Chapter 140: Chapter 117: Gu Nan: Dahuang, You Know I Caught a Big Fish Too?

Guo Xiao took out his DSLR, and the three of them each took a picture with the huge, hoisted yellowtail.

You have to take a picture with a big fish like this. Otherwise, how are you supposed to brag about it ten years from now?

”Tsk, tsk, tsk, Ah Nan, this fish has to be worth close to twenty thousand. You really can’t get out of treating us this time.” Even after scrutinizing the fish from top to bottom, Guo Xiao still lingered beside it, patting its body from time to time.

The yellowtail was still hanging because it needed to be bled out completely first.

By slitting the blood vessels inside, hanging it like this allowed the blood to drain completely without having to cut its tail.

Gu Nan was currently leaning against the ship’s rail, resting. Catching such a huge fish was quite tiring, but he was recovering faster now than before. He figured another ten minutes or so of rest would be enough.

”I’ll treat you. I definitely will.” If he had caught a bluefin, or even a marlin or sailfish, he would have definitely sold it to Guo Xiao first, which would have saved him the trouble of treating them.

Now, this rare, massive fish needed to be displayed at the entrance of his own shop, so he wouldn’t be selling it to the two of them. That made treating them a must.

”I’ll work hard again tonight and see if I can catch another Meter Level one. Then Brother Guo and Brother Wang can each have one.”

But Wang Junhe waved his hand and said haughtily, ”N-No need. It’s just a Meter Level fish. I can catch one myself.”

The one he hooked earlier wasn’t small either, but unfortunately, he hadn’t considered he might catch a big one, so his line was too thin and snapped. Now that he’d changed his line, he felt he could definitely do it.

Guo Xiao didn’t mock him. Gu Nan’s offer was a safety net, but if possible, he’d much rather catch one himself. So, he stopped admiring the big fish and quickly picked up his rod to start fishing.

”...” Seeing the two of them act like this, Gu Nan shook his head, amused.

The boat rod was still busy, so he started cleaning some fish on the side while he waited for his break to be over before continuing.

Because Gu Nan had caught the big one, the school of fish was temporarily without a leader. They ended up staying in the area for the entire night before finally leaving again.

This time, the school wasn’t as concentrated as before; it had dispersed quite a bit. However, their general path was still northward, as yellowtail prefer colder waters.

On the fishing boat, Guo Xiao and Wang Junhe couldn’t stay up all night. They fished until eleven o’clock before heading back to wash up and go to sleep.

Only Gu Nan, as a professional angler, kept fishing until the school dispersed.

The haul, naturally, was impressive.

The once-empty refrigerated hold was now almost completely filled with the yellowtail he had caught. This was also partly because the boat’s cold storage wasn’t very large.

Because these weren’t fish produced by the game, Gu Nan didn’t know the exact number he had caught.

Anyway, with two fishing rods, he could catch fifty to sixty fish in an hour on a good run, and at least twenty or so on a slow one.

Not counting the afternoon and the time spent catching the king fish, there were nine and a half hours from 8:00 PM to 5:30 AM alone.

Taking into account the occasional breaks Gu Nan took when his hands got sore and tired, he estimated he definitely had over three hundred yellowtail.

The main workhorse was the boat rod paired with the electric reel. Without the electric reel, his haul would have been at least two-thirds smaller.

This was no exaggeration. It was impossible to catch that many ten-pound-plus yellowtail with manual strength alone. Even Gu Nan, who had a 5% recovery speed, felt like his hands were completely wrecked.

It was only because a typhoon was coming and he might not be able to go out to sea afterward that he pushed himself so recklessly. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gone so hard.

The school of fish had already dispersed. Gu Nan put away his fishing rods, grabbed three bananas from the kitchen fridge to eat, then went back to his room to wash up and sleep.

He slept until 12:30 in the afternoon, when he was finally woken up by Wang Junhe.

”We’re almost at the dock. By the way, what are you going to do with all those fish?” Wang Junhe asked.

When he woke up this morning and took a look inside the refrigerated hold, he almost started questioning his life.

It was packed solid with fish. It was even more ridiculous than a trawler’s catch.

Of course, given the density of yesterday’s fish school, a large trawler could have caught over five tons in a single net.

Gu Nan had only caught a little over 1.5 tons from the afternoon to the next morning. It really couldn’t compare.

At retail price, his catch was worth over three hundred thousand, but realistically, it was impossible for him to sell all these fish at retail prices.

To sell them quickly, he could only sell them in bulk at wholesale prices to fishmongers, hotels, and other large-scale buyers.

Otherwise, he’d have to rent a warehouse for storage and it would take forever to sell them all.

”I’ll display the big one at my shop’s entrance. People will definitely ask about it, which will be good publicity for the store. I’ll keep a small portion to sell individually at the shop, and the rest will go to the fish dealers.”

Gu Nan got out of bed and dressed while yawning. After nearly eight hours of sleep, he was now full of Spirit.

”I have a friend who runs a hotel, and they use a lot of yellowtail. If you’re willing to sell at the wholesale price, I can have them send someone over to pick up the fish.”

”That’d be great! I was just getting a headache thinking about haggling with the fish dealers later!” Gu Nan agreed instantly. It was better to sell directly to a hotel than to haggle over prices with dealers, and besides, Wang Junhe wouldn’t screw him over.

”Alright, just remember to treat us later!” Wang Junhe patted his shoulder and left the room.

Gu Nan smiled, picked up his phone, and checked the time. It was already almost afternoon.

So, he sent a message to Zhao Jie and Zhang Mingfei, asking if they wanted some fresh yellowtail that had just been caught and bled. He even offered them the wholesale price of sixty-five a jin.

If they were to source it themselves, the price would be about the same, maybe slightly cheaper.

But Gu Nan’s were freshly caught and hadn’t even been stored for a full day. For fish this fresh at a wholesale price, they would definitely be snatching it up.
