Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 767: Chapter 576: A Bad Change Is a Good Beginning

After the mentors left, the students dispersed and returned to the camp under the guidance of the staff.

Lin Feng and his group were no exception.

To prevent students from privately contacting and interacting with mentors, their phones were confiscated and they were also informed not to leave the camp without a reason before the mentor assessment the next morning.

Even if there was a need to leave temporarily, they needed staff accompaniment.

Inside the camp.

The crowd dispersed, sitting on backless wooden chairs, Lin Feng watched the news for a while, then said to everyone:

”I checked, the official website hasn’t published the competition rules, nor has the schedule for tomorrow’s events.”

”Judging by the rules Igor mentioned, the assessment topics for the 37 mentors should be completely designed and set by the mentors themselves, the official doesn’t know, so they haven’t been announced.”

”With 1,751 students and 37 mentors, different assessment topics, an assessment can be as short as tens of minutes or as long as a few hours, even days. It’s impossible to conduct them one by one. So tomorrow morning, the mentors will likely announce their assessment topics simultaneously.”

”Successfully passing the assessment means successfully apprenticing under a mentor.”

”According to the competition rules, we can try one by one, but the premise is that there’s enough time.”

”A mentor can only take on fifteen students, once they’re full, it’s over.”

”Secondly, factors like injuries and soul power consumption must be considered, this time there won’t be therapists to restore status during the assessment.”

”The stronger the mentor, under normal circumstances, the more difficult the assessment topic. Of course, this isn’t absolute, but one thing is certain, the simpler the topic, the fiercer the competition.”

”We have seventeen people, and each can have a helper, so we need to ensure nine people successfully apprentice.”

”In theory, the mentor’s assessment topics can be anything, even height and weight could be used as assessment topics. To ensure everyone progresses, we need to confirm nine mentors first. Even if others have their desired mentors, even if the mentor’s assessment topic is very suited to them, they must first target these nine mentors as their primary choice.”

”Nine people, I am one of them, and my mentor choice is Alice.”

After Lin Feng finished, Bu Zheng continued: ”I don’t have a mentor choice, I’ll follow your lead, I don’t mind.”

Since Bu Zheng didn’t have a mentor choice, he wasn’t counted, Lin Feng looked at the others.

Ye Xing said: ”Mentor Gustav.”

Yun Tianqi hesitated for a while before saying: ”Miyamoto Tenshu.”

Yun Kai said: ”Mine is Zuo Ziyu.”

Ye Qiu: ”I don’t have a mentor in mind either, so I’ll pick Tang Rong.”

Yun Tianqi glanced at Ye Qiu, gratitude in his eyes.

Tang Rong and Miyamoto Tenshu were both mentors he wanted to choose, difficult to decide, Ye Qiu was obviously considering his thoughts.

Yu Qiao: ”Then I must be Leng Feng.”

Yue Mingming: ”I can only choose Curtis, he’s the only summoner among the mentors.”

Zhan Tianyu: ”I choose Alfonso.”

To ensure nine people successfully apprentice and select nine mentors, currently there are only eight mentor choices.

The others did not speak up, not because they had no mentor preference, but because they lacked confidence in their abilities.

For example, Dong Yunan and He Jun, they weren’t confident in themselves, as long as they weren’t eliminated, they would be very satisfied.

As for the Gongshan siblings, they had even less of an idea.

Huang Tianze had a target mentor, and with his background, he was confident he could successfully apprentice, but he didn’t want to compete with his companions.

Lin Feng looked at Yang Ningbing, who hesitated a bit, ultimately didn’t dare to speak.

As a Thunder Series mage, she wanted to apprentice under Reimer, but lacked confidence, even though she had the divine-level soul skill [Thunder Tribulation].

Everyone looked at each other, and the atmosphere fell silent for a moment until Bing raised his hand to break the silence: ”I want to choose Shou’Er.”

Lin Feng looked at Bing, somewhat surprised.

Not surprised that he chose Shou’Er, but surprised that he spoke up.

Within the Avengers Alliance, Bing was extremely reserved, even more so than Gongshan.

Though Gongshan was weak, because of his sister’s connection, he at least had some presence, Bing had almost no presence, sometimes not saying a word for days, people might even think he was mute.

Under everyone’s gaze, Bing slightly lowered his head, obviously a bit nervous, it had taken him a long time to make up his mind.

Because of the soul contract with the same alliance members, relationships were closer than those in other organizations.

Even so, there would still be conflicts and arguments, and small cliques would form.

Led by Lin Feng, the Red Cloud University faction was one group. He Jun and the Gongshan siblings were also considered part of this group.

Ye Xing and Yun Tianqi formed another group, older and stronger than the other members, fewer in number but with significant influence.

Ye Qiu, Zhan Tianyu, Huang Tianze, and Yang Ningbing, those with influential backgrounds, formed a third group.

The Avengers Alliance has three groups.

Bing was an independent individual, unable to blend into other groups.

He had just recently joined the Avengers Alliance, the others didn’t bully him, but didn’t particularly like him either, especially since he was a half-human.

Previously, when the Nightmare took control of Lin Feng’s body, Bing risked his life to save him, earning the group’s approval, but that was all.

In everyday life, apart from Yun Kai, no one else talked much with him.

And Yun Kai was already a man of few words, so Bing spoke even less.

”You want to apprentice under Shou’Er?” Lin Feng asked.

The secret skill of Shou’Er is beastification modification.

This secret skill not only grants the bodily characteristics of a demon beast but also enables the acquisition of soul skills, and using these skills consumes no soul power, which is an extremely powerful secret technique.

In Lin Feng’s view, this secret skill can be considered a divine skill.

Among the 37 mentors, each has different secret skills, and beastification modification ranks in the top five, perhaps even the top three.

In terms of practicality and power, being ranked first wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

Clark’s domain, Taoist Muyun’s elementalization, Alice’s Second Incarnation, even the extraordinary abilities within the King Realm, are essentially just abilities.

These abilities can also be understood as divine-level soul skills.

But beastification modification grants up to seven soul skills, or even more.

If not for the fact that beastification modification is difficult to accept, comes with life-threatening risks, and even success could be accompanied by various side effects, it would definitely drive everyone into a frenzy.

Among a hundred students, ninety-five would want to apprentice under Shou’Er.

This is not an exaggeration.

The importance of soul skills cannot be overstated.

The strength of a Demon Spirit Master lies in the number and power of their soul skills.

A good soul skill can transform a Demon Spirit Master.

The stronger the Demon Spirit Master, the more cautious they are when choosing soul skills, as their number is limited.

Even those who are extraordinary, if they haven’t refined a second demon spirit, only have ten soul skills.

A secret skill that grants not only the body of a demon beast but multiple soul skills, and those skills don’t consume soul power, what else could be called a divine skill?

With Bing’s undying bloodline, combined with the Blood-colored Scarecrow from the Earth Chart, the success rate of such beastification modification should be very high, and there’s less need to worry about side effect issues.

Since Shou’Er showcases the beastification modification secret skill, it’s likely that the assessment topic is related to it.

Both the secret skill and Bing match very well, to the point that even if he received an invitation card, there would be no need to worry about the compatibility issue.

Bing finally made up his mind after some hesitation, and said: ”I want to choose Shou’Er.”

Lin Feng looked at Bing, a little surprised.

Not surprised that he chose Shou’Er, but surprised that he spoke up at all.

In the Avengers Alliance, Bing is extremely low-key, even more so than the Gongshan siblings.

Gongshan, although weaker, at least had a presence due to his sister, while Bing had almost no presence, sometimes not saying a single word for days. Some even thought he was mute.

With everyone looking at him, Bing slightly lowered his head, noticeably a bit nervous, before making up his mind after a long hesitation.

Because they had signed the same soul contract, the alliance members had a closer bond than in a general organization.

Even so, there were still conflicts and arguments, and several small cliques.

Led by Lin Feng, the group from Red Cloud University was one clique. He Jun and the Gongshan siblings were also in it.

Ye Xing and Yun Tianqi formed another group, older and stronger than the other members, though fewer in number, their voice carried significant weight.

Members with notable backgrounds such as Ye Qiu, Zhan Tianyu, Huang Tianze, and Yang Ningbing formed another group.

The Avengers Alliance consists of three groups.

Bing is an independent individual, unable to integrate with other groups.

He had only just joined the Avengers Alliance, and though other members didn’t bully him, there was no particular fondness as he was a half-human.

Previously, when a Nightmare had possessed Lin Feng’s body, Bing had absolutely risked everything to save him, earning the approval of his companions, but that was about it.

On ordinary days, except for Yun Kai, no one else had much to say to him.

And Yun Kai was naturally a man of few words, so there wasn’t much conversation.
