Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 768: Chapter 577: Mad Demon

This night was destined to be tough.

The trainees were forbidden from leaving the camp, but they didn’t remain idle, trying every possible way to gather information, hoping to obtain the mentors’ assessment topics.

Knowing the assessment topics and being prepared can increase the chances of success.

If the assessment topics are too difficult and unsuitable, they can give up early and choose other desired mentors; there’s no need to hang oneself on a single tree.

While gathering information, the trainees also started to form alliances.

A student can bring along a helper.

If the trainees have the same desired mentors, then cooperating with each other can greatly increase the success rate of becoming apprentices.

Once accepted by a mentor, there’s actually not much difference between the student and the helper.

The mentor won’t deliberately treat them differently.

Thus, powerful trainees became ”hot commodities.”

Out of 1,751 trainees, three are known to have become Kings, and five are Half-Step Kings.

These eight became the targets of the trainees’ ingratiation.

It can be said that as long as they hold onto their big legs, the mentor competition battle would be won while lying down.

”Brother Zhou, can you take me along this time? As long as I succeed in becoming an apprentice, I will follow your lead.”

In front of a youth, Xie Yixiao bowed slightly, somewhat humbly said.

As one of the top ten All-Stars, the number one Thunder Technique in the Glory Alliance, he had always been the target of flattery from teammates.

In the Alliance, even the coaches and club executives were courteous to him.

Even Ye Xing, the number one person in the Alliance, took great care of him.

This was his first time being so humble.

Seeing Brother Zhou unmoved, Xie Yixiao’s smile remained unchanged, he took out a card from his pocket: ”Brother Zhou, this card has two hundred million, it’s the savings from my career.”

Faced with Xie Yixiao’s flattery and bribery, the youth known as Brother Zhou shook his head slightly, directly rejecting: ”Yi Xiao, you started as Chen Junhao’s helper, if he wouldn’t help you, why should I?”

Xie Yixiao gave an awkward smile, not responding to the topic.

Though feeling humiliated inside, he made one last effort: ”Brother Zhou, three years ago when you negotiated a retirement contract with Ju Xing, I helped you, just think of...”

”Haha.”

Before Xie Yixiao could finish, Zhou Nan directly interrupted with a laugh, a slight mockery in his voice: ”I owe you for that contract indeed, thanks to your involvement, the price increased significantly, but didn’t I also serve as your substitute for two years, and do you think that bit of help and two hundred million can compare to the opportunity of becoming a King?”

After speaking, Zhou Nan looked at Xie Yixiao.

Xie Yixiao didn’t dare to look directly into his eyes, his expression stiffened, unable to maintain his forced smile, as Zhou Nan turned and left, he silently watched him go.

”Ungrateful dog.”

Xie Yixiao muttered to himself.

Each of these people aren’t as good as me, just because they’ve cultivated a few more years and have a bit more power, they put on airs in front of me.

The most despicable is Chen Junhao.

Chen Junhao wants to become an apprentice of Gustav.

Gustav is not only an Extraordinary powerhouse, but also the world’s acknowledged number one Frenzy Warrior, naturally there are many who want to become his apprentice; even Chen Junhao is not absolutely confident of passing the assessment.

To increase his chances of becoming an apprentice, he chose to collaborate with others, without any hesitation kicking me aside.

”Damn officials, damn competition rules, since reformation is possible, why set up helpers in the first place?”

After cursing for a while, Xie Yixiao calmed down, once again stepping onto the path of seeking partners.

Despite repeatedly being rejected and humiliated, compared to the opportunity of becoming a King, enduring this bit of humiliation is nothing.

As long as I become a King, it’s all worth it.

Though Zhou Nan is a dog, he wasn’t wrong, the past connection really doesn’t compare to the opportunity of becoming a King.

Trainees are worried, some mentors are also troubled.

In the mentors’ dorm area.

Inside the room.

Alice and Black Girl Betty are researching the trainees’ profiles, going through five to six hours since morning, even skipping dinner.

The trainees are quite familiar with the mentors’ profiles, after all, more than half of the 37 mentors are well-known figures.

For those they aren’t familiar with, today’s presentations and Secret Skill demos have given them a general understanding.

However, the mentors aren’t too clear about the trainees’ profiles.

With 1,751 trainees, it’s impossible to deeply understand each one, and the profiles only provide basic information from official sources.

”Can’t look anymore, my eyes hurt, my head too.”

Betty complained, casually throwing the profiles aside, then looking at Alice, weakly said: ”Do you really think looking at profiles can help design the best assessment topics?”

Alice ignored her friend’s complaints, continuing her serious research.

She wanted to select quality trainees through the assessment topics. But she also knew, the initiative wasn’t in her hands.

”Let’s eat first, no need to look, all the good trainees will choose Emperors as mentors, if it were us, we’d do the same. Fifteen Emperors choose 450 trainees, the rest would first consider someone like Clark the freak, and only then consider us.”

Betty continued her discouragement.

Alice furrowed her brow, reluctantly putting the profiles down.

The facts were as Betty said.

They weren’t Emperors.

Among Kings, neither their power nor Secret Skills were top-notch.

Betty was better off, being an Upper Rank Spirit King, while she was only Middle Rank Spirit King, truly at the bottom.

Her Secret Skill [Second Incarnation] seemed powerful, possessing abilities of an Extraordinary, but in most eyes, this skill seemed burdensome, and required giving up the Martial Emperor path, hardly attractive to anyone.

Whether it was power, Secret Skills, or even family background, she was at the bottom, how could she attract quality trainees?

Not only had she not figured out the assessment topics, but Alice also didn’t know whom to give the three invitation cards.

She didn’t have any connections either.

Though many forces contacted her today, wanting to buy an invitation card, with good prices offered, that money was no allure to her.

She checked the trainee profiles they provided, and found their power and talents quite average, the probability of them becoming Kings not high.

Even if they became Kings, they’d be ordinary Kings, offering her no benefit.

In fact, without even looking at the profiles, it’s easy to guess, truly capable individuals or exceptionally talented trainees wouldn’t spend large sums to buy an invitation card.

Even if seeking one, it shouldn’t be her they approach.

”Don’t worry about it, if it doesn’t work, just go for the three highest bidders and make some money first.”

Betty said.

Alice looked helpless: ”You know, I don’t lack money, and I didn’t become a mentor for the money.”

Betty was about to speak, but her gaze suddenly shifted to the door, as did Alice’s. Both of them looked a bit nervous, and the latter even showed a trace of fear.

”He’s here.”

Alice’s expression became serious, and even her breathing turned heavy.

”Knock knock knock”

There was a knock on the door.

”Betty, you should leave first.”

Alice stood up, then turned and spoke to Betty.

Betty hesitated a bit, but in the end, she shook her head.

”No need, even though we’re not a match for him, with me here, he’s less likely to try anything.”

”Knock knock knock knock knock!!”

The knocking grew more urgent and louder, and even the energy in the air started to vibrate intensely.

When Alice opened the door, a man appeared in front of her.

The man was two meters tall, with a Western face, lean features, red hair, and red eyes. He looked about forty or fifty years old and wore a formal black suit with a white shirt and black vest, as if he were about to attend a grand concert. However, in stark contrast to his attire, his face bore black tattoo-like sacrificial markings, exuding a cold, sinister charm.

As the door opened, his eyes scrutinized Alice without hiding his admiration and possessiveness.

To him, Alice seemed particularly captivating at night. The black dress accentuated her already fair skin to near transparency, and those fiery red eyes, much like his, were rare—a reason he was smitten at their first meeting. Her brown long hair swayed gently with her curvaceous figure, igniting a strong impulse in him.

”Hello, Emperor Suo.”

Alice suppressed her inner fear and disgust, greeting him.

She wanted to slam the door shut, wanted to kill the man before her, but she didn’t dare and felt powerless.

Because the man in front of her was one of the 15 Emperor-level mentors this time around, Alfonso.

Mad Demon Alfonso.

”You have company?”

Alfonso asked, his gaze shifted to Betty inside the room.

Faced with Alfonso’s gaze, Betty subconsciously averted her eyes.

”Can you leave for a moment? I need to talk to Alice.”

Alfonso inquired.

Betty wanted to refuse, wanted to protect her friend, but her body betrayed her, slowly moving out of the door.

Before leaving, she glanced at Alice, her eyes revealing a sense of guilt.

Alice smiled at her friend, indicating not to worry, and turned back into the room.

Alfonso entered the room, gently closed the door, and upon seeing the bed full of student profiles, he smiled and said: ”Have you decided on the students? Who are you giving your three invitation cards to?”

Alice replied: ”Haven’t decided yet, it’s all the same to me.”

Alice was dismissive.

She wanted to end the conversation quickly and get Alfonso out of her room.

Alfonso could sense Alice’s dismissal but was not angered.

”I heard you volunteered to become a mentor?”

Alfonso asked.

”Yes.”

Alice responded, though it seemed a simple query, it gave her a bad feeling.

Alfonso paced the room, his eyes fixed on Alice as if observing something, then after a while, he chuckled:

”You’re not planning to use those students, or their backing forces, against me, are you?”

Alice’s body trembled slightly, she shook her head and said: ”I have no such intention, after all, you’re an Emperor.”

Seeing Alfonso remain silent, Alice continued: ”I just plan to earn some money; resources have been tight lately.”

”If you’re short on resources, come to me. I have plenty.”

Seeing Alice’s fearful demeanor, Alfonso stopped, chuckling lightly:

”Whether or not you have such thoughts, it doesn’t matter to me. I like you, so I’ll give you three years to prepare. Nine months remain until the three-year agreement.”

Alice remained silent.

What seemed to be gentlemanly words from Alfonso were, in truth, an unabashed threat.

Mad Demon Alfonso, his nickname not only stems from his Secret Skill [Demon Body] but also due to his character and way of doing things.

On their first meeting, Alfonso confessed his love to her.

She refused.

Thus, Alfonso killed her boyfriend.

Even though she never saw it with her own eyes, Alice was sure he was the murderer.

After that, other male friends who associated with her also suddenly died.

Currently, Alice dared not have any contact with men.

Not even to speak with them.

In order to save herself, and to be rid of Alfonso, she created the Secret Skill ”Second Incarnation,” volunteering as a mentor in the King Becoming plan, but unexpected to her, he also came.

Alice understands that in nine months, if she still doesn’t compromise, something will happen to her family as well.

Alfonso will use every method possible to force her to yield.

Even if she kills herself, he won’t stop.

He’s a madman.

A mentally unstable madman.

With such a powerful madman, reasoning is futile.

”Looking forward to tomorrow’s evaluation.”

After saying that, Alfonso leaned in close, causing Alice’s body to tremble, then lightly kissed her cheek, whispering softly:

”Remember, you’re mine!”
