I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 142: Chapter 117: Gu Nan: Dahuang, You Know I Caught a Big Fish, Too?

Gu Nan had made a lot of money today, so of course he was generous when it came to treating others.

On Wang Junhe’s recommendation, they went to a private restaurant and enjoyed a lunch with decent portions, excellent flavor, and an exorbitant price tag.

The three of them didn’t drink since they had things to do in the afternoon. The food alone cost him 5,700, and that was after Wang Junhe’s membership discount.

Gu Nan mentally filed away the restaurant’s name, Taste Tongue. ’I’ll have to bring someone here to flex sometime.’

”Right, right, right, you have to put the fish on top so it’s more conspicuous.”

”Ah Nan has a tricycle for his fish. Speaking of which, what should we do with ours?”

”It’s over forty pounds, so it’s not easy to carry. How about on our backs?”

”That could work...”

Watching the two older men gesturing at the two Meter Level yellowtails by their feet, Gu Nan said with a deadpan expression, ”You guys might be catching big fish often from now on. Why not buy a tricycle like me?”

Wang Junhe’s eyes lit up. ”Good idea! So that’s why you didn’t buy a van?”

Guo Xiao chimed in, ”We’d have to get a board, too, to keep the truck bed from getting all fishy.”

”...”

’They’re just afraid people won’t be able to see the fish in the truck bed!’

Gu Nan really wanted to roast them. They were grown men, yet they were still so childish.

”Well, Brother Wang, Brother Guo, I’m heading out.”

”Alright. Let’s go fishing together again when we have the chance.”

”No problem!”

Gu Nan agreed readily, twisted the throttle, and the tricycle slowly started moving.

「Three minutes later.」

Standing on the boat, Wang Junhe watched as Gu Nan’s tricycle, still at the dock, was surrounded by a crowd of people. His face darkened. ”Did that kid’s tricycle run out of battery?”

Guo Xiao crossed his arms and mused, ”It’s pretty normal for a new vehicle to have a short circuit or some other problem, right?”

Wang Junhe frowned. ”We can’t let other people get scammed. Why don’t we go buy one too, to test if there’s really a problem?”

”Let’s go?”

”Let’s go!”

Gu Nan glanced around. ’This isn’t working. There are too many people. It’ll be too late by the time I get back to the shop.’

Then he sped up, and the onlookers on both sides also... walked a little faster...

At 4:30 in the afternoon, Gu Nan arrived back at the shop. ”Yi Chen, help me grab the extension cord! The tricycle is out of battery!”

”Okay!” Yi Chen, who had been on her way out to greet him, stopped in her tracks, then ran back inside and brought out the power strip.

She saw the huge fish on the tricycle, its tail dangling over the side, and her mouth fell open slightly. ”Whoa, that’s a huge fish!”

”Heh, how did you know I’m the one who caught this fish?”

”Uh, I don’t think I’ve asked yet!”

”That’s right. I’m the one who caught this fish.”

”...” Yi Chen was suddenly a little terrified. ’How did he know what I was going to ask? Does the boss have a superpower like mind-reading?’

She asked cautiously, ”Boss, how did you...”

Before she could finish, she saw Gu Nan, who had just plugged in the tricycle, suddenly ”zip” over to the abalone shop owner who had come by to see what the commotion was about.

”Hey, my friend, how did you know I caught this fish?”

”Whoa, you’re amazing, man! You really caught this fish?”

”Haha, that’s right. This yellowtail, over eight feet long and weighing more than 220 pounds, was caught by my own two hands.”

Just then, a big orange cat passed by.

It was a stray, but it had always lived in the seafood market, usually wandering around and finding plenty of food scraps.

As a result, it lived a very comfortable life. Its figure had nothing in common with a typical stray, and it seemed to have fully awakened the noble bloodline buried in its genes.

It was very friendly with people and not at all shy around strangers.

Gu Nan’s eyes lit up when he saw it. He immediately picked it up and shoved its face against the fish.

”Dahuang, you knew I caught a big fish too?”

The orange cat: ”Meow?”

”...” Seeing this, Yi Chen patted her ample chest and sighed in relief.

’Thank goodness. The boss doesn’t have mind-reading powers, he’s just an idiot.’

The king yellowtail was left on display in the tricycle, mainly because it was too big for Gu Nan to get it off without a crane or a forklift.

By now, the crowd of onlookers in front of the shop was growing. A yellowtail this large was a rare sight even back in the sixties or seventies. This was definitely newsworthy.

Sure enough, local reporters caught wind of the story and came to interview Gu Nan.

They asked about his experience catching the fish and the general location. At his request, they also made sure to get his seafood shop’s storefront in the shot.

He had successfully achieved his goal. Thanks to this indirect publicity, the reputation of his seafood shop would undoubtedly increase significantly.

Some purchasing agents from seafood restaurants and hotels who got the news also rushed over, along with some wealthy business owners and even fishmongers.

They all wanted to buy the fish for a high price. In just a short while, the bidding for the fish had reached 23,000 yuan.

Unlike grouper, a sufficiently large yellowtail could indeed be sold at a premium, but unfortunately, the price per unit of weight wouldn’t be too outrageous.

”Hey, Boss Gu, I’m the purchasing agent from Junhao Hotel. We saw each other at the dock this afternoon.” It was quite a coincidence; the big fish had been covered up in the afternoon so no one had noticed, but the agent from Junhao Hotel had still come over to join the crowd.

However, the man was smart enough not to say this in front of everyone. Instead, he sidled up to Gu Nan and whispered.

”Junhao will offer thirty thousand for this fish, and you can keep it on display at your shop for an extra day.”

Gu Nan raised an eyebrow. ’This guy is interesting. He didn’t try to use Sheng Shuyun or the fact that they purchase seafood from the shop as leverage. He just directly offered a high price and good terms.’

Considering the possibility of future cooperation and the terms offered, he didn’t even need to think about it.

After that, Gu Nan found an excuse to send all the potential buyers away. If he wasn’t selling, no one could force him.

To be honest, the main reason was that he wasn’t at all satisfied with the price they had offered.

23,000 yuan. He could get 20,000 yuan just by selling the fish by weight.

”The fish is yours—sold to Junhao. Brother Sheng is coming over tomorrow. You should come too. I’ll treat you all to a meal then.”

”Great, I’ll definitely be here to show my support tomorrow.” The purchasing agent added him on WeChat, then left the seafood market with a 35,000 yuan invoice from the shop.

After a look around the shop, he saw a lot of seafood that hotels could use and understood that he would most likely be in charge of procurement from here on out.

By the time the crowd of onlookers dispersed, it was already a little after seven in the evening.

Gu Nan and Yi Chen moved the other, smaller yellowtails into the shop’s freezer, then pushed the tricycle inside. Only after covering the big fish with a large amount of ice did they close up the shop to go get dinner.
