helper quota.

Some even reached out to Lin Feng’s grandfather and Old Ma.

Lin Feng found out about this news only during a phone call with his family.

”Mom, don’t bother to entertain them, and don’t worry about offending anyone; I’ll handle it from here.”

Lin Feng said to his mother on the other end of the phone.

”Understood. Your grandfather also wants me to encourage you, saying you’re the pride of the Lin Family. Haha, and Mom is proud of you too. But do take care of your safety. Safety first, eat your meals on time, and don’t stay up late; health is the most important. Everything else is secondary; there’s no need to worry about us, we’re all doing fine.”

Lin Feng listened to his mother’s voice, a smile on his lips.

”Okay, you all take care of your health too.”

After chatting for over half an hour, Lin Feng reluctantly hung up the phone.

Family calls varied in content.

Lele, as always, expressed blind admiration for his brother, talking about his own glory at school, where people brought him delicious food every day.

The eldest sister didn’t say much, mainly reminding him to take care of his health.

The mother advised on various life details as if he were still a child.

Even though he was already Ninth Grade and about to become a King.

As for Old Ma, he would chime in with a word or two during these conversations.

”How’s the family?”

Yang Ningbing asked from the side.

”They’re good. My mom still treats me like a kid, telling me to eat and sleep on time,” Lin Feng chuckled.

Yang Ningbing also smiled, ”You’re only 21, haven’t graduated from college yet, so you’re sort of half a kid.”

”In my family, if you’re not married, you’re still considered a kid. Even those who are married can get red envelopes like children!”

Yue Mingming joined the conversation.

Lin Feng smiled wryly.

Indeed!

He hadn’t graduated from college yet.

These past three years, he had been through so much that his mindset had aged.

Yun Kai listened to the three talking, a hint of envy in his eyes.

He had parents, siblings, and even over a hundred family members.

On the night after the mentor assessment, Yun Kai also received a phone call from his parents.

They expressed their concern for him, but for some reason, he didn’t feel much warmth, but rather a bit awkward, so after a few simple words, he hung up.

He originally yearned for such warmth, but perhaps it came too late; it had cooled.

”My family said someone offered ten billion New Coins to buy my helper quota,” Yang Ningbing said to Lin Feng.

”Wow, so much!”

Yu Qiao exclaimed, jumping up from the sofa with a look of regret.

If he’d known, he would’ve tried harder during the mentor assessment; if he could have successfully apprenticed, he would’ve earned that ten billion himself.

Then, he could’ve attended yesterday’s banquet, and who knows, he might’ve gotten an Origin Power.

Thinking this, Yu Qiao felt like he missed out on billions, feeling heartbroken.

”My grandpa also had people coming, saying we could set the conditions.”

Huang Tianze added.

”There are people trying to pull strings everywhere; a slip here could mean offending someone.”

Ye Qiu sighed helplessly, ”In the past two days, I’ve received five calls to buy quotas.”

Others shared similar experiences.

Among the seventeen members of the Avengers Alliance, except the Gongshan Siblings, everyone had people pulling strings to approach them.

”Let’s hold an auction. Our main goal is to become Kings, so let’s target Origin Power and let the highest bidder win.”

Lin Feng thought for a moment and said.

Every day, people were pulling strings to get to them, offering different conditions. An auction would ensure the highest bidder wins and nobody gets offended.

”That’s a great idea.”

Ye Xing said with a smile.

This time, most participants in the King Becoming Plan were Glory Professional Players, so he had just as many people contacting him as Lin Feng did.

”Will hosting an auction be too ostentatious? Do you think the mentors would mind?”

Yang Ningbing asked worriedly.

”Why would they mind?”

Lin Feng was unconcerned: ”The decision about helpers is made by the students, and the helpers didn’t participate in the assessment anyway. Besides, the mentors are too busy to bother with such trivial matters.”

Ready to act on his idea, Lin Feng looked at Yu Qiao: ”Go take a walk and inform the students that those interested in bidding for helper quotas can gather in the dining hall at six this evening.”

It was three in the afternoon, giving three hours for others to prepare.

According to the rules, the helper list had to be finalized by midnight.

Yu Qiao nodded and asked, ”Should I mention the Origin Power? Most students don’t have it.”

Lin Feng replied, ”Up to you, you can mention it or not. If there’s something even more precious than Origin Power, it works too.”

Yu Qiao nodded in response and left the room.

”Yu Qiao has been quite well-behaved lately.”

Watching Yu Qiao’s departing figure, Yun Tianqi said with a smile.

”I feel the same way.”

The usually gloomy Zhan Tianyu even chimed in.

”Any hanger-on daring to act up would get a beating! If he actually apprentices under Leng Feng, he wouldn’t be this humble, would he?”

Ye Xing laughed.

Maybe he realized he wasn’t a child of fate, or perhaps he was impressed by his teammates’ skills. Yu Qiao has indeed been much more subdued these days, not as audacious or punch-worthy.

”Regularly keeping someone in check is necessary, or they won’t listen.”

Lin Feng laughed too.

In the team, everyone got along well, and having someone who could be knocked around a bit was really quite necessary.
