I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 146: Chapter 119: An Unexpected Elite BOSS

After putting the behemoth into his aquarium, Gu Nan hurried back to the cabin to shed his soaking wet clothes and grab the spare set of fishing clothes he had brought along from the bedroom.

Ever since that time he’d fished in the rain, he had considered that he might run into a similar situation again. He’d come prepared but hadn’t expected to need it today.

It was already very late. After catching the Indian Marlin of over five hundred pounds, the time was now 2:30 in the morning.

The Indian Marlin was definitely not over six hundred pounds. If it had been, the line would have snapped when he’d yanked on the rod so hard later.

He glanced at the Guidebook. It was 4.43 meters long, only 33 centimeters longer than the last one, but the difference in weight was massive—at least a hundred-something pounds.

’But that makes sense. If its growth in length slows down, it has to grow wider.’

Moreover, this Indian Marlin had reached the King-tier. This happened to complete the ”Collect a King-Tier Specimen” quest in the normal Guidebook, earning him four thousand Gold Coins and ten Silver Keys.

Gu Nan used them immediately and received four Rare Fish Stickers, three Big Fish Stickers, and three Gold Coin Cards.

So now he had six Rare Fish Stickers, four Big Fish Stickers, and four Gold Coin Cards.

After stripping off his wet clothes, drying his body, and changing into a clean set, Gu Nan instantly felt much more comfortable.

To be honest, with only the final Elite BOSS left to unlock in the Guidebook, something about going back now just didn’t sit right with him.

’I probably won’t even be able to sleep. My mind will just be full of the Elite BOSS.’

If a typhoon wasn’t on its way, it would be one thing, but of all the luck, one was coming.

A light rain had already started to fall, and the wind and waves were picking up. Although he wouldn’t be back in domestic waters by tomorrow, it was highly unlikely he’d be able to go out to sea.

And it wasn’t just for one day. From tomorrow until the typhoon passed, it would be at least three days. Wasting three days of his daily attempts pained Gu Nan greatly.

He rested in the cabin for half an hour. The moment he stood up to try again, an ache shot through his body, making him wince.

Fighting a marlin over five hundred pounds by yourself? It’s brave, very brave, but it comes at a price.

But Gu Nan gritted his teeth and pushed himself up. It felt much better once he was on his feet. The problem was mainly that he had lain down while completely exhausted; if he had been sitting or standing, it wouldn’t have been so bad.

He stretched his limbs and felt okay. He put on his raincoat, donned a waterproof sun hat, and went back out to continue fishing for the Elite BOSS.

This time, however, Gu Nan thought about his fishing strategy.

’I’ve cast twice and gotten normal bosses. I have a feeling the Elite BOSS won’t be caught with this method.’

’First, I’ll try fishing the mid-water column. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try jigging off the bottom. If I still can’t catch it, then there’s nothing I can do.’

The Big Fatty bait wiggled happily in the mid-water column when a dark shadow suddenly flashed by.

Ooh~

It got swallowed again!

Feeling the pull, Gu Nan shook his head. This was the fifth one. They were all small fish, and no BOSS indicator had appeared. This method wasn’t working.

The fish was only about three or four pounds. He quickly reeled it in. It was another Large White Grouper.

During normal fishing, fish of all sizes could appear. Catching a three- or four-pound Large White Grouper with the purple rod was normal.

However, Gu Nan discovered that the attributes of the purple set weren’t entirely useless.

At least the upper limit had been raised. Even without using his guaranteed catch attempts during normal fishing, he could now catch fish larger than the ”Giant” category.

He had caught five fish in the mid-water column, three of which were Large White Groupers. This gave him an idea of how to quickly complete Quest One and Quest Two.

He put the fish away, swapped out the Big Fatty, and switched to a jig.

This time, Gu Nan chose to jig off the bottom. The jig bobbed up and down near the seabed, occasionally hitting a reef with a BANG that echoed far through the water.

Just then, a large grouper hiding behind a reef flew into a rage.

It had eaten its fill earlier in the evening and was now sleeping comfortably at home. Who knew that some constant BANG, BANG from outside would seriously disrupt its sleep, making its temper flare.

It peeked out its front door and saw that it was just a tiny piece of food. This little shrimp wasn’t even enough for a snack.

But being so grouchy from being woken up, how could it possibly tolerate this? It shot out and swallowed the ”little fish” in one gulp.

To its shock, the scene before its eyes suddenly changed. It found itself inexplicably in a completely unfamiliar place.

But the sharp pain in its mouth left it with little time to worry about that. It just wanted to spit out the thing in its mouth.

On the boat, Gu Nan instinctively raised his rod to set the hook. Feeling the pull, he was a little disappointed. The force was strong, very strong even, but it couldn’t compare to the Indian Marlin. It wasn’t even as strong as the two-hundred-pound-plus fish from before.

But the next moment, the ”Elite BOSS” indicator suddenly appeared above the sea.

Gu Nan’s eyes widened. ’The Elite BOSS is just this small?’

’This pull... it’s a hundred-something pounds at most!’

The Elite BOSS was much smaller than he had imagined. Then again, a hundred-something-pound fish couldn’t really be called ”small.”

The main reason was that Gu Nan’s expectations for the Elite BOSS were too high. He thought it would be some ridiculously exaggerated type of fish!

’Could it be an especially rare species, like a Su Mei?’

’But you aren’t allowed to sell Su Mei domestically. Then again, the smaller they are, the more expensive they get.’

’A hundred-something-pound Su Mei could only be an ornamental fish. The meat is very tough.’

Gu Nan focused his mind and began to fight the Elite BOSS.

The rod bent, the line went taut, and the reel handle was turning, but very slowly.

If this were the Indian Marlin, even with this much force, it would have been able to quickly strip line from the reel. Clearly, this fish wasn’t a fast swimmer. Instead, it gave Gu Nan the same feeling as that false oil-spot grouper from before.
