Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 777: Chapter 583: Ranking_2

Dong Yunan felt only excitement, not a trace of objection.

”Brother Feng, according to the assessment rules, can we help? I wouldn’t want the mentor to get angry and have us all disqualified together.”

Dong Yunan expressed some concern.

”The mentor’s rules weren’t clearly stated, so I’m not sure if you can support. But don’t set up a barrier; that would be outright cheating. You can only heal; step in when Yang Ningbing signals that she can’t hold on. If the rules don’t allow it, no harm done.”

Lin Feng said, then turned his gaze to Yun Tianqi.

”For Miyamoto Tenshu’s assessment, you go yourself. If you fail, switch to the second mentor, Tang Rong. Both mentors suit you well. If you fail both, you’ll assist Ye Qiu, so the two of you can watch each other’s backs.”

”Okay.”

Yun Tianqi had no objections either.

Even if he failed to become a disciple, he had an alternative, eliminating the fear of disqualification, so there was not much pressure.

Becoming a disciple of Miyamoto Tenshu might be challenging, but he was confident about becoming Tang Rong’s disciple.

Lin Feng turned to Huang Tianze and said, ”I’ll try to become Alice’s disciple first, and if not, it’s your turn.”

”What do you mean?”

Huang Tianze was also puzzled.

If you can’t become her disciple, how could I?

Huang Tianze didn’t have a preferred mentor and never considered Alice, who is a Fire Mage and totally unrelated to him.

Besides, could he pass Alice’s demanding assessment?

”I’ll explain later, but if you try, becoming her disciple is pretty much a sure thing.”

Lin Feng said with a smile.

While everyone discussed mentor preferences, it was already the turn for the 35th mentor to introduce the assessment rules.

”Okay.”

Huang Tianze and Yun Tianqi exchanged a glance and didn’t ask further.

”Curtis’s assessment mainly tests Summoners, so Yue Mingming can handle it alone.”

”The team can’t offer much help with Gustav’s assessment either, so Ye Xing will go alone. If it doesn’t work, he can join with Ye Qiu.”

Lin Feng finished speaking, as it was already the last mentor’s turn.

The mentor wore a long black robe, with a large hood covering most of his face, making it hard to see his features. One could only tell from his figure that he was male.

The mentor had previously introduced himself.

His name was Gui Ling, a Hua Country native, possessing Upper Rank Spirit King powers, and the Secret Skill he displayed was Ghost Shadow. It’s a body technique Soul Skill, moving like a ghost; the speed wasn’t fast, but it was hard to judge his position.

Compared to other mentors, Gui Ling didn’t stand out much and wasn’t a popular mentor.

But compared to previous mentor introductions, his assessment was more distinctive.

”Night Parade of Hundred Demons”

After announcing the test, a thick black fog enveloped Gui Ling’s front. As he raised his right hand, countless translucent Fierce Ghosts surged out from his sleeve, numbering two to three hundred, occupying most of the sky. The Fierce Ghosts weaved in and out, emitting piercing shrieks.

”Holding out for two minutes counts as success.”

Gui Ling said flatly, his voice eerie, perhaps due to the Fierce Ghosts’ influence.

Gui Ling wasn’t a target mentor for the crowd, so no one paid attention to his assessment rules.

”Gulp.”

A strange sound came, like someone swallowing.

Lin Feng looked toward Gongshan.

Gongshan’s expression was very awkward at this moment.

At some point, Gong Xiaoxiao, who was sleeping on his back, had woken up.

Those round eyes, like black gems, very beautiful but slightly dazed, were intently staring at the hundreds of Fierce Ghosts, looking eager to eat.

Her small mouth opened slightly, swallowing repeatedly, with drool dripping onto Gongshan’s shoulder, soaking the clothes damp.

”My sister seems hungry.”

Gongshan said awkwardly.

Hungry, not for food, but for ghosts.

Lin Feng watched Gong Xiaoxiao, frowning slightly.

Although Gong Xiaoxiao gained strength through the power of sacrifice, her intellect had not improved much.

She needed to sleep more than fifteen hours each day, and even awake, she needed her brother’s care.

Lin Feng wasn’t sure how to arrange for the Gongshan Siblings.

After all, both siblings were too weak.

Gong Xiaoxiao relied heavily on Gongshan. If Gongshan left for a few minutes, Gong Xiaoxiao would cry.

But if they weren’t separated, that meant no mentorship and inevitable disqualification.

”Brother Feng, how about my sister and I become Gui Ling’s disciples?” Gongshan hesitated to say.

Fierce Ghosts were just delicious snacks to Gong Xiaoxiao; the siblings could easily pass the assessment.

Only by becoming Gui Ling’s disciples could they stay together.

”Are you sure? Without our protection, what if you face danger after becoming disciples?”

Lin Feng asked.

Becoming a disciple didn’t mean being carefree; they still needed to compete for resources and opportunities. In a face-off with other students, Gongshan and Gong Xiaoxiao simply lacked the strength to resist.

”After becoming disciples, there should be a learning period first, postponing elimination. We’ll learn first, and if it doesn’t work, we’ll quit.”

Gongshan was naturally concerned about safety too. But if he didn’t want to part with his sister, becoming Gui Ling’s disciple was their only option.

Also, he didn’t want to remain a burden forever.

The Avengers Alliance may not mind now, but that could change. Falling behind eventually leads to elimination.

”Xiaoxiao’s intellect recovers slowly, seemingly needing to consume ghosts for rapid improvement,” Gongshan continued.

This was why he insisted on becoming Gui Ling’s disciple.

”Alright, try it, and if it doesn’t work, give up.”

Lin Feng thought for a while before nodding in agreement.

They could care for Gong Xiaoxiao for one or two years but not a lifetime.

If Gong Xiaoxiao couldn’t recover her intellect and didn’t grow quickly, she would eventually have to leave the alliance.

Gongshan made sense.

There probably would be a stable learning phase post-apprenticeship before elimination kicks in.

Moreover, with Avengers Alliance’s record and potential, other students of Gui Ling likely wouldn’t dare bully them easily.

”It’s about to start,” Dong Yunan reminded.

”First, replenish Ye Xing and the others,” Lin Feng said to Dong Yunan and Chen Tianming.

”Rain Moisturizing.”

Dong Yunan nodded, quickly entering Demon Transformation mode; the air shimmered slightly, and a light blue mist appeared above Ye Xing and the others, weaving into their bodies, making their muscles more active.

Chen Tianming followed with his transformation; glowing green mushrooms quivered slightly above everyone’s heads.

The green hat was on top, refreshing and invigorating.

The glowing ’green hats’ caught the eyes of surrounding students, many of whom looked on enviously.

At that moment, the Avengers Alliance undoubtedly became the highlight of the crowd.

Many students came by for small talk, hoping to wear a ’green hat’ themselves too.

No matter if it looked good or not, they just wanted to have that unique feeling.

”It started!”

Someone shouted loudly, the atmosphere became lively, and the students quickly dispersed, rushing madly up the different Golden Ladders toward their desired mentors.

The mentor assessments officially began.
