Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 788: Chapter 591: Together

As night fell, the desert sky resembled a flawless jade, with twinkling stars and gentle moonlight pouring down as a lively banquet unfolded.

The leading role of this banquet was the 555 apprentices who succeeded in the mentor assessment.

As for the other 555 helpers and those about to be eliminated, they could not attend this banquet.

Accompanied by soothing and relaxing music, the apprentices filled their stomachs and then grabbed their wine glasses, searching for suitable social circles. With wine in hand, they spoke freely and the atmosphere became increasingly lively.

”Aren’t you guys going out to socialize? Why stay so low-key?”

Alice held a glass of red wine in her right hand, took a small sip after a gentle swirl, and asked the apprentices.

In the slightly dim yellow lighting, the already charming Alice seemed even more radiant, as if she carried a halo, attracting heated gazes.

In Alice’s view, compared to the wide social circles of other mentor’s students, her students appeared somewhat socially phobic.

Though a mentor, Alice took more of a friendly attitude toward her students.

This was also related to her rank as a Middle Rank Spirit King.

Soon, her students could also become Kings, and their power difference wouldn’t be huge.

Moreover, among these fifteen students, nine come from homes with Emperor figures, and the remaining six have strong backing; while they respect her, they don’t feel any awe.

”Forget it.”

Chen Dali put down his knife and fork, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and shook his head.

He had no desire to socialize.

Not just him, the others felt the same.

Having become Alice’s apprentices, they were already known as the privileged group.

Being part of the privileged group was actually fine.

Much of the rewards from the King Becoming Plan were provided by them, spending real money.

Half of the invitees were part of the privileged group as well.

Among the apprentices, there were quite a few in the privileged group, but most had been eliminated.

Those who weren’t eliminated didn’t gather like them.

Actually, not many cared about the privileged group; it was mainly Alice’s assessment topic that had become a laughing matter.

When students initially puzzled by Alice’s assessment topic saw these Royal Descendants Army members, they instantly understood the deeper meaning.

If Lin Feng hadn’t also apprenticed under Alice, the mockery would have been even more rampant.

Participating in the King Becoming Plan, Chen Dali also aimed to expand his circle of friends.

Before the banquet started, they tried to meet new friends and get to know popular students.

But most people weren’t enthusiastic toward them and were rather perfunctory; some even made no effort to hide the sarcasm in their eyes.

Even if some seemed outwardly enthusiastic and willing to become friends, their conversations were probing for information.

These people truly cared about the power behind them, not about becoming friends.

As for the popular students, they didn’t care about the backing behind them.

The popular students were about to become Kings, and with their own strong power, some of their backgrounds were not weaker.

The apprentices of the King Becoming Plan came from all over the world, and after the plan ended, each would return home, with little chance of meeting again.

Moreover, even if they became acquainted, relying on a bit of friendship to get help from an Emperor behind someone wasn’t so easy.

Usually, the strong only recognized the strong and made friends with the strong.

Having been repeatedly discouraged, Chen Dali no longer had the desire to meet new friends.

Besides, there was a big shot right beside him.

”Lin Feng, why aren’t you going out?”

Alice asked, noticing Lin Feng quietly eating fried rice.

With all ten members of the Avengers Alliance successfully apprenticing and advancing, they had become the focal point of this mentor assessment battle.

Due to Lin Feng’s apprenticeship, her attention also increased significantly.

Not only were the apprentices focused on them, but so were the mentors.

Even Emperor mentors couldn’t underestimate this alliance with infinite potential.

Many wanted to get to know Lin Feng, even those apprentices who had already become Kings.

”No need.” Lin Feng looked up at Alice and said flatly.

With a slow-warming nature, he disliked noise and wasn’t someone who enjoyed meeting new people; excessive socializing was meaningless.

His sole pursuit was power.

Unless it was beneficial to his strength, unnecessary socializing was just a waste of time.

In Lin Feng’s view, if he couldn’t solve something, other apprentices likely couldn’t either.

Expecting someone to give their all for you with brief socializing is wishful thinking.

”Alright then.”

Alice chuckled lightly and didn’t press the question further.

”Oh, I almost forgot to mention. According to the event rules, before 12 o’clock tomorrow night, you need to provide your list of helpers to me. The list should be submitted by the team captain, and you should discuss among yourselves to choose a captain; I won’t participate. Just a reminder, there are small rewards and privileges for being a captain.”

After Alice spoke, she scanned her students with her red eyes, wanting to see their reactions.

However, their reactions somewhat surprised her.

They seemed a bit too calm.

”Captain?”

Chen Dali and his group exchanged looks and finally turned their gaze to Lin Feng.

”I support Lin Feng as captain.”

Chen Dali was the first to speak.

Among the fifteen students, only he and Lin Feng were from Hua Country, geographically making them the closest, so having Lin Feng as captain would certainly benefit him.

Moreover, he truly admired Lin Feng.

”I support him too.”

”Me too.”

”I have no objections either.”

The others all agreed.

Being a captain had benefits, but those benefits definitely weren’t easy to gain.

A captain is the boss of a team, the one to take the lead when other teams bully them.

Having succeeded through connections, they didn’t have the strength to stand out, only Lin Feng did.

Based on his performance, only Lin Feng was qualified.

”Then Lin Feng will be the captain.”

Alice said to Lin Feng.

She hadn’t expected the captain position to be decided so quickly.

”Great, thanks everyone for the support.”

Lin Feng nodded without any pretentious humility.

”Captain, you’re too kind.”

”Apart from Lin Feng, I don’t submit to anyone.”

”The captain is the coolest!”

”The captain loves me!”

”The captain loves me more!”

Faced with Lin Feng’s thanks, the students responded.

Among them, ”The captain loves me!” was said by Mosi, who was already interested in Lin Feng.

As for the subsequent ”The captain loves me more!”, it was said by Chen Dali, making everyone burst into laughter.

Chen Dali was seated to Lin Feng’s left; amidst the laughter, Chen Dali became more enthusiastic, threw his right arm over, hooked onto Lin Feng’s arm, and with a blissful expression, play-acted a foolish demeanor, leaning on Lin Feng’s shoulder.

”...”

Looking at the burly man snuggling beside him, Lin Feng was speechless.

You being this creepy, did you get my approval?

”Together!”

”Together!”

”Have babies!”

”Have triplets!”

Seeing Lin Feng’s constipated expression, everyone burst out laughing and teasing, their wanton laughter catching the attention of many around them.

Some felt surprised, while others envied their harmonious atmosphere.

A captain election without any posturing or face-slapping, no fighting or sniping, and no sarcastic remarks, with an atmosphere so harmonious that even Alice was surprised.

”Truly nice.”

Alice smiled slightly.

Though uncertain about the future, in that moment, she was happy and found the experience worthwhile.
